About Telltale's games

Well, i wanted to talk about telltale's games. I am big fan of telltale's games. So all walking dead series, minecraft story, borderline and all these games are cool, at all these games are telling us "the game series adapts to the choices you make" and at these games while you have making a desicion, DOESN'T changes the story, maybe a little bit, not too much. Exemple: at the walking dead season1 episode 2 ending we had to make a desicion took the food or not. No matter what you are going to steal the food want that or not.. Another exemple: season 2 saving luke.. He still going to die no matter what... So all i want to say i and maybe all the telltale game players want more in these games, like smallest desicions could dramaticly change the all story, like you accidently didnt pressed the button on time or wrong button- changes the story. We all want that every choises matters to the game, like the 'until dawn' was perfect game, soo many endings, many desicions, accidently killing someone. Thats it. Thank you for reading this, respond.

  • Type here what do you think about that

  • Thanks for respond. But still this is kinda lame... But still playable

  • Its disappointing, and when the truth hits you you feel cheated. At least that was how I felt, disenchanted.

  • I think it sucks. They're improving though. They should take their time when making episodes. Take 6 months if you will telTale but do not give us half baked episodes!

That's one thing I disliked about TWD:M, they shouldn't set such a tight limit (1 month!) between episodes. They should've said that they would try to have monthly releases instead of making it a rule. The result was a rather disappointing episode that had a lot of portential. Maybe 2 more weeks to add some branches would've made it a masterpiece.

I still love their games, though. While choices and gameplay kinda suck the story and the characters are always awesome.

  • More save Nick or Pete choices and less leave tommorow or leave in a few days. In TFTB, TT did a pretty exceptional job on this kind of thing from time to time. Made it feel like you got a whole different experience. Yeah it goes back to the same story eventually, but keep blurring the story with these kind of choices and we'll see less complaints about these sort of things.

  • I don't really see much of a problem, the message states that the games are tailored to how you play. It says nothing about the decisions having an overall effect on the direction of the story itself, but your experience playing it will differ from the next person because of those choices. For instance I have watched my brother make different choices to me, and I'll sit there and think things like "Oh, now he won't get that bad ass moment where Ben stands up to Kenny" which I greatly appreciated in my own play through. I actually think they will remedy the complaints people have with Season 3, but up until now, they haven't really promised what they haven't delivered, it's just been clever wording.

  • Let me put this in a few words.
Telltale games: You are going from point A to Z no matter what, please choose which route you will take to arrive to point Z.
    Freaking simple as that.

P.S. At least the routes are quite different from each other. Most of the times.

  • Well game of thrones is cool game. You are right, but still rarely it can happen at telltale's games

  • The episodes are mostly already made, they just use the month to polish them. It would be impossible to do that much work in one month

  • I agree, they could easily do more like this. It does not require THAT much writing.

The writing's not really the difficult part of having diverging paths, it's all the other work that has to be done; VO sessions, models, animations, design, code, etc. The writing isn't necessarily what's holding them back from making more meaningful choices, it's getting all of the scenes wired up and working correctly along with all the additional resources it takes to get the job done.

  • You're right, but extra work always pays off right? Everyone is annoyed with choices not really changing the story.

  • Theres no excuse to not put in the extra work now, the company is much bigger and have the resources, it was understandable with WD s1 but now its wasting potential.

I'm not defending it, they should invest more in getting more divergent with their stories. I feel they've been moving in the right direction with most of their recent series, though (with the exception of Michonne sadly, which was a bit of a step backwards, besides Pete in episode 2)

  • Honestly if you are bothered by the lack of effect from decisions, you should just play through the games once and not go online to look at everyone else's experiences. Once you do that you'll notice the illusion of choice but on a blind playthrough you really can't tell a difference and it does feel like your decisions matter. Pretty lame advice but it's the only solution as opposed to TTG suddenly getting a whole lot better at branching stories

  • The food decision is still a good one. If you didn't steal, the stranger will say he wasn't coming after lee, just the other group. The only annoying thing is that you can be the best protector, and the stranger will still criticise you on choices you had no control over like going to the dairy or coming to Savannah.
Season two choices were worse. All the building of nick and Sarah was for nothing. Sarah more so because of her being sheltered and the amount of effort to help her just for nothing.
Telltale got sloppy in season two.
