I think there may be a season 2 but we migh have a wait like the wait for the walking dead season 3 maybe with season 2 about new characters or maybe characters from the minecraft movie coming in 2019.
I think you should know why people hate Minecraft. @MetallicaRules mentioned his opinion politely and someone criticize him like any fanboys from Minecraft fanbase.

You could basically consider the story in Episodes 5-8 to be Season 2. Because of that, I would not exactly be as excited for a Season 2 in … moremy own personal opinion, but I would be curious as to how they would do it.
For what it's worth, if you guys are sad about Minecraft ending after Episode 8, most series only get five episodes a Season. Even for Series that get more than one Season, people have never gotten so many bonus episodes so quickly. Minecraft got special treatment from Telltale, so you guys can hopefully appreciate that.
I do really REALLY want more episodes of MCSM (especially since I'm too young for telltales other games), but I entirely understand if they delay/don't make season two. Eh, I don't know. Anything, really. It's too early to be discussing Season 2, and Season 2 won't come out soon after Episode 8... There's still things needed to be tied up at the moment in the story, and nothing has teased S2 yet.
Give it a break, it might come back, but at least a year after S1 is done. Telltale still needs to work on their Batman, Walking Dead, Marvel, Super Show, and Game of Thrones stuff. Wolf fans have been waiting for years for their wish, so it's hard to tell if or when Minecraft gets its own.
For people still denying that a Season 2 will never happen. Just accept there will most definitely be a Season 2 just not for a year or two. The series has been very popular (I mean VERY popular) so, its going to happen eventually. If it doesn't get announced this year I'll be very shocked.
I'd honestly prefer they didn't do a season 2 for some time, and instead either revisted other franchises or started something new. The minecraft game isn't one of my favourites, which comes down more to my tastes than anything, although I've been playing through it after initially getting it for my nephew. I'm glad they extended the season, only because I think they introduced a lot of interesting and fun concepts they couldn't in the story arch of the first 5 (or was is 4?) episodes. The self contained latter episodes have been pretty great for the most part, and I'd be okay if they end up doing something similar in extending seasons with IPs I'm a bit more invested in.

Like I said earlier I can see a season 2 happening (not for awhile though) as this game is very popular towards young audiences and grown ups too. But I think telltale still has a lot on there plate and I am personally expecting a wolf amoung us season 2 as the last episode of that was kind of a cliffhanger. So I would give it time and (if you can) in the meantime enjoy telltales other games.
If that were to happen I would say HEROBRINE COMES OUT OF A GENIE POT and they have to make a command block just like episode 2 if you went to Ellegard's home

Well, actually, we are - Season 1 is Episodes 1-5. Episodes 6-8 are extra episodes, but I do get your point though.
Look at season 2 of The Walking Dead. It was obvious that there was going to be another season. The only way The Walking Dead could 100% end is if Clementine died, or some other crazy ending. But as far as we're concerned, Clem's 'Still. Not. Bitten.'
If episode 8 ends in a cliffhanger, there's probably going to be another season. If it ends in a happy, peaceful, and fairy-tale like ending; that's a sign that Minecraft Story Mode might be ending at Season 1.5 (I'm considering the last three episodes to not be season 2, but more like an added on bonus).
