'Heads Up' Episode Discussion

  • Well yeauh it was revealed that Glenn didn't bite the dust or get a bite rather. Also Wouldn't be the first unlikely close call in the walking dead. Tyreese takes on a horde in both the comic and show and lives, Kenny as you know from the game survives the seemingly impossible. I felt it was more likely he lived from the way they shot it and the angles to make it purposely unclear. Every other character death is usually quite obvious. especially big supporting characters. And last but not least you have the supposed dead up walking and eating the living alive in this franchise, nothing should come as a surprise long ago..surely doesn't for me.

The way they showed Glenn escape from underneath the other guy sort of appeared reasonable in my opinion. Most of the attention was on the freshly dead Nicholas and the walkers attention is easily captured many times as distractions. All Glenn needed was maybe 10 seconds to quickly slide away with how slow they move they were only able to grab at his shoes by the time he was mostly hidden and out of their sight.

I felt it wasn't all that badly put together for what it was worth. Now Telltale can make good tales at times, but unlike with Kenny at least AMC displayed how their character made it out of the impossible.. other than just the I got lucky explanation and that's that. Some might want to call it bad writing or a cop out or whatever.. however it's always simple and much easier to heavily criticize and talk about other's errors especially when one does not have to prove nor input ideas on how they could do so much better than said writers, but hey luckily life isn't about put up or shut up right?.

Some ideas might sound so awesome on paper but sort of flop on screen or games since we are on a gaming forum discussing a television program. I believe most writers do probably try their hardest to keep their ratings up for more money, and the primary goal might of been to up the ratings and study the Glenn fan-base closely for his possible death from a specific forthcoming comic villain.

  • Or effective writing since people feel less sure that Glenn will die now.

If they made a Glenn fake out just to kill him when Negan shows up, that would just be horrible writing

  • Am I the only one here who's noticed both Aaron and Heath were absent in an Alexandria-centric episode?

  • Glenn lives to die another day. Hooray. The zombie horde is marching it's way into Alexandria, bout damn time. Let's get to some good action.

  • I cant wait till this guy sees the finale.........

  • Nope. But they'll show up again.

  • I believe it was all a ploy to test the fanvases love for Gleen.

The finale (were that scene is set to appear) was filmed DURING the controversy, meaning that they knew the reaction the people would have towards his death and what kind of impact it had. They were also going for the 'the immortals' thing to shock everyone in the finale.

  • What was stopping Rick and co. from covering themselves in Walker guts, strolling past the horde, and doing the vehicle distraction?

  • If I can say one thing, it must be with: I hope Jessie makes it through the season. In the comic book she was kind of just a bland love interest character, but I really think she works a lot better in the show. If they're going the original route of the comics for what I know is coming up, I'm going to be heartbroken!

I also hope some of the more prominent Alexandria residents start to become main characters. Heath and Aaron are important of course, but I'd love to see more of Spencer and Denise!

  • I don't know! It's a trick that they've neglected to use ever since Episode 2!

  • Yeah, they've done a pretty poor job of making the Alexandrians seem like anything above redshirts.

  • It really doesn't. lmao

    My comment still holds.

  • It really doesn't. Either way, once Negan arrives, a main character, Glenn, WILL die. They already know Glenn's loved enough to score a huge reaction to it, this was just so people were used to him dying.

But....thats exactly why they did it in the comics. The Negan intro needs to be a big death. It males an insane amount of sense.

  • Well you have your opinion i have mine. Well see who was right in the finale. Till then thanks for the disscution :)

  • Why are you being so vicious and vulgar? Is that the only way you can attempt to get your point across in the form of belittling other people? lmao

So, in case you completely missed the obvious, which you sadly have, Tara was standing on the pillars that were held against the fence. She wasn't dangling with one arm, she was holding onto the fence for support. Also, it's not like she got every single one of those headshots. Honestly.

So if you want to be a whingeing baby and cuss everyone who makes a point against yours, by all means. At least know you're right the next time you decide to act like a complete idiot.

  • Anyone else feel they may actually go for the Carl losing his eye thing? If so, it seems like Ron may be the one to do the deed.

To be fair, almost all of the gun use in the show, game AND comics is ridiculous Since day one, we've had people landing running headshot

  • I don't have any problem with the use of the guns in this series, personally. But hey, even in spite of some of those 'out there' moments the series has, it's still better than how guns work in the average action movie, so it has that going for it.

  • Aaron and Heath are alive?

    they died off screen

  • The fact that jumping down into the horde would immediately get the zombies' attention and the person would get dogpiled, guts or no guts, and the other alternative is to open the gates so someone can calmly walk through, which would just let in the other thousand walkers who would walk inside unimpeded.

Theoretically, I suppose they could let them inside Alexandria, go get the vehicle, and honk the horn to lead them all out again, provided everyone goes inside and shuts up. But someone's life would be put in danger however they went about it because opening the gate would get the zombies' attention. It's a risky play even when you factor in the guts.

Could it work, though? Absolutely. And that's why this whole guts thing is something that would have been best left out from the story altogether.

I mean, the show writers aren't always the best at subtlety, to say the least
