What's one plotline you'd love to have in season 3?

I'll elaborate. Think of a situation that could be possible in season 3 that you would love to play through. Impossibilities are off the table, so nothing like Lee is somehow back. However things that are unlikely but possible are fine, like detrimental characters surviving the season. Even if it's just a small scenario, that'll be good too!

A plotline I would love to have is where I'm following a questionable leader. A leader that isn't so black & white with their decisions. Someone that you can't say is either good or bad, ever. By following or going against this leader, it causes you to question your own morale. I don't want the typical "save your friend, or save the town" choice. I want choices that are quite difficult to make, and have consequences that are both good and bad. The most recent decision I could think of is the decision to steal from Arvo; medicine is great, but you are taking away from someone else who needs them. But with that said, I don't want it to be as clear as that. Obviously the right thing to do would be to NOT steal from someone, right? So people who want to keep playing on the good and straight line of morality, they won't steal. I want decisions that blur those lines to much that we find ourselves in so many different directions. Where we're just making decisions in order to survive, help, etc. We don't know whether we're good or bad, we just see a goal and go for it. So again, I want a leader that represents that - as difficult as that may seem. I'm just tired of seeing people so crystal clear as the good guy (Omid/Luke), hero (Lee/Clementine), bad guy (St. Johns/Troy), or villain (The Stranger, Carver). I know usually in stories you want to make it clear who the audience should root for and against, but I think we've ascended to a point of storytelling where we go against that ideal; that's why it's normal for people to like a villain more than the hero sometimes.

I'd love to see Clementine and Javier lost in political mess. I explain: Telltale said us that the new season is about big factions which try to cohabit. So basically, the game is as the same point as the comics.
I'd like to have the possibility to choose the faction I want, in season 3, and not being forced to rejoin/help the "good guys faction". I'd love to see intrigues and manipulations, wars and assassinations. So, basically, I want to have more choices and more moral orientation than simply " good" and "bad".

  • An argument/debate if the whole zombie thing is caused by either the apocalypse, a virus, or aliens amongst our cast of characters. Nobody ever questions why this whole thing happened. I know it won't do any good and they can only theorize, but it would be an interesting conversation to have.

I think Clementine and Javier will not be enemies ... They have one goal, they will learn from each other. If Javier will be an enemy of Clementine, people may not like him at all, I do not think that's what Telltale wanted.

Outstanding topic for a thread, Bundy!

I want decisions that blur those lines. (…)

I will suggest a simple scenario that I believe accomplishes this.

Away from the junk yard that he calls home, Javier is scavenging abandoned buildings to find anything of use; sister mentioned that she could use a notepad and color pencils, and mom asked for boxes of cigarettes if he could get his hands on them.

The branches of the thicket scrape his face as he kneels.

She must be in her thirties, the woman with the revolver; her greaseless blonde hair and clothes that are not ragged indicate that she lives in a community. The tip of the gun must feel cold pressed on the forehead of that man, just as his own had felt months ago. The woman demands answers of where the bag that her group was stolen is, but the man avoids confirming anything to her by saying that she's got the wrong guy. Just then a hidden muddy backpack appears into sight, with a cow brander poking out.

She threatens to pull the trigger. Javier loads his own pistol after pulling it out of his messenger bag. The man slides his fingers under the waistband on his side while pleading for mercy.

[TAKE BACKPACK] [SHOOT WOMAN] [WARN WOMAN] []

The blonde woman is a member of the yet unknown Capricorn Farm, and the man is a survivor who apparently sneaked into their community and got out with supplies. None of them is innocent nor guilty as far as we know.

Taking the backpack would result in Javier being involved in the conflict by stealing Capricorn Farm's supplies; the woman kills the man after he attempts to stab her, and retreats to her community for back-up after spotting a Hispanic man in blue shirt.

Shooting the woman would result in Javier being involved in the conflict by killing a member of Capricorn Farm by fatally striking her in the neck; Javier speaks with the man and the latter agrees to share some of the supplies with him. Javier decides not to let the stranger know about the junk yard to ensure the safety of his family.

Warning the woman that the man is planning to attack her would result in Javier being involved in the conflict by helping a member of Capricorn Farm, as she will kill the man on the spot; Javier would then have the choice to tell her where the backpack is or keep quiet, but either way she will be grateful. She will reappear later in the episode and prevent Javier from being branded on the neck.

Letting the timer run would result in Javier remaining uninvolved in the conflict; the woman kills the man after he attempts to stab her, and Javier goes back to the junk yard while she probably goes to her community.

    Edit explanation
Added the option to warn woman.

I would like it if A New Frontier borrowed a bit of that aspect from Game Of Thrones, too! The prospect of being part of the network of communities that there is in the comic series and witnessing the struggle to keep peace among them is exciting.

It was mentioned in the comics that there are other communities in the network than just Alexandria, Hilltop, Sanctuary, Kingdom and Oceanside. Capricorn Farm and the rest that are featured in the third season would mainly have to be "others" so as to not go overboard with crossovers.

  • I don't know about Season 3, but I would love to see some people trying to cure the walker disease or find out what it is, but the twist being that mentally over the years they've lost it under stress from what they've done and their unwillingness to quit, so they've degraded to a point where they're not against using any methods to find a cure. So for example, using live subjects, operating on the brain, intentionally having people bitten or stopping their hearts and resuscitating them over and over again solely for study. Basically every inhuman thing you can think of to figure out what in death makes a person turn, and to stop it.

So they think they're doing good, but they're just a bunch of dicks =_=

  • That's an interesting direction, although I would prefer other focuses.

  • A shot of epinephrine might do it along with CPR and a defibrillator to restart the heart. As for stopping the heart, it's mostly of case of suffocating a person either by hand, via a drug or in a controlled environment where the oxygen is removed, or simply drowning them.

I erm, read this story once where this woman was tortured for information, and that's what they did to her to try and get her to talk. That's why it came to mind.

  • That was just awesome, thank you so much. I love that you also included letting the timer run out, I completely forgot about that being another possibility! But yeah, what you wrote shows depth that this season really needs. I want season 3 to demolish season 1 & 2; I know that's probably too many high hopes, but it's possible. TellTale has proven that they can come up with deep scenarios that people will talk about for years to come, all they need to do is stretch that magic.

  • Maybe a reformed but rejected type subplot if Lilly does shows up.

  • Thanks!
I just wrote that because I loved this point (struggle between communities) in the comics. So, as the Season 3 is at the same time and in the same zone as the comics, I think that Telltale has no excuses to not do what I hope...

  • I remember a while back there was a thread about Clementine getting a love interest and a lot of people I think were against it. But I would actually be really interested to see a relationship of some sort to develop between Clementine and someone else. It doesn't have to be a big deal, maybe just subtle lines and eye contact at first, and if you want it to, you can have it develop further.

How old is Clementine now? 13? 14? It's unrealistic to think that, yeah even though it's a zombie apocalypse etc, Clementine wouldn't be thinking about romance or love. How many couples has she been surrounded by? There was Lee and Carley kinda (I'm sure Clementine picked up on Lee's feelings for her), Kenny and Katjaa, Omid and Christa, Rebecca and Alvin, Matthew and Walter, Kenny and Sarita, hints of Luke and Bonnie and Luke and Jane... I just think a small crush would be quite sweet and allow Clementine to be a little innocent, naive kid for a while.

    For you DabigRG

This is done in the first person.

The smell of burning buildings and flesh still hangs in the air.

Two days since we were attacked by raiders.
It was not easy, it is never easy when your opponents are humans like us.
Looking at my hands, my trigger finger still aches from all the shooting.
I cannot believe they drove a herd of walkers through our gates just to distract us from their raid on the children's center.

All around the remains of the center there are so many of our people just standing, dazed, their children gone..taken by those people.
A tear tries to roll down my cheek, wipe it away. I am thirteen and a half...I have known for awhile now that I probably wont see my next birthday.
Why should I, hell sometimes I feel that I do not deserve too.

I miss Lee, I miss him a lot. He died to save me, he died because I believed a man that said he had my parents.

I sit myself down and lean against a wall, feels so good to just rest.
Lee would say that I cannot go on thinking the way I do.
I know it too, but sometimes it would be so easy to just stop fighting. I could just not fight any more.
Omid and Christa...they would say I am being selfish. But then again, the are dead...I believe that Christa is dead..perhaps they are together again, like Kenny and Katjaa and Duck.

I killed Kenny and Omid. Omid was an accident, should not have left the gun on the sink, foolish child.
Broke Christa's heart and she lost the baby...thats on me too.

Kenny, god if only I could have talked him down...if I could have done something.
My hands have so much blood on them, I hope there is no heaven or hell...I know when I die...the chances of me seeing heaven..
.I just hope there is nothing there.
You know the worst part about this life of mine...I can hardly remember what my parents looked like.
It is like looking at a blurry picture...the details are fading. If I even made it to heaven...how could I even find them.
The tears start coming again, I am so tired.
I am so sick of this...all of this. Building things only to see it get destroyed.
Jane was skeptical when I said we could make things work...that we should not be afraid to try to make a society that worked.
I convinced her. Fooled her...she had come to love being part of this settlement...and she made me believe in it when I felt lost.
She died trying to save some of the children...the building collapsed from the flames...we got her out but her back was broke and she was so burned.
    I shot her.
If I had not of convinced her, badgered her...she could be still alive.
She was always a survivor on her own, but I took her away from that... Blood on my hands.
I put the gun to her head and she looked so peaceful at that moment, like the pain was lifted from her because she knew..it was going to be over.
They took AJ. I failed Rebecca and Alvin.
Two more people I have let down.
Well I can do something about that.
We are sending people in all directions in an attempt to find out where these assholes come from.
I will find them..I will hurt them. I have nothing to lose, so why not do this.
I wipe the tears away....children cry, but I cannot be a child any more.
I need to kill these people and get AJ back...or die trying...either way..at least some of my pain will go away.
