I don't think this has been discussed before? An idea for a TWD mini series or full series?

I don't think this has been thought of but what are your thoughts on this idea for a mini series or even a full series?

We get a look back into TWD's season 1's characters lives before the outbreak began and possibly leading to the events of the main season 1 story. Apologies in advance for the long post:

  1. A story about Lee's life teaching at UGA, the strained relationship with his wife and showing all the details of how the murder happened and also obviously learning more about Lee's life in general, more about his family, their names, maybe a scene visiting them before they were no longer on speaking terms? Glenn's cameo delivering a pizza to the Everett's?

  2. A story about Clementine, where we could learn more about her parents, about Sandra with the whole discussion about Clem's parents plans to go to Savannah. Clem's dad scene giving her his hat? Walkie talkie scene where Clem talks to her parents? Could be a scene of her in school studying? She mentioned (determinant) that she had a friend called Alfred who had a peanut allergy, anyone remember? A character like this we could learn more about as well as Clementine's personality before she met Lee and how different it may have been?

  3. A story about Carley's life during her reporter days, the whole discussion of covering the Cherry Blossom Festival, the news editor she mentioned that was an asshole we could learn more about? Steve the guy we hear on the radio? We could get a look into her life at home and what sort of person she was before the outbreak? How she came to learn to use a gun? And maybe showing her paying attention to Lee's murder story?

  4. A story about Doug, how he came to live in Macon with his uncle, how he learnt to become good with equipment as demonstrated by his alarm system he made at the motor inn and showing the scene where he rescued Carley from the walkers, possibly showing a bond between them? And then how they both end up at the drugstore together.

  5. A story about Lilly and Larry, their lives/involvement with the US Air Force, showing scenes where as Lilly said "dealing with a bunch of shitheads and bureaucrats all day or a plane if she's lucky". Possibly showing another side to Larry's horrible personality, perhaps before his wife died? We could learn more about her and Lilly's family in general and show how their mother died and how they dealt with the loss, eventually ending up at the drugstore after the outbreak began.

  6. A story about Kenny and his family, showing Kenny working as a commercial fisherman somewhere on a boat learning even more about anything to do with his and/or his family's life, Katjaa treating animals at a veterinary, Duck in school? Possibly a scene where they had to put the family dog down as mentioned (determinant) by Kenny in Starved For Help. Maybe showing the 3 of them going to Memphis to visit Kat's sister not long before or as the apocalypse began? The petrol/gas station scene where Duck got grabbed and finally arriving at Hershel's farm?

  7. A story about Ben and his classmates. More info about Ben's life and family, what was he like before the apocalypse? A scene showing him in his school band with Travis and Mr Parker? The time he and everyone spent holed up in the school gymnasium when the apocalypse hit, the madness that followed when the girl took her life and turned? How Ben and his classmates ended up at the camp that got raided by the bandits and how they eventually got away?

  8. A story about Omid and Christa, showing their life before and as the apocalypse began, maybe show where they lived, more on their families? Seeing Omid and Christa's cat!!!??, what about the scene Omid has his driver's licence suspended? Christa revealing to Omid she was pregnant for the first time? Showing their road trip around America and all the horror they experienced as the apocalypse began?

  9. A story about Chuck and his life. Who was he before everything went to shit? How did he end up being homeless? Why didn't he have any involvement with his family for 14 years? Maybe see a scene where Chuck witnesses someone dying and his wise words to Lee about teaching Clem to shoot, keeping her hair short etc reflects that? Perhaps a few guitar tunes along the way?

  10. A story of Molly's life. More background to her diabetic sister? Their time living in Crawford? More on Oberson? What happened when they left? Her assumed sister's death? Scenes showing Molly taking care of herself, ringing the bells around Savannah and scavenging place to place? Where did she find Hilda or her "hook thing" as Lee says?

  11. And finally i would love to see an episode or mini series showing the 3 month time gap between A New Day and Starved For Help. How they rescued Mark from the air force base? The food reserves he had and how they got it all back to the motor inn? Maybe more info about Mark's life or anything else we didn't know about the other characters? More scenes where Clem is seen bonding with Duck? How the group treats Mark to begin with? Do they trust him or not? How tensions began between Lilly and Kenny?

I would even love to see more about the St John's and what kind of people they were before the apocalypse or even Vernon and the cancer patients but i just felt those scenarios wouldn't be as popular or interesting to fans.

Thank you for reading! Would love to get your thoughts on this idea.

  • Well then it wouldn't really be The Walking Dead then would it? I mean, we would just be playing regular folks up until the last minute before switching perspectives to other regular folks.

  • I guess but i personally would love the idea

  • I think some of those characters, we should've had stay in the game more, then we could've gotten a bit more information about them. Chuck, we could've learnt more about. Im sure he had a good background story. Molly, well she had a lot of potential, but was apparently only used for one episode, yet was given a lot of screen time. I think pretty much what you are saying is something telltale COULD'VE done, but problem was that the episodes would be pretty long (i'd say between 2 and a half to 3 hours+ long). I wouldn't have a problem with it. If you noticed, there was originally a deleted scene in around every corner where Lee had to lead Vernon to the mansion, and then lead the group to Crawford via the sewers but they deleted it because it would've made the episode too long. They won't do anything like that because they don't want to make long dragging on episodes.

How they rescued Mark from the air force base? The food reserves he had and how they got it all back to the motor inn?

They actually kind of elaborate on this in game a bit, but the dialogue where it's mentioned is hard to hear (it's background conversation while you're walking to the dairy)

He worked at the air force base (obviously), and when everything started going to hell, people panicked and chaos ensued: everyone running around, trying to take whatever they could get their hands on, etc. In the chaos, Mark wound up getting locked in one of the commissary closets, and ended up being trapped in there for a while. Eventually Lee and the group went there looking for supplies, and ended up finding and saving him.

  • I know that my idea won't happen because as someone mentioned, they would all be too long but would have loved to see it happen. If only they had made season 1 a much longer game, they could have developed further on this

  • Well thank you for the input anyway guys appreciate it

  • Probably not gonna happen. But I've always wanted to see a Lee DLC which recalled the events that led up to the murder. Or a DLC that filled the six month time gap between A New Day and Starved for Help.

  • It was only 3 months but yeah, It'd be nice.

Lee is dead, and a pre- apocalypse game would just be a bit dry. Also I think we know more about Lee's history than anyone apart from maybe clementine

    A story about Clementine,

Well we kind of have that already. Not to mention again a pre apocalpye thing would be pretty dull especially for information we can already mostly know. Imean most characters are nothing like there former selves, having a brief "400 days" type deal was the best scenario. However to be honest they should have done this for 5 main season 2 characters , not 4 randoms and 1 later group member.

All have the same issue I mentioned before, a pre- apocalypse dlc would be really dull. Also most of these characters are dead.

  • Fair enough if you think it's dull thats fine, i actually would love to see it but yeah it won't happen. I personally loved most of these characters and i just thought having a series or whatever would be very interesting to get more of an insight on their lives before the apocalypse. Maybe to see a nice Larry? Or just to find out more about some of the characters lives, things we don't know about them. Some of the characters in season 1 didn't have a lot of background mentioned. I always wanted to know more.

A story about Lee's life teaching at UGA, the strained relationship with his wife and showing all the details of how the murder happened and

  • I think a lot of those ides rely a little much on Season 1 nostalgia. I'd think that exploring new characters (like 400 Days) would be a more interesting premise to me, personally speaking.

    1. A DLC that includes what happened to the 400 days survivors after the herd attack, or where they ended up if they didn't go with Tavia.

    2. How Sarita and Kenny met, how they met up with Matthew and Walter.

    3. A DLC that shows us what happened in that 16 month timeskip with Clem and Christa. What happened to the baby? Who did they encounter? What skills did Christa show Clem in those 16 months?

    4. The Cabin Group survivors DLC. How was their life at Carvers camp? How were they treated? Was Rebecca raped? What was the breaking point that finally led them to escape?

    5. Or maybe even a DLC that shows us how Kenny escaped? Or one about Lily and where she ended up, or even one about Molly.

They had so many opportunities, but thy decided to go with a Michonne DLC...ok.....

  • Fair enough

  • The only DLC or mini-series I want is one which will explain what happened during the 16 month timeskip with Clem and Christa - in fact I'd probably like that more than a Michonne mini-series.

  • I agree

  • Im sure all of this stuff has been explored, in fan fiction. I think prose is the only way it would really work. If someone did novelisations, with focus on the character backstories, that might work, but yeah, it would be really hard to sell those as games.

  • Thanks KCohere appreciate the response. Shame really because i'd love the idea as all these season 1 characters were great
