Clementine's Hat - Baseball team?

I'm assuming the Arizona Diamondbacks is what the "D" symbol stands for.

  • I was at Walker Stalker Con in New Jersey last week, and when I asked Melissa Hutchison what the D stands for, she said it was apparently a reference to some Japanese baseball team, she didn't know the name though.

  • Actually, I was thinking it could be a minor league baseball team too. Was digging around a bit, and I found these:

Looks like the same exact "D" to me. And teams often do different colors of their hats as well, like they also have navy blue versions of this hat:

Looks pretty similar to Clementine's, if you ask me.

The only thing is, it's missing the white outline on the D, and it's missing the hatchet. (The name of this team is the "Danville Braves" from Virginia, which isn't too too far from Clem's home in Georgia.) So either Clem's dad was a fan of the Danville Braves, or Telltale used this hat as a model, took out the hatchet, and recolored it to make it their own.

Or, it could be a cap from a university or high school baseball team instead.

If it's a Japanese baseball team, it's likely the Chunichi Dragons. Telltale probably didn't make the logo exact (and possibly combined two eras of the logo together) so that they wouldn't have to license it, and they wouldn't get in trouble for trademark infrigement (like how in Back to the Future: The Game, JC Penney became JP Pinney, an injoke referring to the Telltale writer/designer Joe Pinney, and in the Jurassic Park: The Game merchandise Kodak became Kadok).

  • No, but what the fuck? lol

Was your friend the one that bit Norman Reedus?

  • Also, the Chunichi Dragons are actually the most well known Japanese baseball team in the United States because of the Tom Selleck film Mr. Baseball. So if any Japanese baseball team would be referenced in a game made in the United States, the Dragons would likely be the one.

  • GCN mentioned that in their Season 1 video.

  • WHAT? You met Melissa?

  • Yeah, it was awesome and she was so nice. I was actually the first person in line to see her that day, she ended up signing both a poster and my Clementine hat.
