Carver's logic

No point of being in Howe's if he's going to kill you.

  • Damn how was I supposed to know give me a break!! :(

  • I dont quite get what you mean. He didnt kill you if you pulled your weight

  • Well, unless he decides to orchestrate a situation that you are doomed to fail at, so that he would be validated and justified in killing you regardless

He'll play by the rules, but he'll manipulate the situation in order to make you break the rules first

    Devious, but clever

  • Clever indeed, but where was the payoff? You kill your most loyal subject by ensuring that they are doomed to fail at their task and thus providing you a motive to kill him for his failure, but what was achieved at the end, other than your own men losing faith in you because of the murder?

It was that very action that lead to, or hastened, Carver's downfall.

  • To be honest this thread on my second thought was about the opportunity to make a Kill Bill reference since Bill is voiced by Micheal Madsen. I eventually stuck to this one but yeah Carver is manipulative.

He probably heard about Governor and believed he could do something similar but just with this "brother and sister" community which is a farce.

  • Now that you mention Kill Bill, I have a funny image of Clementine using the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique on Bill while he gave her the 'you and I are very much alike' speech.

  • Given how Clementine had ridiculous strength and resilience in Season 2, this picture seems appropriate.

  • Perhaps to put fear/loyalty in the rest of the community. From the 400 day characters, we know Carver should not be fucked with. With part of his group/love child running away. Catching them shows that no one escapes/dis-obeys Carver. Killing them or turning them would be a win. Cabin group would be an example.

  • There are better ways to put fear and loyalty to your people without killing those who are allied with you just to prove a point, especially when killing Reggie ended up causing your own men to start losing faith in you. No one likes a team killer.

  • I was just about to make a thread on that the next couple of days. I guess I won't do that then.

  • True, but Carver is well... he's a dick. A bully personality. Maybe choosing the devil on your shoulder choice is the only thing he knows.
