Well he disliked what Bruce's father did to his family, and that Bruce still profits off his family's misfortune even though Bruce himself had nothing to do with it it.

  • Revenge beyond reason, I guess. He has probably seen the video of Thomas driving his mother insane after he met Bruce in the park, which might have destroyed whatever affection he has to Bruce. Which is probably the reason why he is he so soured in Episode 3.

  • Because Oswald has no qualms about hurting innocent people if it serves his agenda, and he's all about eye-for-an-eye retribution. He and his family were innocent people hurt by the Waynes, so to his mind Bruce Wayne paying for his father's crimes, even though Bruce is innocent himself, is both fitting and just.

He's got a perverted sense of right and wrong, basically.

  • Honestly there might be more to this. The children have killed people, but not Bruce. Instead they gave him a non fatal dose so he would just be committed instead of killing him. Maybe it was Oz's idea and he doesn't actually want Bruce to be killed.

  • Actually it makes sense if you have chosen all rude choice :D

But if you have been nice to him and made good choices it doesnt make sense :(

  • It's not just revenge. He's envious of Bruce and wants his success. He's also killed his fair share of innocent people. He's not supposed to be a good person who was wronged and is now evil.

  • Unfortunately, Oz is mad at Bruce for things beyond Bruce's control.

It is not a matter of being nice to him.

If he doesn't want Bruce dead, it likely isn't tied to any sentimentality. It's probably just because he wants to see Bruce suffer.

Bruce has now been sacked at Wayne Enterprises, is seen as pariah and has been ostracized by much of Gotham, and is now headed towards committal to a mental institution. It is pretty much the same fate as the Cobblepot's, who lost their wealth to the Waynes and ended up committed to Arkham.

It's all eye-for-an-eye with the Penguin.

  • I just chalk it up to Oswald being unable to distinguish Bruce from his father and having a grudge against the Wayne family, period. On top of that, he's already been heading down a dark road for a long time.

  • Yes but he's only locked up, they could have given him a fatal dose so he could never be the same again. What in saying is Penguin had Falcone and Hill killed, he easily could have killed Bruce as well but he didn't. I guess I'm kinda saying it would be an interesting story point if Oz wanted to get rid of the Wayne's but didn't kill Bruce because he's an old friend who never actually did anything wrong.

I mean my best guess of how Bruce gets out of Arkam is Selina saves him, but it would be extremely interesting if Penguin actually lets him out and tells him to just leave Gotham and disappear.

  • He wants revenge for what the Waynes did to his family. And since Bruce is a Wayne, he feels that Bruce should suffer for what his family did, even though he had nothing to do with it

  • I think they are planning something with Oz like how they did with Vicky

  • I feel that in Oz's eyes, Bruce is guilty by association. Bruce himself may not have done anything to target Oz's family, but Bruce's father did and Oz holds this against him. What helped give Bruce "the good life" destroyed Oz and his family.

  • Apologies if this sounds rude, but did you pay attention to both the first and second episode?

Because of Thomas Wayne, Ozzie's mother had been deemed insane and was placed in Arkham and because of that, all the money Oz had was gone. And Wayne Enterprises was built on land that belonged to the Cobblepots.

The only way to make the Wayne family pay is by destroying the legacy.

  • I was surprised when he dropped Bruce's pocket watch on the floor. He doesn't know that Bruce knows that he's the Penguin or that he was the masked man at the debate. I thought he would have continued being nice to Bruce's face all the while cursing it behind his back. Exact reason i gave him the fake friend hug. To keep up apperances.

  • I think that this story part is inspired by the Hush storyline in comic books, albeit, that was little different.
Both protagonists hated Bruce's parents, but they are now dead, so the next logical step in revenge would be to take it on Bruce.

The difference is that Thomas Elliot, being Bruce's best childhood friend, hated his parents and wanted to kill them since his young age.
It almost happened, but Thomas Wayne saved his mother. He hated Wayne family for it and returned to take revenge on Bruce.

Penguin tough is more in the gray area, as he hates them for all the vile they did to his family. If that about Thomas Wayne is really true.

  • He is a bastard, that's why and that's why I punched his punkass when he dropped that work of art from Alfred in front of me.

  • I did that too.
