Unused plots/subplots in Season 2

Did Telltale or any of the VAs ever release a statement saying what the intended plot for Season 2 originally was? There are plenty of unsubstantiated theories floating around. What do we know for sure other than Kenny was supposed to be the main antagonist and Troy was going to be a less subtle scumbag? Links to unused audio clips, character models, audition leaflets, etc would be appreciated.

I know there's a bunch of unused audio on YouTube for each episode.
The only things I can remember that would have changed the plot is that Luke was going to live and they scraped the idea of the 400 days characters having a big role in s2.
Also Clementine was supposed to lose her hat (I assume when she fell in the river) and then Sam (the dog) has the hat. Carver was supposed to be skinny with a 'stache (almost like Kenny's ugly brother.) I'm sure there is more I cant recall at the moment. Those are smaller things though.
There is a boatload of unused audio files. Not much in the audio that would point to a major change in the plot, but I could dig them up if you want and post them.
If I'm correct, there was this hacking incident and that led to a lot of changes in the storylines? It was right around the episode Arvo was introduced or am I wrong?
If I'm right, you're talking about the files for episode 5 leaked. They leaked a couple days before the Ep5 trailer came out so TTG didn't change the story.
The whole her losing her hat and finding it with Sam should have happened
There was the account of Mike's voice actor saying in an interview that Mike was originally supposed to be Ralph, one of the guys that cornered Christa by the river, which is why their models look so similar. Somewhere down the line, telltale decided to scrap the idea, slightly modify Ralph's model, and make him a new character.
Personally I wish they kept Mike as Ralph. It would have helped that theme of gaining trust, make his betrayal more poignant, and possibly give us a clue to Christa's whereabouts.
Kenny's voice actor confirmed that Luke was always planned to die. People speculated that Luke was going to live because their was an audio file of Luke shivering, as if he had just been pulled out of the lake. However Gavin said everyone had to record those types of shivering lines, and that Luke wad destined to die as early as the episode 3 script, if I recall correctly.
The unused audio of Jane telling Clementine the sheep joke will always be my favorite.
Yeah, I think that's what it was. I don't think they changed anything, because like you said nothing was changed from the trailer, but there used to be a lot of theories.
I agree, I never really understood why the writers didn't take this direction.
The only thing I can think of was that the writers really wanted Clementine to cut off all ties from Christa permanently, and have her interact with a fresh new bunch of characters and start afresh. Ralph reappearing in Episode 3 would mean that the players would have an opportunity to have him explain what has happened with Christa, but since the writers wanted to keep her disappearance a mystery forever, they recreated him as a new character instead.
As opposed to simply having him rerecord the line to make it sound more vague/hopeless....
They said Kenny was suposed to have Carver's role, but instead we got Adventures Babysitting Kenny. Puaj.
Also, there was going to be a option of leaving AJ behind at the end of E5.
Ugh... I can't think of anything else right now...
Stiiiill bitter they didn't go ahead with that. It would've been awesome.
Also, tooooown, where'd you go buddy? Not to mention the church Deltino found and a butt ton of other stuff we can only speculate.
What Episode 5 leak? I thought a bunch of those were just fakes. Like how they had some silly stuff about 'who will stay in the truck overnight to keep warm?' And whoever risked it outdoors died and became a walker, or something...meh, more plausible than the lake I guess, but come on! They'd just have to light a fire, or man up and deal with getting sandwiched in that truck. Better than freezing to death.
I know there were a lot of others out there, but it's so long ago now I can't remember. I just remember that one because it said about either Luke or Kenny dying and it ticked me off at the time from that outcome and I thought it and them dying in general sucked.
Also on the topic of Luke's shivering line, it is actually used in the episode when the walker grabs his leg and pulls him down.
And yeah, they record a lot of miscellaneous lines for the characters. If I'm right, almost every actor records the same basic sounds: breathing, grunts, groans, screams, crying, pain sounds, etc. Some of the sound files you can find are 10+ second recordings of the actors making random pain sounds or whatever. They just build up a library of those sound effects for quick and easy use, although most of the time they end up getting replaced in later recording sessions.
Or maybe they felt the Ralph subplot was too similar to what they were already planning to do with Bonnie; character is part of a group of bad guys, eventually defects over to the player's group, tries to earn player's trust, etc etc.
The two of them would have been going through the same character arc pretty much. But honestly, that probably would have been for the best. At least then he'd actually have some depth as a character instead of just sort of being there. It feels like when they removed that plot point they forgot to replace it with something, so Mike ended up getting jack for story or character development.
Yes there were a lot of fake spoilers but there were some that were very real. Back before episode 5 came out - or it was episode 4 I cant remember - a couple of people were looking around the episode "4" files and found a list of spoilers for episode 5 "by accident." (???) I don't know how someone can accidentally stumble on spoilers. That's something you dig for. Anyways, they got banned for it.
It was a list of files that contained the end choice statistics. "You And __% of players did this and that... blah blah." It contained major spoilers for who died and main things that happened in the episode. At first many believed they were faked, as did I. Even I'm able to retrieve those files for an already released episode then change the words around to make them look like spoilers.
But a little while after that someone somehow gained access to the episode waaay before the release date. It wasn't anyone on the forums just a random person online. As expected, they leaked a bunch of screenshots and even gameplay so trolls took advantage of that. They spread the screenshots all over the forums and I even received some unexpected PM's containing these screenshots. Needless to say I was disappointing and the episode was ruined for me.
All That Remains was supposed to have Alvin with at least Clem doing a fishing scene. Some of those props are still in the files.
There was going to be a tiger, that's all I remember about that one.
No Going Back and In Harm's Way's original title screens show that Rebecca would've given birth in a bathroom and Clementine was supposed to reach a city.
It took so long posting this that I won't be surprised if one or more of these was posted already.
I recall hearing that too. I wish they kept it; it would've made an already great episode even greater by giving him some proper bonding time.
Apparently, the reason they didn't go with that was because there was apparently one introduced in the comics at the time. Well, that and why would the group come across a tiger, of all things?
...Irony?
I think early in development, Rebecca was supposed to give birth by In Harm's Way. The original slide showed her and Clem in a bathroom, the background is then changed to the pen where Carver kept them. I think they planned Rebecca giving birth, or atleast having some complications by the third episode. There's also a file called "Rebecca_Bloody_Towel" in the game files, so I imagine the birth scene was originally more graphic. Once the episode was released they could've atleast updated the slide to make it more accurate, Rebecca and Clementine barely even interact in the episode.
The was originally going to be a zoo in season 2 so probably they'd meet it there.
I think a lot of ideas were probably thrown around, some making it a little further than others before eventually getting scrapped. Mike being one of the guys that attacked Christa sounds kinda lame in my opinion and i'm glad they didn't go through with it. Clementine would never willingly be part of the same crew as someone who caused Christa to be seperated from her.
I personally think its because a lot of people reacted so badly to the cabin group, even by the end of the season a lot of people still hated them for locking clementine in the shed, I guess they just wanted a couple of characters people could just like.
Im not sure how much were changes and how much they just didnt plan for. I really think they had too many characters, it resulted in very few getting much development, the shorter episodes didnt help either
They were big changes. Very big.
Sarah learning to shoot was an unused plot.
I'm curious how many people would leave him behind.
"Do you get it?"

"No."

Also, isn't the lake a river, @Deltino? I know I've asked this three freaking times, but it seems to fit the topic.
"No Going Back" used to be "Better To Sleep."
Dude, Minecraft + ice lake reference = confirmed.
Please, Lilac!
Let me believe that our cast isn't that stupid.
This was how the original slide for No Going Back looked while in development. The episode was called "Better To Sleep", and you see what appears to be Clementine walking towards that mysterious city in the background. It also looks like she's holding something (probably A.J). I firmly believe that the city was going to be Wellington, and would play a part in S2. I know there's also pictures of the other slides as well, I can't find them though.
The other four.
Thank you!
Why d'you do this to me.
You could've given me credit for pointing that out in the comment right above.
Something along the lines of…
…or something.
It's no big deal, I just wanted to make that joke.
Lol sorry XD
Also, seem like E2's original name was going to be Don't Look Back, and E3 In Cold Blood. These are better names than the ones se got!
Edit:
Also, judjing by the image of Lee at the right of the E1 slide, at the beginig there was going to be a flashback. It says 'Goo... ' I'm asuming that is suposed to be Goodbye. So sad.
Aaaaaalso in the slide of E3 you can see a shadow over Clem and Rebecca, and it looks like it has crossbow in its hand, that is probably Troy.
In the slide of E1 Clem seems a lot more pissed and is holding her shoulder, maybe she got shot then?
I don't see shit in the E2 slide.
Uh what?? Episode 2's name was Don't Look Back then changed to A House Divided? Not even I knew this.
Edit: Also, in the first slid you can see her holding her bicep instead of her forearm. Maybe she was supposed to get injured in another way instead of the dog bite.
Edit 2: There's also a shadow over Clem and Rebecca in the third slide. Probably Carver.
