Honestly I still think season 2 episode 5 was quite lazy
Particularly in the character development department
Really episode 4 was to but thats another topic entirely
First off we have luke deciding to leave cover for no reason if clem got AJ
People always get mad at Mike and Bonnie for leaving with arvo when that was forced and unnatural "character development" just to get clem jane and kenny alone without having to kill mike or bonnie if shes still alive. I mean mikes and your relationship was always pretty good, and bonnie
Ok let me talk about Bonnie
Shes the prime example of a someone who would have been a more liked character if this crap did not happen
She blames you for lukes death if you only cover him no matter how nice you were to her before and gets all pissed off at you.Her blaming you was totally forced, only to create more friction between you and the group giving her a shread of a reason to want to leave with mike and arvo
If you try and save luke like she asks shes all nice to you, but still leaves (although she is much much more saddened when clem gets shot running to her aid right away, only to presumably be chased off by kenny)
Her relationship with clem before even if not good, was defiantly not bad, so all the crap after lukes death if you did try running to luke was crappy forced development,
Bonnie would likely not have left clem shot and wounded by arvo, pissed at you or not, so by making her determinant they made her doomed to not be able to affect the story in any significant way so any compassion bonnie has for clem wont effect the story
To reinstate What I mean is, they got really lazy and forced characters, like mike and bonnie to go through changes that are out of their character, (such as leaving a girl and a baby without supplies and good shelter, just to escape kenny, who they only just got mad at for some stupid reason (even more crappy development), all to get kenny and jane alone with clem to further the story, oh and to start and kenny and jane
, Kenny and Jane getting pissed off at each other was also kind of stupid, as well, Jane though kenny was a broken man for a few episodes but Kenny just though jane was a bit werid and untrustworthy, but suddenly has some vendetta against her after what happened with luke, then flips his shit when she says she thinks going back to Howes is a good idea.
Kenny loves and wants care for AJ but refuses to go to howes even when jane says she is pretty sure formula is there, thats also forced development for the sake of a "dramatic ending"and kenny gets obsessed with wellington for some reason thats never really explained other than "protecting clem and AJ"
Next lets talk about kenny running off to "find gas" for no reason other then to leave jane clem and AJ alone for plots sake and what happens after
Janes plan was pretty stupid but kenny assuming she murdered AJ was even stupider
(And that ending choice, I will never understand why clem could not have just shot that knife away out of kennys hands but whatever, I Loved both kenny and jane but I had to kill kenny as I could not bring myself let someone die when I could do somthing about it (same reason I let lilly stay in the group, pulled ben up, spared the cannible kids, ))
But rambling aside
The only part of this episode where i felt like there was not much lazy development going on was the night at the electric plant, (with the fire and the drinking and the jane talking about the time she ate glass) it just felt like after they were like "crap"" "we need to make over half the current group die or run off within 20 min of gameplay"
But this is just my opinion, so I get it if you don't give a damn or can't understand a word, or think im an idiot (which I am)

One thing that did feel lazy about the scene at the power station (at least in my eyes), was that it didn't matter whether you'd waited a day or a week to leave Parker's Run - somehow it always managed to be Luke's birthday that night. Granted, Luke did say it was his birthday "as far as he could tell" - so it's entirely possible that a single week didn't make a major difference to him - but it still felt lazy to me. How much effort would it have been to tweak that one line of dialogue to take our choice into account?
Your 1.5 years late too bring this back up, mate.
I just replayed both seasons and the thought crossed my mind again
sue me
AHEM.
Message Redacted due to hate towards Season 2
Actually I love season 2
Just this episode was meh to me
I...I.. don't like season 2. I hate on it a lot so I figured I'd just put something funny instead of writing a giant reasoning explaining why.
In Harm's Way, Amid The Ruins, and No Going Back were all examples of lazy writing. They took the safe route with all these episodes.
I can't wait to send you all my reasons why I hate season 2
But because I'm lazy nah
Season 2 was just based on S1 succes nothing more it kinda reminds me of AC unity... Oké now I went to far Unity (I shouldn't speak of that name BTW) didn't understand it own universe and destroyed all logic. And before the internet warriors are gonna bush me with there keyboards let me say this... Look at 1 untill 3 and then Unity
Back to the topic. Hé remember Eddie on the background that sounds like a interesting plot device YES well no. That will take alot of creativity! and we don't want that do we?! And length of the EPISODE.... XD they gonna buy it anyway
Lol I always thought Eddie was just a placeholder. I never understood why they had different slides, just for them to change it to the same one after Amid The Ruins was released. Maybe they were going somewhere with it, who knows. The episode, along with No Going Back could've been better.
Yeah... That town they wanted to go to LOL
I like the first two episodes and the third is ok although they totally rushed Howes, I would have loved to stay there
There is nothing lazy or bad writing about Bonnie and Mike ditching you. You never really did have any attachment to Mike on your travels, it always seemed he was there for his own convenience. And Bonnie was a flake who was always prone to backing out of plans and screwing you to save her own skin. Her flaking out and running away with Mike is well within her character. No amount of apologising would fix that.
Your other points I find hard to understand too. Is it really that hard for Kenny to think she left AJ to die when she's already left her sister to walkers? Or her keeping on telling Clementine that she should go it alone and not stick with a group? Kenny was already flustered over not being able to find AJ so when she comes in without him like the total bitch she is just to start a fight, it's understandable that Kenny lost his crap. NOT bad writing, Kenny always acts rashly and lets his emotions dictate his actions, it's not bad writing for Kenny to lose his shit when he's at the end of his tether.
And shooting a knife from somebody's hand would be kind of ridiculous, this ain't the wild wild west!
Necro bump.
One thing that felt so wasted and lazy in episode 5 was Luke. This episode made him so stupid and probably the worst main character in Season 2.
Why did you bump this thread?
Please don't bump old threads unless something new to discuss comes up. Thanks!
