Question for those that play the game but don't watch the show or read the comic

This is a question for those that play the game but have little to know interest in the show or comic (and based on the posts I have seen there are quite a few posters on here who don't watch the show or comic). How did you develop such an interest in the game but at the same time don't really care about the other areas of the TWD universe? I assume many of you may just be big video game buffs and you like all kinds of video games.

For me the game and the comic go hand in hand. I am a big fan of the TWD universe and want to read about most all areas of the universe (even have read those last couple treacherous books). My interest in video games is really waning though and the only reason I even touch this game is because it has the TWD name on it. I admit it is a very good story but I likely would have no interest in it if it didn't take place in the Walking Dead universe and I knew that Clementine exists in the same universe that Rick, Carl, Andrea, and Michonne do.

  • I play the game, read the comics and watch the show. Though lately I haven't had much time so I'm behind with the comics. It's safe to assume that not having enough time is why most people don't keep up with all three. Also, the game is so well written compared to the show. The comics are great too but I still prefer the game over the other two.

  • The game is one of those things you see being advertised by let's play channels, gaming magazines, and back when it was on the air, G4. I also saw some of the characters through other means, like "fanart".

As for the TV show, its one of those things you see advertised and know exists, but you never get curious enough to watch because 1. never thought about it much or had the time, 2. if I was interested, I would want to watch it in order, which is kinda unlikely given that I heard its on like Season 7, and 3. it's a live action show about a zombie apocalypse.

I used to love the show. I don't like watching scary movies or seeing real people dying anymore, so I quit watching that stuff. I have grown to love good storytelling games and Walking Dead is no exception. I got into it due to my friends begging me to get into it

  • Ahh that I can understand if you aren't that big on horror to begin with. Though the game has people getting eaten and killed and all that jazz as well it looks fake enough to where it would be hard to churn someone's stomach.

  • A friend had recommended the game and shortly afterwards, hearing it was a choice based game, I was automatically curious. I looked it up and found that it was connected with the comic's universe, but wasn't a continuation of them, so I didn't have to worry about not knowing much about the characters and what not, so I bought it and was instantly hooked.

I'm not really much of a comic fan, so I never cared about reading them and with the TV show, I've heard mixed things about it, so again, didn't see much point in viewing it. Not saying I never would, but currently, neither have brought about much interest for me.
