  • Eventually. Some people already like him and or find him attractive, even Negan fangirls are starting to take shape apparently. For most however we will need a few episodes of him being normal Negan instead of Negan breaker of men.

Negan is going to be one of the fans favorite character hopefully more than Daryl!!! I like Negan more Daryl!! Lol

  • Was hard to watch but it was an all round amazing episode. Carl's "Just do it, dad" was beast.

I WANT MY COMIC CARL, YES!

JDM was great as Negan, good choice.

  • Daryl has an amazing singing voice haha!

Contains Spoilers!!! The episode was great even though the characters chosen were to predictable. I mean they always gotta make Daryl loo

  • I think ever since the eye Carl has grown closer to comic Carl. Hopefully Chandler Riggs takes full advantage of the development and embraces this.

  • I praying we get the Carl and Negan dynamic. The scenes with those two in Sanctuary was great. And I really hope they dont do this with Daryl instead.

becuase he becomes such an important point in the saviours v survivors storyline

  • Now that I'm a bit more calm, I'd like to share some further thoughts on the episode real fast.

I really personally don't like JDM as Negan anymore. The comics made him seem cheerful and ridiculous and hilarious and over the top, but he never went too far. Yeah he killed Glenn and cracked jokes about it, but in the comics that was pretty tame, some villain killed a main character and made a dumb joke. This had him kill 2 people (just for shock and in a poorly written way, mind you), Throw Rick out into a herd of walkers, Tell Rick he was forced to cut his son's own arm off or everyone would die, and he stole Daryl without any real reason other than "I like him". I don't know if the writers are to blame or JDM is, but this is not Negan. This isn't the lovable psychopath from the comics with a fun personality, this is a monster. And while the point of him is to make me feel uncomfortable, he isn't the Negan I know. I'm sorry, and JDM is a fucking amazing actor, but fuck this Negan. They should have saved him losing his cool for later in the season.

Andrew Lincoln's performance in this episode was fucking award worthy. People who hate TWD can say whatever the fuck they want about the show, but that was some of the most amazing acting I've ever seen, and it made me feel like Jeffery Dean Morgan was actually forcing Andrew Lincoln to cut off his own son's arm. It was astounding how amazing it was and how he never once broke character until the plot asked him to (unlike every single character in this episode), and honestly if he doesn't win some kind of award for this episode I'll be fucking pissed.

The kills themselves were handled well. The brutality was just perfect for what we'd expect for the series and Glenn and Abe certainly didn't go out like bitches. Glenn especially, considering he was weaker than Abraham I think Glenn stood his ground a fair bit, what with the eyeball popping out of his head. Both of the deaths were handled insanely well and I love how Glenn's was a shot for shot remake of the comics. I don't like that Glenn had to die and I don't like that it happened for shock value, and I especially don't like how the worst character in the show caused it by somehow being less cool than the kid who was about to lose his fucking arm, but whatever. Deaths were well done and I liked that. I just didn't like how over the top cruel the episode was compared to the comic, it was kind of stupid and pointless.

I have some issues with how some of the characters acted as well and how out of character they were, but it's 3 in the morning and I have work to do, so I'd rather not type out a few more paragraphs. Either way this isn't the worst episode I have seen, but it's definitely a bad one for me.

  • I think it's more likely that Daryl will takeover Dwight's role from the comics and that they'll do the Carl and Negan relationship.

  • I hope not because Rick has to show that he is accepting a lot of new people into his group. Also Dwight is Rick's inside man of Negan's group.

    CONTAINS SPOILERS!!

I agree with Andrew Lincoln's acting being award worthy! I hope he wins an oscar or something for best TV Actor!

Negan was great if you look at when he is killing Glenn he tells the group he is truly sorry and you can hear it in his voice! As the season goes on you may actually start to like Negan.

  • I liked Negan at first, but he just got a lot less likable since the previous season finale. The writers were trying so hard to make him scary that they forgot who Negan is as a character. He's threatening, but never genuinely terrifying and uncomfortable to see.

  • I'm gonna miss Glenn. He has been my favorite character since the show began. Also, I am Asian too, so I feel like I have lost some related feel to the show.

  • I agree but in the comics Negan didn't try to break Rick by having Glenn killed he only showed that Rick can't do whatever he wants and not face the consequences. The only reason Negan tried to break Rick was because of Daryl the Safest Character on the show punched Negan. Seriously I am getting so sick of Daryl. He gets away with everything because of "fans" liking Daryl. I like Dwight more than Daryl! After what he did in front of Negan, Daryl has to be punished by Maggie or Rick.

  • Wow, post-prison life hasn't been kind to Maggie or Sasha. Maggie's lost her dad, sister and husband. Sasha's lost her brother and two boyfriends.

  • I feel like Daryl was spared less for his 'fans' and more for Dwights development. Which was also the reason he needed to be captured. So, unlike other times, I honestly like the choice to have Daryl intervene, because this time it gives him actual plot.

  • No, I think its likelier that Daryl will convince Rick later that Dwight can be trusted with their plan to dethrone Negan. Why else would they add such a connection between the characters.

I think that's because he wanted to make Rick afraid. He was trying his best to frighten Rick into submission and so needed to seem even crueler. Remember he didn't actually want Rick to hurt Carl. He should be back to being himself in his next appearance.

  • Damn the stupid leaks. I'm happy Ronnie has gotten moderators in charge of preventing the spread of them starting today.

  • Haha everybody kissy a Glenn XD that last one.

I feel like this episode was both the Ozimandias and Red Wedding of the Walking Dead. An episode full of the violent deaths of main characters and the losing of everything including will and power by the main characters. The major difference is that it was 65 minutes and featured even greater gore.

    6/10

I actually didn't feel a thing when Abraham (my second favorite character...) and glen died. The cliffhanger just didn't fucking work. I was actually laughing throughout the whole episode, even when glen was getting the shit beat out of him. Glen and Abraham dying was so predictable. I also wanted rick to chop carl's hand off and negan to kill daryl. I don't hate either of them but I just knew that AMC didn't have the balls to do it.

This gets a 6 only because of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's performance. Even without the F bombs, he is still funny, terrifying and fucked up!

  • Andrew Lincoln needs to be nominated for an Emmy.

  • Also Maggie was originally going to die instead of Abe and Glenn.

They BEAT two main characters to death and they don't have balls ? Its actually incredible how bad that argument is now. So weak and shallow. You do know dozens of people have left the show because of how violent the scene was? That the scene is so gory that critics are wondering if Amc should be allowed to show this on public tv. I would dare say that is one of the ballsies-est moves ever made by a network in years.

Why can we never agree? Once again my opinion is immensely different. Might actually be my favorite episode in the show, definately top 3.

  • Glenn's death will go down as one of the most shocking moments in TV history. I mean, for those that hadn't spoiled themselves by trawling the actors whereabouts to know who'd bit it that is. Imagine if you went in totally blind like I did, Okay so Abraham dies, that's tough to take but you would have felt like it was over, then not 10 minutes later out of fcking nowhere a character you have watched for 6 seasons just gets absolutely annihilated in one of the most brutal character deaths of any show ever. His eye popping and his skull caved, still trying to assure his wife it was going to be okay? Damn, that really did make me sick to my stomach, even if I felt they crossed the line a little, it was great TV. By that point nobody is safe, and you really think Negan is going to make Rick chop Carl's arm off because your nerves are so shredded already by Negan keeping his word. That shit was intense as hell, bravo writers. All you complained about the cliffhanger saying they could never live up to what they set up, well guess what? They did. They went so balls to the wall with that that some of you are still moaning because you don't know how to react, haa.

  • Nope. They all got whacked, which was showed in the episode itself when Rick was having nightmarish thoughts. This was just Maggie's pretend whacking. It was probably also just a device to throw off people trying to find out.

Also Maggie was originally going to die instead of Abe and Glenn.

    Incredible bad, huh? let's see!
First of all, AMC doesn't even have the balls to throw F bombs. This is ballsie? You clearly haven't watched Game Of Thrones, have you now? They don't have the balls to kill daryl, a mr.pefect boring character that does nothing other than riding his bike and having the same expression all the time, that's what I said. He was great in the first 3 seasons but now he's one of the most boring characters on the show, you don't know how happy I'm going to be if he dies. Abraham was a B character (he was my 2nd fav character nonetheless...) and people were just sad that they lost the one liners. Glenn was an A character but after the fake out death of the last season nobody really cared about him dying, they had already gone through it once. People who thought that this was gory should grow a pair. This was a child's play when compared to how gory this comic book issue is. I'm not even acting tough, I cant even stand looking at blood in real life, this scene was no way near as gory as people make it out to be.

  • you have to admit in a sense it stopped the main narrative to focus on Carol and Maggie's development.

True. It technically was a bit of a filler episode, but I usually don't mind those as much as long as they're at least interesting. Hence why The Same Boat is one of my favorite episodes of Season 6.

On a side note I am happy that we can both accept the fact that we have different opinions about the show without fighting about it like fans tend to do.

Me too. That's so rare on the internet.

  • First off I have no problem with people hating on Amc, hell I told them to go 'F' themselves so many times, but they are ballsy

Just because you didn't suffer the deaths. I have seen people crying over it both online and in real life and this has been declared by many, many people as the goriest scene ever on normal cable television. I called your argument incredibly bad just based on my own thoughts at the moment, but now that I honestly take a look at everything people have said on all the fansites, review, social media, youtube comments, reaction videos and even opinions people have tried to forcibly insert into the wiki's I can tell you with no doubt that argument is untrue.

Also I love the comics with all my heart I feel more tense after watching the episode. At least with issue 101 I could mourn and cry.

Also I think this might be the only time that they were justified in letting Daryl live. They need him for Dwights development. So he should actually get story now.

Well I would be careful saying this though. Look at the comments and you can see several people here are still salty about the cliffhanger and I don't think they'll take kindly to that.

  • Honestly the deaths were disappointing. It was the most predictable, so that was disappointing in it of itself, and axing off 2 just seemed like an excuse to make it more dramatic and still find a way to get rid of Glen so they didn't have to figure out what to do with him without the comic to work off of.

What they should've done, and hear me out here, is had Negan choose Maggie. I know what you're thinking; What?!!?!? Exactly! You don't expect it! This opens up a ton of possible characters arcs for Glen afterwards, and because she's not noticeably pregnant Negan wouldn't know. It can later be revealed and give Negan some humanizing inner turmoil as the full impact of his actions hit him.
Now as to who fills in leading Hilltop... I don't know, take your pick. Carol maybe since they refuse to axe her off?

Just a thought, what are yours?

  • Well personally I don't think its fair to judge the deaths on unpredictability. Why can't they just be done because its good for the story?

Would you rather have something unpredictable or something good? And before you answer both I only gave you 2 options.
