Thoughts on new TWD: A New Frontier Trailer?
I just wanted to know what other peeps thought of the new trailer for The Walking Dead at The Game Awards. Was it good in your opinion? I had to watch it a few times to start to like it.

Clem looks so great! Her voice sounds kinda souless but I guess it makes sense. Idk how happy I am about it being centred around Javier he seems a bit boring.
How many members of Javier's family you think have died? The only ones confirmed to be alive so far are maybe Hector and the little girl (Kate? Eleanor?).
The boy and the girl in her 20s are also still alive (see key art). His father and mother are dead, and if I had to guess, probably the David guy too. That guy just screams walker fodder to me.
I like it how Clementine's voice is more adult now but still recognizable. Melissa did a great job!
What's all those over-bright shines and white glows in their eyes?
Even in the dark... Feels so plastic.
Season 2 has less detail but better style.
I love the video but I have to agree. It doesn't even feel like The walking Dead. Hopefully this is temporary.
I enjoy the preview, but I got this odd Fairbanks vibe when I see Javier and his family. It is like the Fairbanks family in Michonne was a foreshadow of Javier's family.
10/10. Clem looks and sounds AMAZING
There was a small, tiny chance Telltale will quit turning Clem into Clambo. It's gone now.
No idea. I watched Dora once and her family was big.
The only thing I don't like is how shiny the eyes are. The rest of it looks fine to me.
Just their eyes? Everything looks like a greased up oily pig. Even in the dark their faces are shinning.
Was pretty good I thought. Should be interesting to find out more about the new character. Clementines voice sounds really different. Did they get a new voice actor in?
They were tearing up, so…
Yeah, mainly the eyes. The rest of it looks fine to me, personally. Even the skin. It doesn't really look that bad. Stylistically, I think it's kind of neat. It looks like they're trying to emphasize rim lighting around the characters.
Dude, of course it's Melissa Hutchison. How would you not recognize her voice?
Yeah...I hope they don't go too overboard with it or this'll just end up being S2 all over again.
The trailer was fine, but that awkward motion capture is going to take some getting used to.
The trailer was really good, but did anyone else notice it appears Javier is Clem's hostage?
I wonder how Javier feels about that
"I got subdued and handcuffed by a 13 year old, where did I go so fucking wrong"
It's was a good trailer. One thing that bothered me a little was when they spoke Spanish there wasn't any subtitles.
Uh... what?
Still not sure what to think of Javier and the whole "family" thing. Since the plot seems to be about Javier looking for some family members, it kind of makes me wonder how is Telltale going to make us invested in these new characters that we have no connection with. Watching the preview, I couldn't care less about them (maybe I'm just heartless) and it's not a little introduction that is going to change that.
I am ok with playing as Javier (even though I still don't know how I feel about him, the trailer didn't show a lot that would make this character interesting in my eyes) and I'm ok with having Clem by my side and not play as her, but the family thing they put so much emphasis on is sounding really meh because I don't see Javier interacting with these characters enough to make me care for them, therefore, to make me care for the plot. Am I the only one feeling this way? I don't know, maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself here.... I'm still excited though, but I think part of it is because I just want to interact with Clem, see how much she grew and what happened during that time skip.
If their first meeting plays like Lee and Molly's first meeting, where Clem beats Javi down unless the player has twitch reflexes, that would be amazing.
"No. He's awake."
I got chills.
Meh.
It's here:
Yeah, I considered something similar, but thought it was appropriate for what they showed.
But I want to know the winner!
David's Spanish is terrible, by the way.
What are the properties of the slang "meh?" You ought to know its properties in order to utilize the word properly.
Ok...TellTalegames has many faults...but they can make you care about stupid Loaderbots...I think they can pull off a family.
I always thought meh was pointless. Just use eh.
I agree with you. Javier is not that appealing to me yet. That character just sounds and looks flat and boring. It's not because he is new but he is a long shot from Lee or even Luke. Javier seems to only be a much more bland Luke 2.0 and seems to only had been thrown into the series as some sort of thing to appease the folks that hated playing as Clem and to avoid their backlash while also potentially drawing in new audiences too lazy to play all previous episodes to catch up to date.
It's as if the comics said they were demoting Rick as supporting character to some new weirdo named Steve that no one feels like trying to get invested in. And there is a chance to not like new characters, be they allies or villains or main protagonists. I also think they might be trying to wean slowly the masses off of caring or loving Clem. Since they made here even more colder since S2 apparently and because they could be contemplating a way for her future permanent separation or demise from the games. If everyone hates the Javier dude then perhaps Clem is safe again. Can't surely say. But I believe the game might look smoother if Javier was actually supporting character to Clem. Because now we got to start learning and investing time and emotion into this new dude when it's risky whether or not ya might feel where he is coming from or not.
I was being sarcastic.
And? I was stating my opinion on the term.
Dont think I'm going to like Javier if I can get him killed I will. Other than that Clem looks and sounds great but I hope we find out where Kenny/Jane is
I was just about to say I hope one of the episodes ends with him dying lol. This is going to be a bore if they're releasing two episodes because they want to replace Clem with this new guy, so the first episode is going to be us playing through the start of the zombie apocalypse, again, with someone nobody asked for.
I agree, I was watching that scene with his grandfather attacking the family and I was just thinking I literally do not care about the emotional connection you're trying to establish here just give me Clem, Aj, and the option to control Kenny or Jane.
I don't know how to explain it, but I think my main issue is the whole family thing and how Telltale is trying to "force" that on us and make us care? Every time we've seen Javier so far, he is always talking about his family or doing things to find/protect his family. And I'm just sitting here thinking, why the hell should I even give a crap about that? Specially when Clem and AJ are still out there. I have to get invested in this new main character AND his family? Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time getting attached to characters if I don't get to interact with them for very long and go through a bunch of different situations with them. Unless they seem like interesting characters straight from the beginning, which honestly wasn't the case with any of Javier's family members. That preview literally did nothing for me (except Clem at the end). But well, I just hope finding and protecting Javier's family won't be all what season 3 is about... I actually really want to like Javier and I want him to be a strong, interesting, badass character, but so far he seems so flat and weak, specially comparing to Clementine. He feels like a background character on the walking dead universe. Someone who could join Clem's group and die a few episodes later, you know? Lol But well, first impressions aren't everything so I'm hoping Telltale will prove me wrong.
