What do they mean by stand-alone

They have announced today that It will be released it will be released next year and that it will be stand-alone. What do they mean by thar

Comments

  • Could mean any number of things. To me it sounds like a brand new season with no Clementine. Stand alone meaning it's not tied to anything from past games. If it does have Clementine it could mean they are no longer tied to the original Walking Dead series which could allow for something like a time jump. Clementine is 18, and AJ is a little kid! Oooh Cuteclem would go nuts.

  • Could it also mean that it will not be an the same app as the walking dead season 2 and will not be on the same retail disc either

When the Michonne mini series was first announced they said that it would require the first episode of season 2 to work, Job has now announced that it will be a stand alone game so it will no longer require season 2.

  • So your choices will not matter from s2.

  • You do realize that he was talking about Michonne and not Season 3, right?

  • Doesn't 3 episodes seem a little small though for that, especially if they stick to 1 and a half to 2 hour episodes?

  • It is a mini-series...

  • For 15 dollars 5-6 hours seems pretty appropriate.

They where never going to matter, it was always going to have a separate story unrelated to seasons 1&2.

So your choices will not matter from s2.

  • Yes I know, but to not require season 2 and be a game of it's own.

  • Yeah, but i'm asking if 3 episodes of the same length is enough for it to be a stand-alone.

  • I also think that we will not get breaks, it will release one after the other. Either every week or they will just release it at once

There's not really much indicating that is the case. We will still likely have normal waiting times between episodes, they just meant that the episodes now no longer require Season 2 to play.

  • I don't see why not if their calling it a mini series.

Yeah, but i'm asking if 3 episodes of the same length is enough for it to be a stand-alone.

  • They did just say that the wait will be shorter

  • It's still premiering sooner than you think, but shifting just a few weeks will make for a tighter 3 episode series

    No he didn't.

They did just say that the wait will be shorter

  • The logo released recently does not say mini-series

He meant "tighter" as in better quality, not quicker waiting periods.

They did just say that the wait will be shorter

  • AGH! We'll see once they launch the store page I guess...

  • Even if it is no longer a DLC, I think they should've kept "mini series" in the title to prevent people from being confused from why this series is shorter in terms of how many episodes there are. But, oh well.

  • This is what happens when games get delayed and details are not yet given, i'm asking too many questions XD

  • Yeah maybe it's just a logo for the game awards...heh heh eh...

The price should give people a hint that the series is shorter hopefully. (unless Telltale makes it 25 bucks...Ugh).

Three episodes would not be a first for a Telltale Games series. Hector: Badge of Carnage was also only three episodes.

What's that fourth piece? 400 Days?

Poor 400 Days, the odd man out, as it's now the only DLC episode in the series (not counting the way that every episode outside of the first episode are sometimes counted as DLC on consoles and handheld systems).

  • It's just a picture. I'll be honest, you've already put more thought into it than I have. :P
