    Somebody kill me.

Lol I was just so done and devastated and traumatised. I then felt Asher would be the one who would volunteer to stay, and do the heroic thing. And that Rodrik would leave with the army, to at last, wreck some Whitehills. That was my main motivator; I didn't want anyone but Rodrik to kill Gryff and Ludd. I wouldn't accept anyone but Rodrik killing Gryff and Ludd. Such twisted sadism, though, that choice.

Edit: There was also no way I could let Gryff be the death of Rodrik. Especially after I stood up to him and said: "Do you know what they did to me at the Twins? Shred my face! Put their swords through me! They tried to smash my skull open! But they couldn't kill me... and you're not the man to finish the job."

  • I know your feelings Brother.

I didn't realize that one of them would die. I thought "Stay behind" meant that brother would hold the gate open for our troops while the other went to fight. I figured, "Rodrik is better go fight bro!" and accidentally chose Asher to die.

Had an existential crisis for about 5 minutes before deciding the rewind for my canon playthrough

  • ouh damn... But letting the troops in would be a good Idea...

I bet that was very surprising, huh?

  • First thought was exactly this: "Well... thats Game of Thrones for you...."

  • I was devastated! Rodrik and Asher are my two favourite characters. The second Rodrik said "The gate will fall without one of us holding it" I was all "No, no, no" "One of us has to stay" "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" I was so emotional. During the credits I even laid my head down on my drawer, I was devastated. I've been close to crying while playing a game but never got there, this scene has been the closest ever to make me cry.

  • That was very painful indeed, but hey, at least it gave Telltale the chance to change their "determinant character" reputation :) The saddest I've been was during Talia's song (the feels...) and when the surviving brother (Rodrik in my canon) said their "last words" and were about to be executed.

  • I think I was like "I'm so sorry Asher, but I never could kill Rodrik"
Rodrik is too fucking awesome to die "The next pike's for you, Ludd ! I'll see to it myself !"

  • Literally, when I first came to it, I paused and got up and left my computer and contemplated life for about an hour.

When I came back, I chose Rodrik because of Royland's previous quote of "How do you kill a Snake then? By smashing its head." While, yes, Asher takes up the position of Lord, by Ramsay's standards, the Whitehills won as soon as Rodrik died.

  • I shut myself off emotionally in order to survive. Seriously, Rodrik is my favorite character, but I never wanted Asher to die either. I never wanted any of the Forresters to die.

But in the end, I chose Asher to stay behind, because that's what my Asher would have done for his elder brother and for his family.

  • I just wasn't in the mood to retreat, haha.

Yeah it was surprising, felt very GOT though because it was the opposite of what I wanted to happen

  • I was like, "Telltale, I swear to god, I hate you so fucking much for killing one of my fav characters." But in the end I made Rodrik, my favorite character, stay behind for his little brother. I just felt like it was in-character to let Rodrik save Asher. And to be honest, I know this is pathetic, but when the credits came, I was about to slit my wrists. But then I remembered it was just a game and there's much more to live for, so I dropped the knife and put it back where I found it.

  • Plenty of thoughts went through my head right away. However, I picked Rodrik to stay behind rather quickly.

It just felt like something he would do. There's no way I could see Rodrik sacrificing his younger brother if he could help it, especially after telling Talia that he wished he could have been there to protect Ethan.

  • I feel like this was the only choice in the game that reeeeally made me upset.

I chose Asher to stay almost instantaneously, though. I just fell in love with Rodrik's character so much during the game and felt a bit distanced from Asher, firstly. Secondly, for "role playing purposes," I felt like Rodrik should be the one to stay because Asher had been gone so long from his family that Rodrik had more of a connection to them and preserving the family name. Also, just the way I played it, Rodrik was more level-headed and Asher was more war-orientated so I felt like Rodrik would make a better leader overall. In my mind, Rodrik would've thought if either of them had a chance to survive, it would've been Asher because he's much stronger than Rodrik. (Especially in Rodrik's weakened state).

    Anyway, sad choice, but I'm much more a Rodrik fan-girl. ;__;

  • yes, I know what you are feeling.. I love Rodrik very much too :D
Also Asher had one Task and Kinda failed it

  • This was by far the hardest choice ever given to us from telltale and mind as well be just that. When I approached it I was all like wow seriously? I chose Rodrik to survive because according to the maester he was "House forrester's best". Such a disappointment we received this choice since we really didn't get to know their true bond besides the fact that one sacrifices themself for the other.
