Were you satisfied?

edited November 2015 in The Walking Dead

Were you happy with the ending of Episode 5 (Season 1) where Lee dies from the bite? Of course I know it was inevitable. But were you satisfied with that ending? Or do you wish he survived?

I personally didn't like that Lee died. He was actually my favorite character in the game with Mark as my second favorite.

Also, please note that I haven't played Season 2 yet, so if you're going to comment with a spoiler from there, please be sure to mark it as so.

Thanks!

OMG GET OFF OF THESE FORUMS AND START PLAYING RIGHT NOW, THE THREAD TITLES HAVE SPOILERS FOR PETE'S SAKE!

(Calmer version: lots of thread titles contain spoilers within themselves so I would suggest avoiding this section unless you're okay with possibly getting spoiled)

  • No. While it was an excellent way to end the season and it worked really well, I wasn't satisfied. I had a lot of questions that I really wanted to be answered, and I seriously would have accepted the Stranger's offer to leave Clem in his care as long as I could say my goodbyes. It worked for ending the season, but for me, it was unsatisfying.

  • When I first played Season one I thought the ending was perfect. But that was back when I thought that the story of Lee and Clem was coming to an end altogether and that following Seasons (if there were any) would follow other characters/groups. Maybe find out what happened to Molly or Lilly after they took off. Now that I know that's not the case, I can't help but feel that keeping Lee alive would've been better in the long run.

  • I was very satisfied. The scene was beautifully crafted. Yeah, it was sad to see him go. But he left something very special behind in Clementine.

  • Honestly, when he got bit, my emotions of being super excited went straight to predictable and let down. I was hoping he wouldn't get bit and that the season would end where you don't know if Lee died or survived. In fact, no time left destroyed the whole game for me. Lee being bit= Dead, Kenny, being the most important character in the whole season besides Lee and Clementine= presumed dead, eventually lost in the herd, Ben, the controversial character who fucked up a lot but was finally making a mends= Dead. Christa and Omid, the 2 newest characters, hardly any development apart from Omid being a class clown to Christa whining because she's pregnant= Only ones besides Clementine alive. Why not have Clementine dying, then Lee going mental and killing the stranger, and the end scene is him running through the walkers, destroying them like when he went to the marsh house. And ending the season like that and have him be the star in season two. I'd pay double the money for a pass to see that one.

  • That would've been awesome if Telltale did that, like a spinoff: What would've happend if Clementine died instead of Lee. I WANT IT TELLTALE, bring it on!

  • Why not? Then you could have season two with Lee and the other version with Clementine. See which one get's the better reception.

    Were you satisfied?

Season 1, yes. Season 2, no.

I really liked Lee. Even though as we the player were making decisions through him, he still came across as a character with his own identity and emotions rather than just a vessel for the player to interact with the rest of cast with, and I genuinely cared about him. His arc with Clementine was really the highlight of Season 1 to me, that when it came to his death at the end, it really was like a father having to say goodbye to his daughter and it killed me.

But yes, I was satisfied with how the game ended, both, and that clever cliffhanger that left me wanting more, to find out what was going to come next. Although, I do remember wishing at the time we could've gotten Lee out of Savannah, if he could've held out just a little bit longer to die somewhere more peaceful, but where he died still works, added to the sadness of the moment.

  • Although Lee was my favorite character (along with Clem) and was pretty sad when he died, yes i was satisfied. Why? Because he died a hero.

  • I was, because I like the idea of Clementine showing what she learned from Lee.

Also, you're very brave entering here without playing Season 2, haha. You gonna play Michonne too?

  • Out of curiosity , why?
He was keeping his dead wife's head in a bag.

As emotionally traumatizing as it was , yeah. It was a beautiful scene.

also : PLAY SEASON TWO. You will get spoiled if you don't!!!!

  • I know that, but he was a broken man, looking for something to cling onto. Clem was gonna be lost without Lee, So I had trusted him at the moment.

  • And he also kidnapped Clementine.

  • Leave her with the crazy guy who kidnapped her and has his dead wife's head in a bag? Yeah, I disagree.

  • It's all up to opinion for me and we don't have to take it any further.

  • Because Lee is a dangerous man in a group filled with idiotic people.

    And he also kidnapped Clementine.

  • Um , let me see if I have this right - you're making excuses for a man to abduct a nine year old girl.

sighs. And just when I thought today couldn't get any more annoying.

I'm not saying what he did wasn't wrong, but it was smart. He was right. The group crumbled. Kenny went insane, Ben died, Christa and Omid died, Molly (determinately) died, and Lee died. Honestly, he cared for Clementine, and that entire group was fucking batshit crazy. After Lilly and Doug checked out, the group had no capable people left. Lee wasn't in the right place, Christa was pregnant and irrational, Omid was a jokester, Ben was a useless shit-tard, and Kenny was... Well, Kenny. Even IF they had all made it out together and lived, Clem would have died with them anyway. The Stranger knew what to do, the stranger cared about her, and the stranger wasn't willing to blindly put his trust in people, such as many of the other cast had done.

The Stranger was a weird dude, I'll admit. The kidnapping, the wife's head, the attacking of the group, there were all way better ways to do that. But you've gotta understand, he had reasons. You'd do the exact same shit in his shoes. Realistically, we'd all probably become insane within the first few months of the apocalypse. So you cannot blame HIM for shit that WE would all do. However, the head thing, totally not okay.

Um , let me see if I have this right - you're making excuses for a man to abduct a nine year old girl.

  • Plus, you've got to give him props on surviving alone that long.

    1. Christa and Omid didn't die until Season Two.
    2. Saying the Stranger cared about her is kind of like saying an Internet Predator cares about the kids he/she abducts.
    3. The Stranger lost his son when they went hunting. And he didn't lose as in the sense of a Walker came and chomped , he lost him in the sense of him being stupid enough not to keep the kid within his line of sight.
    4. There were people in the apocalypse that didn't kidnap and manipulate a nine year old.
