How do you feel about Javier as the secondary protagonist for Season 3?

Personally, I think it'll be good, it worked well in both GOT and TFTB. Also the marking on his neck matching the walkers seems pretty interesting as well. But I hope it's like a 70/30 type of deal. Obviously Clem gets the 70% while Javier get the 30%.

  • I'd detest it if they overshadowed the new protagonist. No offense to you or to your idea but that sounds awful, Javier (unlike Clem) needs development.

  • What? "Personally I think the idea is cool and I find Javier interesting, I hope he gets the least amount of play time". That made zero sense.

  • I like it, but they need a fair share of time, or at least a system that was in Tales. That system was very good in making us connected to both protagonists, although, we are already connected to Clem.

  • Not much to go by yet, but I see nothing to dislike currently.

  • I am not sure how I feel about Javier yet ,given we only have information about him from the short Teaser Trailer and mini bio on The Walking Dead wiki page. But from what I seen so far I am opened to see how he develops and what he has to offer.

  • Personally, I hope in certain parts of the game you get to choose whether to be Clem or Javier to tackle that part.

What I was trying to say was that I hope Clem gets more screentime than him.

  • I don't know. We know nothing about him yet. I'll judge when the season premieres.

  • Well so far he seems pretty generic and sounds pretty generic and I don't like his name but I'm sure he'll grow on us

  • Why don't you like the name?

  • could it be anymore stereotypical? if i'm not mistaken it's your first name right? if so, no offense.

i come from a Sicilian background, and usually Italians in media are flooded with stereotypical names. if TTG has an Italian character named Mario or Giovanni, i'd think i'd either say cool or wtf, depending on how he's potrayed. i'm just glad they didn't make Lee's last name Johnson.

  • Yep, it's my first name, and it's okay, no offense taken. Well I wouldn't say it's that much stereotypical. There're far more stereotypical spanish names such as Daniel, Carlos, Juan, Antonio, Jose, Maria, Rosa... I don't consider them ugly or anything though. They're just names. To be honest, before Lee Everett was born, I used to associate the Lee name with Chinese/Asian culture, especially with Bruce Lee, and frankly I don't think that's a common name for an african-american man. But now whenever I hear Lee I always think of TWD's Lee and the name grew on me a lot. XD Now I love the Lee name.

  • Could be wrong but I don't believe anyone said he'd be the secondary protagonist.

  • Nothing against the name itself, it just doesn't feel right compared to all the other strong character names we've gotten. Feels like a generic name that the writers just drew from a hat, idk.

I'm sure Telltale will prove me wrong though and he'll end up being one of my all time favorites. It's just gonna take some getting used to.

  • Javier is in probably so players can make group decisions without making it unrealistic like it was with season 2 with adults listening and going to a 10 year old. I have no problem with him being in.

  • Oh well, I guess it's not a common name in the USA. We don't have many Lee's, Clem's or Kenny's in Spain either lol. :P

  • Yeah, not really a common name depending on where you live. I live in Texas and I've only known one Javier who spelled it Xavier, I think he was from Venezuela. Haven't known any Clementine's but I've met a couple Lee's and Kenny's :)

  • That's nice, I'd love to name my kids Clem, Lee or Kenny, if I have the chance. :)

  • Clementine would be a very pretty name for a little girl :)

Funny thing is, my son was born around when I first played TWD and I really wanted to name him Kenny. His mother completely refused though haha, can't say I really blame her though.

  • Oh wow, that's cute. XD I don't even have a girlfriend at the moment to be honest, so I realize it's soon for me to already think about how to name my kids haha. But i would really like to name them like that if I have them someday. :)

  • Well no need to rush things and have a kid young like me! So don't worry you have a long time before then and your tastes in names might change :) or maybe it'll stay the same who knows haha

I like him so far. I mean, I know it's just a teaser, but I just like every bit of it, and Javier too, his voice, his background story seems interesting, all this stuff. But, he is a new character, and we, players, care for Clementine as if she was our daughter, so it's important for Javier... to prove himself worthy, lol? :D We don't just let anyone hang out with our precious Clem :Ъ So, I'm curious how Telltale will go about introducing Javier to the player, and excited, too.

Also, they did mention in their blog that

You'll play as both Javier and Clementine through the course of the season, but exactly how that works is one of the exciting details we're not quite yet ready to reveal.

From which I assume that it won't be just TFTB or GOT-like experience, but something new, which maybe will help with introducing Javier in particular? I can't wait to discover anyway.

  • Honestly I really don't give a shit about Javier. I don't care about him cause he's probably gonna die at the end of the season and I'm betting this season is gonna play like Border Lands. I really don't want to be forced to play as two characters. Telltale made WALKING DEAD a hit because of the way the game was portrayed, changing it will piss people off. Ex.) Resident Evil 0-4 was SURVIVAL HORROR. Resident Evil 5-6 was THIRD-PERSON-SHOOTER. Compare the ratings and you'll know what I mean.

  • We don't know a thing about him yet so can't judge

  • I will be happy of TTG gives us the option to switch between characters whenever, and ONLY if we want ( I will be as clem the whole game * ^ ^ * )

    • I will be happy IF

  • I'm not sure, but I hope he gets better development than Luke who was USELESS in the story.

Javier looks too much like Barbie's Ken to me.

  • I don't know how I feel about him yet. I'm gonna have to wait until the game is out to form an opinion on him.

  • Names like: Kenny, Lilly, Lee, Luke, Sarah, Bill, Nick, Jane etc? Because all of these names are typical names in the US. I don't see a problem with a guy named Javier, seeing as it is a very common Spanish name.

Nothing against the name itself, it just doesn't feel right compared to all the other strong character names we've gotten. Feels like a gen

  • I think its impossible to feel anything about him or having two playable yet, we havnt seen how its been implemented. Im not that crazy about having more than one in the walking dead though

  • I think it's a great idea of Telltale adding him as a protagonist to the game, even though we still don't know much about him.

Here's hoping that there won't be any inconsistent time between Javier and Clem's POVs...

    enter image description here

  • I just hope it's not gonna be something like: we play as Clementine right up to a really exciting point and then switch to the second protagonist and have the excitement die out.

  • I feel pretty meh about another playable character. But i want to give him a chance.

  • finally we get some Raza in this game, ahuevo. Kappa

  • I never said there was anything wrong with it. All I said was that it doesn't feel right yet and I even admitted that I'll probably end up liking it

  • But you did say it feels like a generic name. While you're right, the examples above show that many, if not most characters in the game have generic names as well.

Im actually really hyped about Javier. I don't really like playing as a little girl. Im also guessing that Javier is going to do most of the physical and killing stuff..

  • It's cool so far. I'd like him to look a little less pretty boy though. That's not to say he can't look good, just that he looks a little too standard handsome protagonist right now, considering the genre, Idk. Not a big deal though

  • Having two protagonists works out. People who wanted to play as a new character get what they want, and people who wanted to play as Clem get what they want.
