North grove?

Did you stay in north grove or not? I couldn't decide if i must stay or go to help. What do you think about it?

  • I left the North Grove, place creeped me out.

  • Left it. It felt useless af, and my family is more important.

  • Yeah. But still i can't decide which one is better. almost everyone died. How can they help to Asher/Rodrik if they stay there? And also Lord Forrester said north grove must never be lost. It is important place. I am really confused about that.

  • Why did lord forrester say the north grove must never be lost. Didn't he know his home was already in danger when the others betrayed to them.

  • I think he meant his bastards must never be lost, not the grove.

  • Yeah it might be

I think he meant his bastards must never be lost, not the grove.

  • I left because a) we wouldn't survive wight attack after wight attack and b) House Forrester needs our help.

I didn't take Gregor's words at face value... rather I think that he was thinking of protecting his bastards and not the grove itself. Nobody else knows about the bastards and he didn't want to just outright reveal his dark secret right before he died. If he didn't tell Gared those words then they'd be stuck waiting for their father for a long long time if not forever.

  • you're right. Its better than staying. If they stay they can't help anyone.

  • I stayed for three reasons,

    1. I butchered Cotter. If I left after that, Cotter would have died for nothing.

    2. Lord Gregor's last words. 'The North Grove must never be lost'. Out of everything he could have said he said must NEVER be lost. He didn't say 'Find the North Grove', he said to make sure it is never lost.

    3. Ironrath was already lost. In my playthrough, Gryff had just taken over Ironrath had Rodrik rode off after being helped by his Sentinel, Royland, who escaped the battle with Talia. I do think we will take it back in Season 2 but a few wildlings and a bear won't win against hundreds of Whitehill soldiers.

  • How will they find there? Royland didn't hear anything about north grove. Actually they cannot help Asher/Rodrik from there.

  • I stayed because I felt Gared's very mission was to find and protect The North Grove. It clearly has power and I hope we get to find out what power it does hold.

To me it seemed stupid to leave, they would never get passed the Wall and I'm not sacrificing Gared anymore. I felt the only way I could protect Gared would be to stay. Of course I was thinking of House Forrester but in the scene previous to that I had just seen Ironrath fall, I wasn't going to risk Gared's life on the whim that they could even make it back to Ironrath never mind much else. I had scarified Cotter for The North Grove, if I left then the whole reason I butchered Cotter would have been lost.

The words of Lord Forrester, 'The North Grove must never be lost.' was going through my head during all the Gared scenes in episode 6, I did everything I could to honour those words. I definitely think Lord Forrester meant the Grove itself when he said those words, I doubt he meant Josera and Elsera. The North Grove is important enough for Lord Forrester to trust his squire with the secret, it has to be important in some way. It might not save House Forrester right now but we don't know what power it has yet, we should give it a chance.

  • I stayed.

    • I worried enough about getting Gared there. It wouldn't be easy to get past the Wall.
    • I feel like there's still more about that place to learn about. Something important.
    • I killed Cotter, figured I'd make it worthwhile.
  • I left it because:
    1) The forresters.
    2) If a white walker show it, it probably will be a losing battle.
    3) Maybe we can find a ship to easily go to Ironrath.
    4) I guess the locals was people who survive the Long Night from 8000 years ago by hibernate, and when they wake up they lost their identity, so no thanks if that the survival.
