Philip Blake is Kenny

edited April 2015 in The Walking Dead

If you read the book The walking dead Rise of the Governor you will see that Philip Blake acted like the exact same person as Kenny except Philip Is a little bit more crazy.

  • I've not read the novel, but I can see that...minus the whole keeping walker heads hoarding and the gladiator games

  • That's Brian Blake

  • I believe you're talking about The Governor.
I believe that guy who served as the Governor's right-hand man, called him Philip.
And in Season 4, I believe that Brian was an alias The Governor started using.

  • In the novel there are 2 people, Philip Blake and Brian Blake. The OP is talking about Philip Blake who is a crazy motherfucker who got shit done, just like Kenny. Brian Blake on the other hand was a scared beta loser then entire time but then something something happens and Brian assumes the name Philip then he becomes even more crazy and eventually becomes The Governor from the comics. TV Governor and Comic Governor are completely different characters with completely different backstories.

  • The only similarities I can think of are that they both lost a child and that Phillip was shot by Brian like Kenny can be shot by Clem. They're not the exact same person.

  • They aren't alike at all.. Only similarities are the eye patch and the fact that they both lost their child(as MrAppleJuice said). The Govenor kept his daughter as a walker and even kissed it, he had a collection of actual heads, tortured people, raped people and murdered for supplies. I don't know how you see Kenny to be as crazy as that, the Governor is a cold blooded psycho man...

Carver is probably the most like The Governor in TWDG, but even he isn't as crazy as The Governor.

  • Actually nick shot him

  • ahhh, gotcha. 'Phillip' wasn't just an alias of the Governor's

  • Oh yeah i completely forgot, think its time i gave it a read again.

  • I thought that the Governor was Carver. They have the same system going; the brutal totalitarian settlement that he runs while convincing people his ways are right or downright lying to people and murdering anyone who threatens his system. Their personalities and stories are more similar to each other than his and Kenny's.

  • I think Carver was supposed to be the game's version of the Governor. the governor was an insane charismatic tyrant, so was Carver.

  • So is Kenny!
Honestly, how could anyone not be drawn to this?

  • Don't know anything about the comics, but the Governor from the show was a great character in my opinion. So was Kenny, but they aren't really anything like each other in terms of personality. Governor was basically a better version of Carver (one of the few things the show did better than the game). I never really brought that he would ever be bested by Rick (he was way too clever and manipulative for that), or that he would just magically forget that Michonne existed before he died. He was the best leader in the WD franchise i've seen so far.

  • Michonne takes out the Governor's eye. I think its pretty obvious that "the rise of the governor" would take place before anything in the comic. are the novels even canonical.

  • I think the governor looks most like Major Bludd from G.I.Joe.

Hitler was a tyrant. He commited genocide, and he used pattiotism as a means to justify it. Yet look at the huge following he had! He was held as the savior of Gemany.

Joseph Stalin was a tyrant. Yet he was held as the father of Russia. Despite having sent millions of people to the Gulag.

Jim Jones was a tyrant, who preed on members of his flock, and eventually convinced them to comit mass ritual suicide. He was a complete and utter madman! Yet look at how many follows he had under him.

you can't be charismatic and a tyrant most people with charisma don't have to bash in heads.

  • those guys we're charismatic, and you didn't see them bashing heads. Hitler didn't even have a confirmed kill from his stint in WW1, the German people committed genocide. Stalin wasn't charismatic he was a dirty cop who muscled his way in. Jim Jones wasn't really a tyrant just a zealot, and you had to join his cult to be subject to it, it wasn't like a county just his ranch.

  • Lol Kenny isn't anywhere near as extreme as that psycho. Yes, Kenny grieved over his lost child but he was a man enough to put him out of his misery and not keep him as a walker in some sort of demented fantasy land. Yes, Kenny has killed people often brutally but he always has a motivation in doing so which is protecting others. Philip killed a lot of people because he felt like it and had a sick fascination with death. The fact that this thread exists just goes to show how alive and well the Kenny hate is around here.
