Season 3 Kenny Hype thread

Let us gather the mighty army of the Saltlick Master here, and start the hype train of him returning in season 3.

Personally, after all the endings we could get out for season 2, I hope that "determinant" won't be like a death mark to any characters. It would be great if we could stick with the characters we go with at the end^^

Any thoughts?

I can't to believe that Telltale can kill Kenny / Jane in the first 10 minutes. I think they have learned the lesson from the 2 season and Kenny / Jane will be alive all over 3 season.

If not, I'll just refund my money on Steam.

  • I bet he's gone in the first episode. Remember that Determinant characters get irrelevant deaths. Nick, Doug/Carley, Sarah, etc.

    If you left with Kenny:

The game opens up with Kenny saying "Thanks for sticking with me, Clem! You don't know how much this means to me." Then a tree falls over on him and he dies.

If you went into Wellington with AJ:

The game opens with Clementine walking into Wellington. She turns around to say goodbye one last time only to see a T-Rex pop out of the bushes and eat Kenny.

^Pretty sure it will go something like that.

  • Well guys, that's what I was sayin, telltale got a lot of complaint about being determinant means the character dying BUT if you played game of thrones you know from the last episode that being determinant doesn't mean the character will die. If they keep killin determinant characters they'll lose a lot of money though, so there goes their motivation imo

  • Hahaha, a T-Rex! That would almost make me wish I hadnt shot him.

  • Would be great to see Kenny return for me. One of the best characters i've ever seen in any videogame ever. I wonder what his friendship with a more grown up Clementine would be like. Would be interesting to see.

  • Man I hope telltale grows a pair and actually make our choices matter. Given that the choice between Kenny and Jane is the biggest to date I'd say that's a small chance of happening.

For once I'd like to actually feel like having an impact on the story. Nothing since picking between Doug and Carley really changed the narrative setup.

He and Jane don't even have to stick around the entire time, there's lots of ways of writing them into the plan without them being on screen constantly or dominating the roles.

In season 3, Kenny's beard will be so long, that he will have to either cut it, or put it in pigtails like Clementine.

Imagine Kenny's pigtail beard for season 3...
    Such a weird sight

  • 100% Kenny will end up dying at the start\middle of the episode 2 just like he returned in season 2,he will die...most dramatic death.same with jane she will die in ep 2,no matter what the choices we made.

  • Get ready to refund then, there's no chance they'll be there for the whole season. They might be alive but they'll definitely stay off screen.

  • TTG is going to pull something up, I let Kenny live and stayed at Wllington, I am sure that I am going to see him again. Not dying so easy (if he dies at all). TTG can work this out for us, interaction with Ken will be great as always.

  • I actually think Season One determinants were given pretty big roles.

Carley/Doug managed to save the group, deter the incoming St. John brothers at the motor inn, had an impactful death, were meant to haunt Lee and whoever he saved, and had a ton more lines than determinants from Season Two. Plus, Clem remembers them pretty well, something I doubt she can really say for most Season Two characters (bar anyone who affects her current story directly). The only problem is that they handled Doug slightly worse than Carley prior to the Lilly shooting. Ben's survival (or lack thereof) is written as the culmination of his redemption arc and has about as much thought put into it (if not more so) as the substituting scenes for when he's not around, which mostly give the spotlight to Omid and Christa (and they sorta needed that development, considering people have thought that they're pretty flat characters). He is also recalled by other characters well beyond his death as opposed to the cabin group's (basically) one-off mentions, as Lee can express regret for endangering Ben while dying at the jewelry store, and Vernon determinantly mentions him as one of the people the cancer survivors stole the boat from. He's also one of the few characters Clementine has a keepsake of--the sticker on her lighter was one of the ones given to her by Ben.

Season Two and 400 Days determinants had potential as determinants in Season Two, but the effort just doesn't seem to have been there (in In Harm's Way and onwards). Same goes for Michonne determinants. With the end of Season Two, we not only have Kenny and Jane, but also any "loose ends" characters we may come across in either ending (Lilly, Christa, Eddie, and Arvo, although I'm guessing they would be in the alone ending) and newcomers (like Edith and Gill, although there could be people Clem meets between Season Two and teaming up with Javi), and they could be around with something as easy as copycat dialogue. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. I think they sorta did well with Sam's determinant status differences, the only things I'm iffy about being what made her die in the first place and the fact that she doesn't seem to have any other thoughts beyond thanking Michonne for saving her.

  • Done

The thread needs it too, actually.

Sorry if I spoiled anything for you.

  • One of my biggest cirticisms of Season 2 is how they handled Sarah and Nick.

  • i don't think Kenny or Jane will appear in season 3. I sadly feel Telltale will take the cowards way out and use cheap crap such as having Clem mention their names in dialogue depending on who you went with if any at all. So if you went with Kenny, she'll say "he died at some point when i was with him" and she'll say the same for Jane. I can just see them taking the easy/lazy option in doing that as a way to write out the characters from the game. However i truly hope i am wrong. I would just be happy to see some sort of scene showing Kenny or Jane and that our choices felt like they bloody mattered for once. If they are in Season 3 i expect them to not be around for long but hope they are given a decent send off.

  • Perfect

    You mean...

  • I was joking because...it obivously won't happen. :D

  • Really hoping telltale doesn't just kill Kenny and Jane, even if they make it to episode 5, and if it really got to a point of where they had to die, I think it would be better if they got seperated and left unknown to stop the "all determinates must die."

  • You don't think so?

I'd say that the probability of Kenny getting eaten by a T-Rex is about 95.4 percent.

  • He mentions her in ep 5 by the fence

  • I wonder if TellTale will give each ending variation a unique Episode 1. That way each player's choices from the end of S2 will have more impact. Hopefully it's not just some a small scene like in All that Remains...Or maybe they'll start with introducing the new character and hold off explaining the details of Clem's backstory and/or meeting with Javier until a later date? Please I hope not...

I understand they have a new story to tell and I'm interested to see how it ties into the different endings. I just hope they handle it in a way that doesn't piss off 99% of the fans. Not everyone will be happy with how they do it, though, since everyone's wants are different...but I have hope that they will do something different this time.

  • The fence where you try to get Kenny to join the fire. Everyone's favorite fence.

  • I really hope they don't just vanish because I'm still pissed over Christa's baby! Give me some kind of closure TellTale!!!!

  • Everyone, say it with me now:

Hail Kenny, full of boats, the 'stache is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst urbans and blessed is the fruit of thy loins, Duck. Holy Kenny, Father of Duck, pray for us shitbirds now and in the hour of our bite, amen.

  • Second thoughts already breh? XD

  • This should be the prologue to Season 3 before the time jump. XD

  • Kenny I hope returns, and for those who picked Jane, her. This should be taken as a big opportunity, to basically create these three paths. See where the ending of 2 gets you, going alone, with Kenny or Jane. See how the story unfolds with you choice.

Hilarious. I am sure you also seen the one where it's Clem, Kenny, Luke and Lee break dancing. xD

  • Did you draw that? very creative!

  • I'd love to see Telltale stop being lazy little shits and actually try mixing things up, putting an end to the determinant characters' curse. While I do genuinely believe they won't and will continue to just kill off determinants in badly written predictable scenarios ("Oh No, Walkers!"), there is a possibility with Kenny being such a dominant and popular character in the game, they might try and put in the effort, keeping him alive for at least a couple episodes. Though, that's probably just wishful thinking...

  • I agree. This Telltale going to go do that? I don't know, and quite frankly it's not up to me.

  • Kenny is the longest lasting TWD character(aside from Clem) and has so much character development that it would be such a bad idea to end his story in a cheap way.

If you are talking about series lifespan, then yes, he and Clementine are at the top. We've known both of them since the start of the outbreak and both have become iconic. Talking about actual lifespan, then every character alive will have lived just as much.
