"Uh...yeah... Here it is," Rhys replies hurriedly. And then she feels his lips on hers. It is nothing near a kiss, just a quick innocent peck, but nevertheless it goes down to her soul.
Her eyes fly open, the color rising in her cheeks. She sees his apologetic smile, and unwelcomed doubt begins to stirr in her heart. He is too smart for her at times.
"What was that?" She tries to sound indignant, but it comes out shaky. "Are you mocking me, you asshole?!" She is more confident when she is angry at him, so she fuels herself up to it. "Can't you see, it may be the last time we see each other, and it is not at all unimaginable for us to grow some animosity after all these adventures, and if you..."
"Fiona." He says with so much care in his eyes, that she stops, her mouth still open around those angry words she was about to tell him.
"I was not, huh...what you said...well, not mocking you. I just..." He flails his arms helplessly, looking away. "...it was my last chance to do it." He returns his eyes to her worried face. "And I really wanted to do that for umm...quite some time." He blushes, which makes her lips smile and her heart beat faster.
"Is it...is it exactly what you wanted? Or..." Fiona starts, coming nearer, staring into his eyes, putting her hands on his shoulders.
"Or." He replies. "Most definitely or." He embraces her gently, his arms resting on her waist and her back. He bends down to her face and whispers: "So many ors, you can't even imagine."
