Thinking about leaving the forum for a while
I don't feel like there's a lot of room for constructive conversations anymore and it likely won't be until the episodes are released. I'm not really in the mood to hate characters we know nothing about for the sake of hating or even for the sake of conversation because I generally don't have a hateful personality. So I won't be on that bandwagon and I guess that means I'm in the minority. Have a nice holiday season and enjoy the premiere episodes everyone.

There are even less room for that when you make useless threads like this. How is your presence on the forum related to the games it's for discussing?
No matter what my opinion is I'm going to get ganged up on by the majority. You're calling my thread useless right off the bat when my whole point was to show my frustration that our community has dived into hatred and negativity for something and someone we know little to nothing about. And now on top of that we have members arguing with each other again. Everyone has the right to their own opinion and that is fine but it pains me to see so much negativity around here and I don't want to be apart of that. I got tired of the forum when the Kenny vs. Jane debates came up because of how negative and hateful that got. So yeah I am going to leave the forum and this is just an example of how the hate and negativity can affect people. I don't come on here to see more of the world's darkness. I come on here to chill out and discuss something I'm a fan of with other fans and enjoy myself. And also, I get tired of people being rude to me for no good reason when I treat them with respect. Please think about that next time. Take care.
Sorry you feel that way, though I can see why you'd be unable to have constructive conversations when you view longtime fans as hating for the sake of hating because people are upset this season has been presented as being focused on an entirely new character rather than the established one with a large following. Hope you enjoy them when they come out, and hopefully they're a lot better than I'm currently expecting them to be.
Yeah, it's useless because it's not discussing the matter the forum is for, the games themselves, that is literally the definition of uselessness on here, it has nothing to do about hate.
Bye
Don't leave, TJ. Maybe that scene will look different during gameplay but right now we've got trailer only. I interpret what I see.
Thank you for at least giving a kind response. And I'm sorry if I was unfair in my view but I see a lot of people who ARE hating just for the sake of hating. I can understand if you are upset about this but my problem was hating a new thing without knowing all the details. I had trouble moving on from Lee after season one so I can see why people would have trouble not having only Clem be the focus this season. I hope you manage to enjoy the season as well and sorry if I offended you.
Don't take me leaving personally. I think it's just the general overall vibe being spread around. I don't do well with a lot of negativity anymore because I had a lot of negativity throughout my life. I try to avoid it as much as I can. Not to say I don't like constructive criticism but hating a character for no reason to me is like hating a person for no reason. And I've been through that so I guess in my mind I put myself into Javier's shoes and would just want the benefit of the doubt and if I failed to prove myself, then fair enough. I can see where you're coming from but I took it more as he didn't know what was going on and was a scared teenager.
I think one day the forum will move past the Javier hating. But if he turns out to be a ruthless scumbag, then I'll be with you guys. Just not as vocal.
Dude that's just what the internet has become, a place for sad insecure people to vent and bitch about near enough anything.
Go onto a sports athletes page or video on YouTube and see comments like - he sucks, does steroids, fluke win, overrated etc
Or a celebrities profile or interview comments full of people mocking their looks or asking why people find them attractive - too fat, too tall, tall short, too skinny, racist comments etc etc
Normal people don't spend their time randomly trashing stuff because they have better things to do. The problem is because of that they don't post as much and you end up seeing more posts from insecure pathetic people "this game sucks lolz" "I'll comment something bad on YouTube just because lolz" etc
The internet is now a platform for frustrated insecure people to vent
My rant wasn't directed at anyone here btw, it's perfectly fine to dislike a game or film. It was just a summary of what the internet has basically become
No worries, no offense was taken. I suppose I didn't have as much trouble with Lee because he as much as I liked him as a character, he kind of ended up as more an extension of myself by the end. Protecting Clem and seeing her become more capable was a major focus, so the end was a bitter sweet.
When the first trailer dropped, ok, there's a new guy working with Clem. Pretty much all we've heard since then has been Javier, Javier, Javier. Then we get a new trailer shortly after the release date and its... 2 minutes of the new guy years before where we left off in the last episode, and 15 seconds of major character who's story I, and I'd imagine others, have been waiting 3 years to continue. Between this and dropping the Season 3 with this "New Frontier" moniker its looking like they're trying to distance themselves from the original games.
It's hit a bit of a sore spot with people. I had multiple playthroughs of both seasons on the 360, I bought both seasons again when I jumped to next gen so I'd saves to continue future installments with. Everything I've seen and heard so far has really disheartened me.
I guess I see what you mean. I've been playing Season One and Two on my PS4 and Michonne by extent to get myself ready for the new season. I can see where you're worried about them distancing themselves from the previous games but I think they're trying to keep tight lipped about mostly everything. We have no idea what Clem's story will be this year which is basically what we knew before Season Two. Hell, we thought Omid and Christa would be major characters. I'd like to think if Clem is only playable in flashback then it is a significant story. Like Kenny/Jane/Whoever can be still apart of the story important enough. Telltale walked themselves into a corner I think with the big choice last season and their only real way to deal with this was to tell it spread out over a season and to do that, they'd probably need another playable character to do it. I mean let's face it, we're getting a two-part premiere right away which tells me the season is going to go pretty fast.
It's just upsetting for me seeing a lot of arguing or just plain rudeness coming from members on here. I'd like to think we'll be blown away with this season. And I'd like to think even more so for long term players.
I agree there's no reason to take out frustrations on others over this simply because they disagree with them. People, my self included, need to vent but that's not a cool way to go about it. I expected another timeskip rather than flashbacks, honestly, in a similar way to how S2 started.
S2 speculation is going back a ways though, I remember some conversation about whether or not those two we saw were Omid and Christa but I can't recall if they were confirmed before the first episode released. All the teasers and promo pics revolved around Clementine, though. We knew she would be returning as the focus of the season again. The announcement of the two episodes releasing simultaneously has me even more worried that they're going to be splitting episodes between the characters, especially if the Video Game Awards video was just the start of an episode, taking place way back during S1. If I'm being honest, I might go back and revisit it at a later date but I'll probably just rush through all of Javiers stuff as quickly as I can, I'd pretty much only care about the episode that gets back to continuing the narrative of the previous seasons.
I actually had fully intended to replay both seasons this month, but the last trailer killed any desire to do that lol
Yeah I wish we had more of an answer right now as to what the two episodes mean but I have a feeling we'll know nothing until the 20th. For now I'm taking it with a grain of salt.
I'm sorry you're frustrated about this whole thing. You're very respectful and decent to talk to so I actually enjoyed this conversation.
Likewise. You're probably right, I imagine we'll get a launch trailer and not much more before the release, I'm hoping for the best though. Just preparing myself for the worst. With any luck they'll find a good balance and things will get more civil.
I feel the same.
