About the [Name] will remember that(?). Can we go back to the old formula?

What I mean is that during Season 2, the only notification was ''Someone will remember that'' which, let's be honest, didn't do jacksh*t.

However in season 1, it was way more detailed. Things like:

-[Name] appreciates that.
-[Name] noticed that...
-Your actions hurt [Name].
-[Name] agrees/disagrees with you.

Even your actions were notifications: You saved [Name], you picked ''this'' instead of ''that". For me, it made a better experience of the game. Anyone except me wants to see the same thing in season 3?

  • Yeah, I'd like that too.

  • Yeah, I noticed that too during my current/3rd playthrough. It was honestly kinda jarring.

  • Agreed, S2 was where it had the least flavor. I'm surprised it upped a notch in Michonne.

  • They've done a better job with those in pretty much all of their recent games. Michonne had quite a few unique ones, Batman's notifications have some personality, TFTBL takes full advantage of the notifications... S2 is the only one that didn't have much variety.

  • Yeah. I want it too

  • I'd love that. The "[Name] will remember that" is so overused.

  • Michonne has one of my favorites!

(?) Your Story sounds like Bullshit.

  • Haha, reminds me of when I was playing TWAU the other day and Grendel was talking to Bigby while drunk and passed out. Then we got a notification saying "Grendel won't remember this."

  • enter image description here

i agree with the above comments.

  • You had a couple of notifications like that (one being Troy might remember that in Episode 3), but yeah, it would be nice to see more unique notifications again.

  • Most of the "will remember that" in season 2 were completely useless (like when someone is about to die, that notification shouldn't come up at all, because it makes no sense. It would be much better if it was something like "appreciates that"). I do hope we will get more varied notifications in season 3.

  • Don't forget Game of Thrones.

    (?) Jon Snow knows nothing.

  • I wonder why they changed the format for S2 in the first place

  • Probably due to rushed development or something similar.

  • The same thing happened in Season 1 too you know, that wasn't exclusive to Season 2. You had a notification saying "Carley will remember that" 5 seconds before Lilly shoots her.

  • Honestly, I don't think that's the case, simply because of how simple those notifications must be. It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to implement one of those into a scene. Maybe even less if they have a code template for it.

I think they simply decided to go for more simple ones in S2. Then after seeing some people actually react negatively to it, they decided to start doing more varied ones again.

  • Perhaps. Though the rumors that there were a number of rewrites might also be a reason.

  • Well, that might be because a few seconds later she says something about Lee trying to help, so it could be related, hence why it says "she will remember that". In season 1 there was a much better system anyway, even with a few exceptions here and there.

  • I really enjoyed how TFTBL poke fun at this. And considering how humorous and sometimes fourth wall breaking the jokes are in Borderlands, it is really appreciated it. :D

  • Oh god yeah, i just hated the "so and so will remember that" appearing all the time in season 2 because it did fuck all.

Rebecca never "remembered" or more so referred to when Clem listened to her baby kick. Carver never "remembered" something Clem determinantly said in his office. Even things you said to Kenny, he never reminded you that you said this and that to him. Yet in Season 1 it was just wonderful. The effort the team put it into every detailed choice made us feel every choice mattered. I've said this before but even minor dialogue choices such as telling the St John's who was in charge of your group and later telling Brenda something different, Andy would question you about it. If Lee chooses the line "Duck?" when you first meet Kenny, he'll say "yeah like water off a duck's back". Lee will mention later in episode 3 to Kenny "what happened to water off a duck's back" but he won't say this if Kenny didn't say that to him in episode 1.

It's little things like that which made me love season 1 so much. I don't want to be negative saying this but i just don't hold much hope of this new game ever replicating that of the first game. Unless they put more effort into every detailed choice, add more gameplay/hubs, character interactions with still dialogue options to choose, development and longer episodes, then it will just be another season 2.

  • Well, they've gotten a bit better at it since Season 2, so I wouldn't be too worried about it being too stale. But, yes, more notification diversity is welcome.

  • What did the (?) mean anyway?
