Would Kirkman lie?
Seen several people say "Kirkman confirmed that Rick is not in a coma". Kirkman has planned a very long comic series that has also gotten him big tv ratings, and games. If someone figured out how he was going to finish the series long before it's end do you think he'd confirm it? Tell them that they are right years before?

He might lie, but probably not in this case.( He lied about the aliens before) It was all a dream trope is an overused cliche at this point. I hope that this is is not a coma dream.
most definitely not
he is a true pillar of character
I really doubt Kirkman would go with a cheap ending like "he's in a coma," which is probably why he said he wasn't. So, I don't think he'd go back on that.
To be fair, he lied to Image about the aliens because no publisher would pick up a comic about zombies, as none had ever been successful before The Walking Dead.
There's no reason to lie about the coma, since The Walking Dead is hugely popular and he doesn't need to make up a lie to get anyone to publish his story at this point.
Kirkman is not above lying; he has done it before about the aliens, as @Darkly pointed out, but he also lied pretty recently, with the whole #PackageFromWoodbury and #WoodburyIsWaiting craziness. So, quick (sorta) explanation for those who doesn't know what it is.
TL;DR: He lied for a mobile game promotion.
One day, RK and other The Walking Dead fans who legitimately hadn't been contacted, received a weird package on their door, including a weird assortment including a bloody polaroid picture, a rusty key, some creepy hairs tied with a lace and an incomplete letter.
Some of the polaroids had a letter (A,B,C) written on the back. People started getting organized on Twitter, and after figuring out the hashtag #WoodburyIsWaiting, arrived at an IG account (@walkingdeadrts). This profile eventually posted a phone number (912-307-3075) with daily updates about the outbreak, along with creepy clips you can watch on the IG profile. It was really amazing!
So in the end, it turned out to be a carefully prepared promotion for the mobile game Road To Survival. Kirkman then confirmed to have known the plan all along.
I don't know if I would consider that a lie. But sure, Robert Kirkman is not above misleading us for effect. He does so fairly often with the issue cliffhangers.
But "lying" is way too strong a word for that.
Rick being in a coma would be the dumbest move ever made. Kirkman probably recognizes this and has decided not to do it.
Of course there is reason to lie about Rick not being in a coma. If everyone knew he was in a coma they wouldn't care about the Walking dead because it's just a dream.
There's no reason to even mention it though, that's my point. He wouldn't make up a lie for something now when he has nothing to gain from it like he did when he started. If there was a possibility that Rick was still in a coma, he'd just ignore that fan theory like every other theory that's been brought up about what caused the infection in The Walking Dead.
Robert Kirkman just posted that he received a creepy Woodbury package (which he did, as he didn't physically create it himself), and he asked fans what it means.
Maybe I missed something, but I never saw Robert Kirkman ever lie about that promotion.
He was quoted (according to people here) as to saying that Rick is NOT in a coma. So my question is would he lie about it? My guess is he was asked the question after the series was out. So when people say "He said Rick is not in a coma" I don't find that very reliable because I don't think he would be honest even if Rick were in a coma as it would ruin the rest of the story
He's been asked a lot of questions over the years about the infection. People have asked if it was a virus created by the government, if it was a natural infection caused by changes in the environment, etc. He's always dodged those questions. He's never answered whether they are true or not.
The fact that Robert Kirkman outright dismissed the coma dream theory means that there is absolutely no way that Rick could still be in a coma, since if there was a possibility that Rick was in a coma, he wouldn't have lied about it, he'd just dodge the question like he always does.
