It was never on purpose, Kenny caused it, but by accident. Carver was a bad man but I do not think he wanted to hurt the group. He did not want anyone except for a few people to die. Like Bonnie said, the way how it turned out was the way it was not planned.
If anything, faults lies with TTG for not providing the necessary exposition of: Carver's character (such as his motivations, how he formed his compound, what made him become more militaristic with his rule); the histories of the Cabin Group (e.g., details about their flight from Camp Carver); explaining Kenny's desire for escaping (i.e., events in Season 1), crucial information that we needed.
In game, blame falls on the members of the Cabin Group. They "violated" Carver's rules (which we can only speculate) and escaped . When asked about Carver, the group chose to ignore replying, or withheld the truth ("He's a very bad man" or something along those lines).
Clementine, Kenny and Sarita were forced to be involved. It was obvious that the "yard" was death row when you consider what happened to its "inmates" (e.g., Reggie and possibly Alvin).
Kenny lost everything he had in a short period of time: the security of the lodge, two friends, his pride (followed by Sarita). Again, we have to remember what he experienced in Season 1, which would make any person desperate.
How is it Kenny's fault at all? He was just living peacefully in the mountain top with Sarita and the other two, when the Cabin group think … moreits a brilliant idea to enter the home of these people, without telling them what's going on at all, risking their lives as they are hunted by a madman. It was the Cabin group's fault the entire time for BRINGING Carver, they are the reason Kenny is even in this mess...heck, they may have caused what you guys call his 'madness' anyway.

It can all be attributed to the Carver Affect. If Carver hadn't stalked the Cabin Group they wouldn't have to run away , which would mean that Nick wouldn't have shot Matthew , and Sarita wouldn't have been bitten , and Carlos wouldn't have been shot , Walter would have lived , Kenny might've gone longer without becoming a homicidal maniac , etc etc.
I'm not the biggest fan of Kenny either but, I never understood how people blamed him for the deaths of the cabin group survivors. Did he take the spotlight away from them? Yes. That doesn't necessarily mean he got them all killed.
Ultimately it was Carver. Bonnie helped set them up so she has a big hand too. The cabin group itself was somewhat responsible for not letting Kenny, and the others know that they were being followed by armed, and dangerous people. If they had let them know they could have been better prepared and probably could have picked off Carver and their group from barricaded area.

I think they actually did tell Kenny's group, or at the very least Kenny. If you sit with him, he says that Alvin mentioned they were being followed. So they at the very least mentioned that they were being followed. Whether or not they admitted that the guy following them was nuts, and about to ruin everyone's day, I'm not sure.
In their defense though, they probably thought that if they told them the full story, there was a chance they'd just get kicked out of the lodge. I mean, if some group of people you didn't know showed up at your door, and told you a group of armed and dangerous people led by a maniac were after them, would you really want to get wrapped up in the middle of it? Selfish decision on the cabin group's part? Sure, but if people are providing you a place to stay, rest, and eat, even if it's just for the night, it's probably better than the alternative.

Not really...more sarcasm was there and it was in response to my face palm type of reaction over anyone in the cabin group being a good survivor. Those guys were like lemmings jumping off a cliff in episode 4.

What about Bonnie? She caused the group to be captured by Carver.

Kenny and his group were doing great. If anything the Cabin group, and Carver destroyed a perfect sanctuary
Lol TTGs writers
The Writers who only know how to write situations.
And Luke wanted to cover up the murder of that guys friend as well. Lmao. Definitely more the cabin group's fault.
I don't hate him! Everyone probably knows that by now after all my posts haha
Well , it's not like they called Carver up and said "Hey man! Come kidnap us for your 'community'!

Oh yeah, Carver definitely played an enormous role in the deaths of the majority of the cabin group.

the sarcasm was a little bit aggressive
your sarcasm beat me up and stole my wallet
Alternative.... How did that work out? Everyone dead?
But they knew he would be coming, which is why they left the cabin in the first place. They endangered the lives of others for selfish purposes.
They were probably hoping to lose him up in the mountains.
It's still true though....even if it was sad.
