They did it frame for frame. It was amazing. I can't wait to see Carl after this, he's going to chance.

I was still so shocked they did it, I thought it would be the same as Rick losing a hand, it'd be to hard to do

  • You go, bud. Eat that shit.

If Richonne isn't confirmed this season, I will eat shit. Luckily, I picked up a method from that fucking orgasmic episode. “If you have to eat shit, best not to nibble. Bite, chew, swallow, repeat.”

Well not quite, i feel they kind of glorified rick in the tv version a lot more. In the comics Jessie is screaming and begging rick for help and he just ditches her after telling her to leave sam. In this one shes just kind of broken and stood there.

  • He has the same reaction in the comic and you'll be surprise what adrenaline and shock can do to dull the pain.

It seems like Carl had no idea he had been shot. He didn't scream or anything, which is kind of… unrealistic? -says the person in a zombie game forum- Carl was just going to ask, "Dad, is it raining? My face is wet and chilly."

Still pretty close though, I like that they did the hand chop still, and the eye shot was well done

  • I was just thinking about that woman who was stabbed in the back of her neck when she was mugged when I was reading your comment. If I recall, she walked all the way home and didn't even realize that she had a knife sticking out of her neck the entire time.

Thankfully, she made a full recovery.

Watched the show for some popcorn entertainment and when I have nothing better to do. Didn't bother watching the rest of that ep because I already knew what was going to happen (Rick and his grew escaped the walkers and found some new safe haven, or will do in the next ep). Not a fan of Rick or any of his crew (man people complain about season 2 game characters... Rick's crew make them seem like amazingly writtern characters imo). Only reason i'd ever watch now is to see Rick or any of his crew members taken down. The fact that most of them are still intact is a joke as it is.

  • @Lilacsbloom @RichWalk123 @Deltino @lottii-lu @DaveTheArakin I've read lots of accounts in which people state that they couldn't feel pain due to shock (excuse my memory, haha). That's most likely the reason why Carl didn't express pain, as you all said. I'm guessing that's an evolutionary trait so that the person can get away from danger before tending to their wound.

An interesting account was about a girl who got lost in the woods with a broken leg. She tied a wooden plank to it, and spent two days looking for someone, without feeling a single minute of pain. As soon as she had come across a group of hikers and had made sure that they had seen her, she collapsed on the floor, and was taken to a hospital. I read this a couple of years ago, no I'm not so sure about its accuracy.

It's from the shock. I fractured my arm once and I was so shocked from how it happened, I couldn't feel the pain from it.

  • It's how it will end eventually. When Rick or a key member of his crew gets killed, the show will have my full attention again. His brat losing an eye is not enough for me.

  • I kind of like that they scrapped the initial idea.

This way, it places a little, tiny, small bit of blame on Michonne for Carl getting hurt. If she had stabbed Ron in the head with her katana, that random shot couldn't have been fired.

  • Agreed. As you said, in the comic version, Jessie was still somewhat human-looking, so that rapid moral dilemma was a lot tougher to answer.

"Oh, she's begging for help! But she doesn't let go of Carl! But she's generic romantic interest, I can't leave her! Oh, but Carl's about to get bitten. Okay. Get your shit together, Rick! Chopping in 3, 2, 1--"

  • Yeah, I think its pretty realistic and more common than people think. The body is weird. I believe it was the same thing in the comic, Carl didnt scream or anything, just looked stunned, then fell over.

  • I thought you were going to say she was to blame for stabbing Ron at all, causing him to shoot wild. In either case, its not really her fault, just unfortunate happenstance. I never thought I would see Michonne kill a child but she doesnt hesitate when it comes to protecting her family.

  • Not only can the show survive without him, but it will be better without him if the writers step up. The man himself dying is most likely not gonna happen but i'm still hoping for one of his crew to get killed off soon.

    Yeah sorry but no

Killing Rick wouldn't be 'stepping up', it'd be taking a huge steaming crap all over the source material, which the writers have tried to avoid doing so far, for better or worse

  • I kinda thought they would still have Carl loose his eye, unlike Rick's hand, its a lot easier to just put an eye patch on then having to make a hand look missing.

Well, massive amount of bandages for a while

Key members of his group for me are:

    • Michonne

    • Daryl

    • Carol

    • Glenn

    • Carl

    • Judith

    • Maggie

    • Rick himself obviously

This is more or less his inner circle. Some no mark like Eugine dying would not cut it for me. Killing one of the other more newer members that hang around with him (Father Gabriel, Abraham) is not going to be good enough either.

Actually the shot would have been fired even if she had done the head chop thing. I forget the term but basically when you die from an attack your body recieves a jolt of energy causing your fingers to twich. So aslong as he had a finger on the trigger it was very likely he would get a shot.

  • Can AMC fire a few people and just have Seth Hoffman write most of the episodes alongside Gimple? I checked out his other credits, and damn, the dude's got some good ones under his name. "No Way Out", "Too Far Gone", "The Distance", "JSS", and a slew of good to great episodes he co-wrote, like "Us", "Claimed", "Self-Help", and "Conquer". "Crossed" is his only average episode, but that's more to blame on the hospital arc it was a part of. I mean, you look at that, and then you look at the people who have "Still" and "Now" to their credits, and it's like... lol. Speaking of which, Angela Kang and Corey Reed (the respective writers) are handling next week's episode together... god help us all.

But seriously, great episode and the second half of season 6 instantly starts off with miles more promise than most of the first half. There are certain plot points I don't exactly forgive from the first half, but this episode made perfect use of pretty much every scrap of setup from the first half that I don't feel as disappointed as I was before. Mind you, when this is all over, Season 6 will definitely be a big mixed bag of some of the series' greatest and worst moments, but for right now, I'm more than pleased with the results we got in the end.

  • I bet his little girlfriend will be impressed by his badass eyepatch.

  • Angela Kang and Corey Reed also co-wrote the Season 5 episode "Four Walls and a Roof," one of the best episodes of Season 5. Corey Reed has also written "Consumed" and "Forget" from Season 5, both great episodes. Angela Kang has also written some pretty good episodes, such as "Judge, Jury, Executioner," (Season 2) "Say the Word," (Season 3) "A" (Season 4) "Try," (Season 5) and "Thank You" (Season 6). Both are good and talented writers, but sometimes, maybe they just don't have the right story material to make the episode interesting. Even if someone like Gimple wrote an episode like "Now," it wouldn't be a good episode because there wasn't enough material to the episode that could have made it interesting, but at the same time, it served it's purpose, which was to give some of the characters development and set up a new story arc. And let's face it, even the best writers have bad episodes. Gimple, while he has episodes like "Clear" and "The Grove" to his name, has also written episodes like "Hounded" and "30 Days Without an Accident." As you stated, Seth Hoffman had written the episode "Crossed." Matthew Negrete has written episodes like "First Time Again" and "Indifference," but at the same time, has written episodes like "Start to Finish" and "Slabtown." All the writers on the show are good, even if they have a couple of bad episodes, not every episode can be a "Too Far Gone" or a "No Sanctuary," or a "No Way Out."

  • Am I the only one that is super pissed that Ron died?

  • Did you like his character? I wasn't the biggest fan.

My only issue with his death is that Michonne stabbed a kid with like no hesitation. Even though he was threatening Rick, I don't really like people killing kids.
