I think having to choose among Kenny, Luke, and Jane would have been an interesting decision. Each had their own (albeit selfish) reasons fo… morer wanting to care for and be a mentor to Clementine. Go to the promised land (Kenny)? Return to Howe's (Jane)? Potentially form a new group (Luke)?
I took him as a racist, because he punched Lee even if you side with him. "I'm NOT letting a murderer come with US!" If he was gonna murder anybody, why wouldn't Le have done so while Larry was "out of commission" with his heart condition?
Just happened to catch your message when I opened this topic.
Funny thing is, if Larry was the protagonist and not Lee, imagine how many topics on this forum would all say "I don't trust Lee/Will Lee murder another person?/Keep Clementine away from Lee!"
Firstly... damn that was a quick reply.
Secondly, there we go. Especially from his military background, it's understandable why he's so against Lee for being a convicted murderer.
You can call him a racist as Lee, but I guess, come to think of it, he never said anything overtly racist. I think only one person in the game has really come off racist, but I guess it wasnt Larry, as unpleasant as he could be.
I think that's more of a cover story to protect himself, considering that Lee isn't yet willing to come clean to anyone that he's was on his way to prison for murder, and Larry knows about it.

I would've preferred an ending picking between Kenny, Jane or Luke, but all three of those characters surviving for another season in the process. No determinant status.

I think Kenny's racist comment was more referring to black people stereotypically having the ability to pick locks if that actually is true? Lol. But is he a racist deep down? He did willingly save Christa's life and he helped deliver Rebecca's baby. He was around black people frequently, he never seemed to have anything against him. I know racist people can't bear to even look at someone opposite to him or her so I don't think he is racist lol

Yep we could have had so much more if Christa and Omid had been around through all of Season 2. It would have been great showing all their reactions that Kenny had lived, scenes with possibly Kenny arguing with Christa and Omid about something, conversations between them all about Lee/Season 1 etc. Many possibilities i felt they cheaply wasted. I think Omid should have died by Carver, giving him a heartbreaking death, maybe because of his fun, optimistic nature which rubbed Carver the wrong way and Omid gets beaten to death? I would have hated Carver more for it but he'd be an even more hated antagonist then. Christa could have been there for when Rebecca delivers the baby and reveals that she lost her baby but would make sure Rebecca's baby survives?
Just so many possibilities i think Season 2 writers truly wasted. It's a shame
Really? I may be the asshole in town, but I do believe most of the characters people mentioned are just blank.
Luke? A strong character? Why? He was nice to the kid...as expected, wants to survive...as expected, has some tragedy behind him that we hear him talk about but never see...as expected. No defining traits or characteristics, not many flaws besides just disliking Kenny because and being a little hot headed... Omid made some jokes but...what else? Sarah? People really wanted to see Sarah made it out? Why? The game isn´t even brave enough to go full compromise with the "special person" thing, and doesn´t seem like she was less clever than other characters, in fact, she´s just Duck 2.0.
I don´t complain, the one thing I like about the Walking Dead IP in general is that most character are bland, uninspired and blank pages that can be filled on the spot for other characters, and that way you can kill more characters which is short of expected of a zombies themed franchise. Why would I want to see more of Luke, Omid, Carlos, Sarah, Ben or any of those when the most likely thing is that we will encounter those "personalities" again and again?

Agreed mostly. I liked Omid for what he was, but I feel that people give characters like him get a free ride because they are quirky and funny even though they don't contribute much to the drama. Can you imagine if he was at the forefront of the game? It would basically be a sitcom, which definitely wouldn't be a good thing imo.
Luke is a nice guy and everything but he lacks that edge you need to really carry these games foward. Lee had it, Kenny had it and even Jane had it (which to me was a big reason why she dethroned him as Clementine's 1st or 2nd best friend, Kenny being the other)
I think Sarah had some potential though, as a friend near Clementine's age. She never really had that since Duck, which seems like a long time ago now. I didn't really see Sarah as similar to Duck. Even he was less scared and anxious than her.

Kid. Vaguely mentioned that is somehow mentally handicap. Irrelevant to the plot. Game makes you worry about when they are destine to be dead weight. Emotional death about choices. Eventually just a casualty made to toughen up another character and create conflict among more relevant characters.
Yeah I see why they are totally different archetypes that don´t serve the same purpose.
For me Personaly it's gotta Be Luke. They could've create so many interesting scenarios involving Clem, Luke, Kenny, Jane, Bonnie, Arvo And the Baby. But it felt flat in the end product.
The Cabin Survivors. Except maybe Luke and Rebecca. I didn't particularly like Luke, his character was all over the place in my opinion. Rebecca lasted longer than what I expected, she was one of the better characters in S2.

Neither do i but if we class Omid as a fan favourite, he'd be getting killed off similar to Glenn in the comics. I'd hate it but it would break fans hearts and we all know how telltale are good at that
Yeah, I didnt like that either. I stopped reading the comics regularly after that. I also really hated that Kenny did that to Carver. I have a thing about people being beaten to death. To be honest, Im getting tired of having my heart broken lol

She is the Duck of season 2. She is the innocent creature that doesn't belong in the new world.
She lives behind her rose tinted glasses and the second her dad died life became too hard.
Probably the only character with 0 potential.

Jane was walking purposefully away from the rest, towards that observation deck. The sooner she could get away from these people, the better. After the trailer ordeal, she just had to think for a while. But—
“I’m going to check on Sarah.”
Clem’s voice, drifting through those falling-apart brick arches, echoed ever so slightly.
“Hey Sarah…you know soon Rebecca’s starting to—”
“They were going to leave me…weren’t they?”
The voices stopped Jane in her tracks on the other side of those ruins, hidden from view. But before she could think, Clem started talking again, and Jane found herself rooted to the spot.
“…Jane didn’t mean what she said. I think she gets scared too, about what might happen…”
The brick was suddenly slick with sweat as Jane found herself clutching it...
“How come…you didn’t leave me?”
A small pause.
“…Because we’re friends.”
“…I could never be that good of a friend….”
Jane could probably never be either…
“I just want my dad!”
“I know…”
An age-old conversation, from a lifetime ago…a similar young female voice…
“I just want Mom and Dad…”
“…Yeah….”
“When he…when he gets here, we should all go back to the cabin. We’re safe there.”
Jane focused on the grass at her feet, doing her best to concentrate on the green blades, the soil, the broken-up asphalt, and not on the taste of bitter bile building in her mouth…
“Sarah…your dad…you know he isn’t coming, right? …Sarah?”
A dry swallow. Eyes closed. A shaky, shuddering exhale as she heard those small dry sobs echoing…
“Hey, I think that’s all she can take for now. She’ll be all right.”
Jane took a small step back, arms involuntarily hugging herself as she realized the conversation was over. She leaned against the aged brick wall in relief, eyes closing, a twig snapping under her boot loudly.
The smallest rustling, from around the bend. It could have been a mouse. And then—
“H-hello?” A small voice asked.
Jane’s eyes snapped open, bringing her back to reality.
Out of the corner of her eye, the woman spied the dark-haired girl, red-framed glasses making her wide eyes look a bit bigger than they normally would, peeking at Jane from around the corner of that solid brick archway.
As Jane looked up, the girl almost ducked back, but something in the older’s expression seemed to stop Sarah from pulling away completely.
Jane didn’t know what to say. What would you say to a girl you'd just been advocating to leave behind to her death not too long ago?
They simply looked at each other for a moment, neither with any words to offer. It seemed Sarah was in shock at what she was seeing. Here was the lone wolf, the fearless one, suddenly looking as scared and upset as Sarah herself was feeling. What was going on?
“…A-are you o-ok-kay?” the younger managed to get out.
Jane glanced at her despondently before quickly looking away, dry mouth not allowing her to speak.
The girl peeked at her unsurely for a time, not able to really hold eye contact, rubbing her hands together before frowning at the ground in a shivery sort of way and finally stepping away, almost seeming to fade away. But—
“I—” Jane spluttered.
Sarah turned the tiniest bit, still trembling ever so slightly. Still with that fear in her eyes.
“I…I'm sorry.” The last word was a hoarse whisper. The woman cleared her throat. “For…what I said back there….and what I did.”
For a moment, it looked like Sarah appreciated Jane’s words…until she saw the slight shine in the girl’s eyes, that looked suspiciously like—
Fuck.
“Do you really think that I…that I would...'bring others down with me'…?”
Jane swallowed. “I—I was…just, really afraid of, of—”
Sarah squeaked something out then, but Jane, in all her stunning social graces, nearly talked over her. “What?”
“…I’m sorry…”
Now it was Jane’s turn to be surprised.
“…I’m sorry about your sister.”
And then that too-familiar burning returned to Jane’s throat as well.
“Thanks,” the woman managed.
With that, Sarah stumbled back to the spot where Clementine had left her, her back to Jane.
Jane took one hesitant foot forward, but then…figured she had done enough. She'd probably just upset the girl more, with her track record. Maybe it was best to do as Rebecca said, and leave her alone.
After all, there was the observation deck to attend to…
It happened almost in silent slow motion, as Jane saw Sarah fall away behind her, as the ground beneath Jane's feet suddenly disappeared as well, and she felt the world fall away...
But a warm hand held her aloft, held her head from going under. And that hand’s owner was yelling something…Jane looked to her right, and saw the dead walking towards her, and suddenly all the sound of the world returned to her in a rush of blood to the head. Oh shit.
“Sarah! Hang on!” Luke was screaming.
“Fuck! Fuck, hurry! I can’t hold on!” Jane pled. Oh fuck, she had survived so long on her own, and now she was going to go out like this?
“AAAH! HELP ME!” Sarah was sobbing now. Jane saw Clem besides Luke, within arm’s reach. But the kid was staring at her trapped friend on the ground.
“Clem! Come on!”
“Jane! Save Sarah!” Clem cried, looking between the two.
Jane couldn't believe what she was hearing. “Are you crazy? There’s no way she’s getting out of that!”
“We can’t leave her without even trying! Just go!” the kid insisted urgently, her amber eyes meeting Jane's.
Jane grimaced, reluctant to go head-first into a death trap. But if Clem thought if might work….Jane let go of Luke's hand, dropping herself down to that parking lot now overrun by walkers, turning to the terrified girl.
She sped over, checking the rubble on top of Sarah as she ran. This actually didn't look so bad…maybe Jane could get her out of this…
It was only a couple planks, and part of the fence railing. She lifted the pieces directly on the girl—
“Okay, move!”
“I can’t! Help me, somebody help me!” Sarah screamed, panicking.
“I’m trying! You have to listen to me!”
“Sarah! You have to trust Jane!” Clem called down.
BANG! CRACKOOM!
Jane looked up; Bonnie and the others were covering Jane and Sarah the best they could. There were still some walkers coming, but they at least had some seconds—
Jane turned to Sarah, and saw the young teen trembling from head to foot, breathing too fast, tears in her eyes, yet still scrambling to get out of the debris. Jane swallowed.
BANG! Another walker down. They were getting closer, but they still had time—
The last time Jane had seen Jaime, the girl was unresponsive and unmoving, not even reacting to the walkers about to tear her and her sister’s flesh apart. But Sarah, she was alert, she was trying to survive—
“Sarah!”
The girl in question focused on Jane, brown watery eyes meeting the older hazel ones.
—Maybe, this time it could be different.
“Listen, maybe—maybe I was wrong about you! Maybe you can make it through this! But you've got to help me out here!”
“Y’all better hurry up down there! We're runnin’ outta ammo!” Bonnie cried. Somewhere above, Rebecca shrieked painfully, as the gunfire and rasp of the oncoming walkers continued like some horror movie—
Sarah looked at Jane pleadingly, the teen trying to swallow as the chaos around her continued. But her eyes never left Jane's face.
“What—what do I do?” the girl asked urgently.
“Lift, or shift this plank somehow, from underneath! If I can free it—”
Jane wasn’t sure if her words had reached Sarah’s ears, as Jane was momentarily distracted by one lone walker shuffling its way toward them—but after a moment, the plank trapping Sarah started to budge, as Sarah seemed focused on it—
Yes! Jane lifted it, and it was free! She lifted the other board, and—
“Okay, go, go! Get out!”
Sarah was able to wriggle out, splinters catching her clothes and skin and hair, but otherwise she was free! The teen shimmied up the fallen deck breathlessly, as Jane turned to the walker, taking it out with a quick blow to the head, before following Sarah and making her escape up the deck away from the other walkers, heart hammering.
She stood there, doubled over, trying to catch her breath, before—
“Ya did it!” Luke cried, and before she could do anything, he swept the still-trembling Sarah and the confused Jane into one big bear hug. Clem just grinned from behind Luke's back, as Jane’s arms were pinned down awkwardly in Luke’s embrace. Jane caught Sarah’s eye, and though there were still tears in the teen’s eyes, Sarah was smiling at her too.
Jane returned it, her heart lifting. "I guess we did."
I would've really liked to see Jane successfully save Sarah from her observation deck death, and for Jane to really believe Sarah could get … morethrough the ZA too. Then Sarah could've been alive longer, and imagine how Sarah'd feel if Jane--a character who for so long, didn't want to believe that kids could possibly make it in the apocalypse--actually believed in Sarah then and there. It could be the beginning of a meaningful relationship between the two of them.
I would pay big bucks to see this concept turn into a fanfiction.
Big.
Bucks.
$$$
But anyway, it'd be such a heart ache to see Jane trying her hardest to understand Sarah's mind, but not exactly saying the right things given how much terror she's used to, and how much emotion she doesn't let out.

Doug.
That's an interesting take. I like it. But I don't know if Luke would fight Kenny, let alone Jane, who he'd grown feelings for.
Has Larry ever shown any concrete evidence that he is, in fact, a racist?
As far as I know, no. His antagonism towards Lee was because of his criminal background, not because he was black.

After all, there was the observation deck to attend to…
...............................................................................................
