Sure, I understand other perspectives, never said I didn't. There's plenty of reasons for Rodrik to live, but It's just that imo the case is… more overwhelmingly stronger for him to stay behind. Wasn't trying to sway anyones thoughts, just shared some reasons why I chose to leave Rodrik behind.
The three reasons i picked to leave Rodrik was
1. Rodrik was a character who I felt like did not deserve to watch his house fall apart.
2. Rodrik's story felt complete, he was a real hero, a man who gave up so much just to sacrifice himself for his house.
3. I felt like episode 6 has much more intrigue with a surrender and celebration, I remember a discussion I made way back entitled "We do not want a big battle!!" Drew some negative attention, but as shown in Episode 6, I felt like the battle was always going to have some criticim, because it is really cheesy. Lady forester's death is cheesy as hell and the ending was not really an ending.
i leave rodrik because i think asher can kick some whitehill ass, but he got stab by the dovakin and sadly her mother got stab too, dovakin you should have save the world not take side and stab my hero
But after everything, I choose Rodrik save Asher. By what Talia, Ethan, Ryon told about Rodrik in ep 1; The way Rodrik talked with Talia and Ryon, the way he talked about Ethan's dead, Ashur's exile, Mira's absence ... I have the feeling he is the kind of man who will do everything for his own brothers (and sisters too). It's not just a responsibility, a duty, they are always deep in his heart. So I choose the eldest watchful brother save his little brother, the one just came back home after years !!!
Ramsay's game was specifically having the two Houses go to war and whichever one wasn't reduced to rubble won. While Rodrik was acting Lord at the time, he was far from the only person to represent the House. That's the point of Asher declaring they're the new Lord Forrester. So long as there is even ONE child alive, the House is still standing and able to fight on.
Why doesn't anybody mention the whitehills winning Ramsay's game if you killed Rodrik? Heck, one of the dialogue options for killing Ludd as Rodrik is gloating about how the Forresters won Ramsay's game by killing Ludd
I think both choices fit the ending of Episode 5, but in the end I left Rodrik behind, even though he was my favorite character in the game. I felt like the game kind of wanted me to pick that choice, too. I felt like saving Asher is what Rodrik would do. He's in bad shape, he can barely hold a sword.
I felt like the game kind of wanted me to pick that choice, too.
I felt like that as well... which is odd, because in the end, I feel Rodrik's version of Episode 6 is, objectively speaking, the most epic and thematic of the two.
He's in bad shape, he can barely hold a sword.
Considering Rodrik fights exactly the same as Asher in Episode 5 (except his animations are quicker, watch the replays and you'll see, plus Rodrik survives longer, able to look up and see Gryff, by which point Asher had already died). Rodrik also preforms more physically impressive and taxing feats in Episode 6 (surviving the initial siege and assault, rushing to the Whitehill encampment, killing Ludd or Gryff and countless Whitehills in one-on-one combat, shrugging off his various injuries, like a knife wound from Gryff, and a crossbow bolt, before rushing back to Ironrath to participate in the battle, all while having just recovered from crippling injuries) Leaving Rodrik is fair dues, but I get more than a little defensive (as you've probably noticed :P) and irritated when people pass it off because they see him as physically weak or incapable.
Like whutttttt. He's the toughest, most physically capable Forrester there is. By a significant margin.

Good point. Personally think it´s a bit weird that the same Rodrik who couldn't hold a sword not too long ago is suddenly capable of fighting better than someone who took on the Lost Legion, a dragon, a city, and a murderous sociopath who hasn't been beaten before. Again, I slightly preferred Rodrik over Asher, it just seems a bit weird.

He hold a sword in Episode 4 as he trained with Royland. The reason why he fell while he trained, it was all because of his injured legs keeping him from standing and moving effectively.
And don't forget that Rodrik has been fighting for 2 years in a war with his father and the Starks. Just like Asher, he has been doing a lot of fighting and marching.

I'm a bit sad that this quickly became a thread about "Why leaving Rodrik is better..." It's just a matter of opinion, some people like Asher more, others prefer Rodrik.
The "Rodrik is a cripple" vs "Rodrik is a better fighter than Asher" discussion is completely pointless since they fight exactly the same in EP 5 and 6.
The "Rodrik should die for his little brother" vs "Asher is the one that always wants to protect his family" discussion is also pointless, since it is you making that choice not the characters themselves.

That's completely fine, although I strongly dispute the "overwhelmingly" part.
F*CKING SERIOUSLY!? "Roderick"!? I started a whole discussion about this and no one has learned a thing..
I understand how you feel.
It hurts reading these post because most of them misspell Rodrik..

It is silly to leave Asher and it's even more silly not to push for peace.
Right, because saving Asher and choosing to marry Gwyn goes so well...

Sorry for my bad English !!!

You could also argue Asher's storyline was over at the end of ep 5. I saved Rodrik in my canon playthrough and I Don't regret it.
Edit: I also liked Rodrik More than Asher.
I am so confused - so is the general consensus that Rodrik's storyline in Episode 6 was better than Asher's?
But isn't Asher like the most popular Forrester?

Neither choice is stupid. Both choices are valid.
To me all westerosis look alike, so I saved the one with the sexiest bear, you gotta respect some powerful facial hair.
