I think Lilly is a good character - she kills a person out of spite or accidentally but I don't think that made her a bad character that isn't redeemable - since Lee killed a senator for sleeping with his wife and Kenny killed Larry out of the assumption that he would turn. What I liked about Lilly was her relationship with Larry - it felt strong and it also felt real and compelling, I could tell how much she cared for Larry - which is partly the reason my Lee tried to save him. I also liked her pragmatism and I think she would've been a great leader had she just taken other peoples' suggestions into account. In the end, I think she was a character for garnering complex sympathy from the user - she did something terrible but she was isolated from the group and the only person she loved and could trust was murdered beforehand and in the end her assumptions were correct(about Ben). I would really like to see Lilly again, if not in Season 3, then in a different game or comic.

I think she was a good character. I agreed with her when she said that Carley was the one giving supplies to the bandits. C'mon, the stupid woman that couldn't put batteries in a radio, who automatically threw herself to the convicted murderer, who tried yo make you confess, and who was a bitch with Lilly, who has just lost the only family she had? When she suggested Carley was with the bandits, it all made sense to me. I thought she would force me to confess I had killed someone to kick me out of the group, and, without me, make it easier to the bandits to take over the group. It made, sense, and I was ready to pull the trigger when the option was presented. But no. Because Carley is a fan favourite and Telltale didn't bother to ask Kirkman if he was thinking to write some books, about Woodbury before doing anything stupid.
Just imagine what was Lilly going through! Her abusive father (it was confirmed by TellTale) had just been brutally murdered by a man that didn't seem to have any respect towards her, everyone in the group thought she was a bitch, and she was starting to feel relieved now that her father was gone, which made her feel even worse, with the guilt, self-loathing and all, she was forced to smoother and hide all this suffering to lead the group, which is the way depression starts. She had no one to give her emotional support, and the people she had to protect didn't respect her at all, it was more like fear what they felt towards her.
Aaaaaaaand the bandits showed up to fuck things up.
So, yeah, Telltale did a good job with her. Specially with the SHOW-DON'T-TELL writing rule (don't tell me the moon is shining, show me the sweet, cold light reflected in broken glass). The only thing they could have done better with her was to antaginize her less. She was only good to you if you were nice to her (obviously), and most players would be nice to a character if they give them a good frist impression. Lilly's first impression isn't too good, really.
I also think she had a crush on Lee (if he was nice to her and didn't kill Larry, most women doesn't like assholes). I actually ship them

I really did like Lily. Right when I met her, I didn't get a very good first impression. But within a few moments, I completely understood where she was coming from. I enjoyed the dynamics of Lily and Larry's relationship, and it really is put in a new light when you find out it was confirmed to be abusive. (Is it really though? I'm not sure. I liked to think of Larry as non-abusive, because it was one of his good qualities.)
She was a very strong person, who took leadership of the group when no one else would. Sure, she maybe should have paid more care towards feedback, but she was the only one that truly stepped up. Although some of her actions made her come off as a little cold, she did everything in the group's best interest. I also appreciate how she was trying to maintain her morality.
She made one huge mistake, either accidentally or purposely, that causes many people to dislike her. That is a fair reaction, and killing someone is bigger than most mistakes. But our beloved Lee did the same. It was a result of all the pressure, loss, anger, and grief that consumed her. I understood why she did it, and I found it easy to sympathize with her. While she immediately showed remorse for killing Doug, I'm sure she'd soon regret what she did to Carley. And the fact that she even can say that she forgives Kenny or Lee just says so much about her character. (I saw a video of this once.)
Even if you don't like Lily, you can at least appreciate her for being complex and well written.
Lilly is a survivor. Knows the hardships of command and tries to make sure all in a group are cared for.
Focuses solely on the group, especially children. She is truly dedicated.
Why do I like her? I like strong women (who don't borderline on psychotic). But before you call me a hypocrite with that last one, may I remind the loss of her father, the only bloodline family she had. Lilly is capable of survival, she just lost her way. She's tough, but delicate like a flower.
May Nick Rapp start in the new season and give her character another chance. Lilly needs it.
I liked Lilly, despite mostly being on Kenny's side, personally. I didn't particularly agree with her direction for the group all the time, but I was still able to understand her point of view and reasoning, which I'll admit, sometimes lead me to question whether I should cut my loyalty with Ken and get on Lilly's side (Shocking, I know). Sure, her father was a real dick, but at the same time, he was the only family she'd had left and probably, the closest person in her life, so of course, she'd try to defend him even if he was mostly in the wrong and fairly flippin' hostile towards pretty much everyone. He was her dad and she loved him, so her becoming slightly unhinged after his death makes complete sense to me, and makes her a sympathetic and to an extent, tragic character because virtually no one cared what happened to Larry, nor the impact his death would have on her mental health.
As others pointed out, Lilly was a very isolated figure. No matter what she did for the group, such as having set up training for everyone, she was always disliked by majority of it's members, besides Larry and optionally Lee, and they always refused to give her any praise for a lot of the good she did do. They instead spent a lot of their time criticising and bitching behind her back, yet no one is willing to take on the stress and pressure of being the group's leader, excluding Kenny. Lilly does everything in her power to try and make the Motor Inn a stable environment for their survival and how does she get repaid? With constant bitching and moaning. Talk about pure ungratefulness on their part.
When she did what she did to Carley/Doug, she'd already lost everything and had been left in a troubled state after the Larry situation. I'm not justifying what she did and still believe there was a touch of spite when she killed Carley, considering she shot her with full intention unlike Doug, but you still have to try and understand what her character had gone through and the state she'd been left in. Larry was the only person she had left in the world, the only person giving her any form of support and the only person who genuinely loved and cared about her, so when he'd gone, especially in such a brutal fashion, which Lilly was forced to witness, she had nothing left, except her determination to keep the group stable. Suddenly, someone begins stealing from them, bandits attack and members are nearly killed, so the already irrational and paranoid Lilly tries to gain control of the situation, which she couldn't do with her father's death, and resolve the issue with what she thinks is the best way to handle it. Of course it isn't and things get out of control, she ends up killing someone either by complete mistake or with intention, but had Lilly's mental state not declined at the effect of Larry's death and the group's constant attempts to isolate her, none of that would've happened and it would never of crossed Lilly's mind to kill someone.
Anyway, I liked Lilly's character because, while she did do an awful and horrible thing, she still had a lot of good in her and much of her intentions were understandable and for the actual betterment of the entire group, even if I didn't always agree with her decisions. She was a sympathetic, complex and oddly relatable character for me, despite my bias towards Kenny, and I'd still hope we see her again at some point in the future of the series.
EDIT: Also could someone show proof that Larry abused Lilly? I mean, I've heard a good few people saying it's been confirmed by Telltale, but I've yet to see this myself.
She's awesome, I loved her struggles with Kenny, she speaks loud and clear and has a fucking point (usually). Lilly has some good potential I'm waiting for her on Season Three, I know that crazy bitch is alive somewhere, very good character. She gave me a hell of a punch by killing Carley, man, I'm still sore about that, but yeah, guess I love to hate her.
Even though I sided against pretty much 100% of the time, I liked her character as someone who would always step up to do what she thought was the right thing.
I would actually like to see how she's been all the time she's been away, and if she regrets killing Carley (I would say Doug too, but I thought it would be obvious she would regret killing him, since it's accidental.)
I wonder how she would take the news on Lee's death, Clem's past (S2 was pretty fucked up) and everything else.

I'd like to make a callback to a small exchange we had some months ago, when you pointed out that it's likely that Lilly truly believed that Ben was the traitor, but instead took the opportunity to forget what he did and condemn Carley for stealing her supplies, and thus, freeing herself from the burden that the reporter meant to her, for multiple reasons such as…
Being Lee's love interest when Lilly herself was striving to be that. @RavenSnowstorm can possibly bring up a few convincing points about this.
Glaring at Lilly amidst the argument that took place that same evening, instead of attempting to reach some form of consensus between Lilly and Kenny's ideas.
Accusing Lilly of never helping the group, when Lilly felt like she had been the one responsible for the group's success up until that point, such as when she took the matter of rationing their supplies on her own hands, and keeping the adults in check when it comes to firearms. By doing this, Carley demonized her in front of the rest of the group.
Advocating for Ben to stay, with Lilly knowing that he was the member who started taking her medicine to give it to the bandits.
Also could someone show proof that Larry abused Lilly? I mean, I've heard a good few people saying it's been confirmed by Telltale, but I've yet to see this myself.
Lilacsbloom posted it here, amidst the details thread. This was Nicky Rapp's audition script, if I'm not wrong, and it confirmed that Larry was abusive over Lilly from a young age, assuming that the voice actress is being truthful.
Not that she'd have a reason to lie. I just wanted to make the assumption clear.

Oh yeah, I remember that discussion and I still believe that Lilly's reasoning for the shooting of Carley was heavily motivated by more personal reasons (considering she shot her with intent), which you mentioned above, and that there could've been an unseen mutual dislike between the pair, but at the same time, I don't think Lilly would have brought herself to do what she did if Larry hadn't died. I believe after what had happened with her father, Lilly's dislike and possible bitterness/envy towards Carley could've intensified and with her declining mental state, saw an opportunity in the RV to accuse her and make an attempt at ridding herself of someone she clearly disliked. I'd also say if Kenny had been the Carley in the situation, Lilly would've acted the same and sought to accuse him, or anyone else she had a passionate hatred for in the group.
In a way, it could've been a way to distract herself from fully coping with the loss of her farther. Instead of dealing with Larry's death and grieving in a healthy way, Lilly could have chosen to focus her attention on finding ways to get rid of her enemies in order to feel better. But obliviously, this is all up for interpretation and could really be looked at many different ways, all of which are probably quite interesting to think about though.

Interesting. I still find it strange to think that Larry was abusive to Lilly. I mean, for an already pretty vile person, it makes him even more irredeemable and unlikeable, which I didn't think was possible for a guy like that. Though, I think I might have said this at some point before, it does possibly explain why he's always so quick to defend her. He could of been trying to make it up to her after years of being a shit dad, maybe trying to remind his daughter that he does care, even if it was just done out of pure guilt for what he may have done in the past.

Hey now! Some of us just recived 3 volumes of TWD comics from friends and are only on issue 2 Vol 1! SPOILER TAGS are useful when not broken. Can't Unknow the Judith thing! "So that just happened."
Since you didn't specify
Game Lily: Yeah I enjoyed her, had some interesting scenes, even though she killed Doug and Carley she was still… more an enjoyable character
Comic Lily: Killed Lori (don't care) Killed Judith (fuck you lily) Killed Governor (I love you lily)
Here's my question: Why would she shoot...."the other guy" Ya know Doug? To me she's just crazy at that point. To me any reasonable person would just let it go. The whole thing was pointless. Maybe I'm wrong but I think Lilly kills her/him just to keep Kenny from having any say in it. That or she heard Kenny got blood raged and missed. Sadly, that kind of thing is very common in these kind of stories.

Here's my question: Why would she shoot...."the other guy" Ya know Doug?
Well, in the instance where she shoots Doug, Lilly accidently killed him. She never had any intent to kill him, but was attempting to shoot Ben, who Doug tried to save when he spotted the gun. You can see the clip here

I too believe that she would not have gone to such extents if she hadn't been traumatized by the death of her father, as she doesn't appear to mind that Lee and Carley are close in "Starved For Help." Her paranoia only began once Larry was killed in the meat locker, and, for better or worse, we only get to encounter the group again a week after, missing out on a lot of her development. This ultimately has us speculating about what happened.
I'd also say if Kenny had been the Carley in the situation, Lilly would've acted the same and sought to accuse him, or anyone else she had a passionate hatred for in the group.
That's plausible. It wasn't so much about Carley or who she was as a person, but about that she was interfering with her own goals and motives and disregarding her actions. In that sense, Lilly managed to control her impulses toward Kenny, since he too was shown to behave in a similar manner, albeit without the romance with Lee.

Although this makes Larry's character more irredeemable, it adds a whole new layer of development to him, in my opinion.

True. I also think it's important to note that Lilly never really received an opportunity to get Kenny out of the group, unlike with Carley, who chose to defend Ben, the most likely suspect behind the bandit deal. I imagine the second Carley started defending Ben, Lilly saw the chance to attempt to convince her fellow members that Carley had played a role in the deal, gaining Lilly the moment to get her out of the picture, whilst masking it as an attempt to protect the group. But once Carley started insulting her, Lilly was unable to control her anger and impulses, so ended up shooting her.
Now whether or not, Lilly and Carley truly disliked each other as people is difficult for me to say. It could very well be just that Carley as you said was "interfering with her own goals and motives and disregarding her actions" when it came to Lilly, but the personal attack that Carley launched at Lilly has always suggested, to me at least, that there could've been some unseen rivalry between the two, and Carley's insult was the result of built up anger towards Lilly. I mean, her comments were fairly bitchy, especially for a character who up until that point, never showed such a side.
Although this makes Larry's character more irredeemable, it adds a whole new layer of development to him, in my opinion.
Oh, I can agree. It's certainty an intriguing aspect to his character and it makes you question much of his intentions for being the dedicated dad he appears to be in the series.

Lilly haters are like: "She's not worthy my time, screw this thread"
And just to see where she is now.
Lily for S3.
I enjoy discussing this topic with you, OneWayNoWay!
Same goes for Kenny haters also you can't denied that. It is matter of choice. There is nothing we could do about that
Oh, I can agree. It's certainty an intriguing aspect to his character and it makes you question much of his intentions for being the dedicated dad he appears to be in the series.
me too for killing innocent Doug & Carley. And leaving Lee and Clem behind
Yeah I've been told that she does that if we don't leave her behind (which I did).
Ya right. I know
