I'd say the main character of season one is pretty debatable.
Regardless, generally a lot more freedom with who you're picking as the player character in the first game of a new series. Less so when the the first two games heavily centered on one character who became playable, and you release about 4 minutes of promotional material that feature her for 30 seconds and a spoken line or two, while heavily featuring some new guy. In the third game of a series that has followed a pretty focused narrative arc.
Javier seems like a believeable character. Clem is better as an NPC imo. Im pretty happy that he is the main focus. I think I am like one of the only 3 people in this forum who already love Javier and are ok with him beeing in the focus of the game.
You're not alone Walker, I'm excited about Javier also. It seems that Kirkman is back with questions and answers for TT and I'm happy about that. Season 1 had direction, season 2 did not, the characters in S1 were great, S2 had annoying characters that were unbelievable. New Frontier has me excited about the next chapter. Kirkman had good advice for S1 and his absence from S2 was apparent.
Telltale has said that you will be playing as both characters at times, so I'm guessing it will be similar to 400 Days with the exception be… moreing in the same time frame and each character working together. I'm guessing that in a similar way of the choose to go as Batman or Bruce in Batman Telltale, at times we will be asked to choose who to play as to go to a certain character. I couldn't care less if Javier is the main focus. In a way Clem was the main focus in S1 and you play as her in S2 so there's that lol. My problem is that the writers focused on her so much in S2 that the rest of the writing got thrown all over the place. Good characters like Alvin and Pete were thrown away and characters like Carlos, Nick, and Luke were just poorly written. Rebecca started out as a really annoying person, yet redeemed herself later. Jane was just....moving on lol. The only good character besides Clem in S2 was Kenny and he was the only rational adult al… [view original content]
I think they're trying to make us like him because Clem already gets the love from fans and Javier doesn't. So whenever they talk about Seas… moreon 3 they try to make us interested but it's having the opposite effect since Javier is all they talk about. So fans get angry at him. Honestly, I think Javier is going to be a good edition to the series but I'd be lying if I said I'm not a little annoyed at TellTale for saying how important he is compared to Clem.
I was personally a lot more excited for him when there was less information.
Well, in fairness, the guy's entitled to his opinion and shouldn't be expected to stop playing the game's because he didn't like the shit stain that was season 2. Just because some critics liked it, doesn't mean they're automatically right, nor wrong, for that matter. It's all opinion.
I was originally all pro Javier, but just from the little bit I've seen from this trailer, he seems a bit generic. I really didn't see any highlights from his character or any clear indication of what his personality will be, though he is giving off a Luke-ish vibe so far. Still, it's early days and I won't be able to judge completely until my hands are actually on the game.
But hey, whatever way he turns out, I'm still gonna be glad Clementine ain't the lead protagonist this time around.
Stating something's a shit stain is not giving an opinion, it's stating something. The technical problems are probably why it wasn't rated closer to the first season.
Regardless, being entitled to an opinion has absolutely nothing to do with thinking something that isn't much worse than the first season would imply he thought little of the first season, so why even continue buying them?

Fine. In my opinion, much of season 2 is a shit stain.
And no, I'd imagine the reasons it wasn't rated closer to season 1 is because the story, the choices and the characters are quite poor, in comparison to the first. The first game had technical problems as well, but it was still a much more enjoyable and better constructed game.

I thought he was with the baby, not trusting Carver and his pals, his judgement on Jane, his whole biography really. The only time he wasn't was when they were captured. I told him not to break his bindings. He lost an eye for Clem. He said that they had to escape. After Reggae "fell" off the roof, that was obvious. Carver had to be killed also.
People should not judge a character by a short trailer. People would have not cared about Lee if the trailer was shown with him in the police car at the beginning and that's it. Patience is the key here. That trailer shows Javier at the beginning of the outbreak. I'm sure that I would be scared also at first as this is something terrifying. This isn't Kill Bill, lol. I'm sure that in time, Javier will be competent. I'm glad that some focus is being taken off of Clementine as this will expand the story and make us care for someone new. It's not called Walking Dead: Clementine for a reason. We need a good and believable bad guy like Negan and better characters for us to care about Season 3. Carver was generic and his mo was that of a cult leader. His voice acting was good, yet the writing was bad. I'm excited to see possible Whisperer members as Negan is in prison right now. He may escape though and we can talk to Jeffrey Morgan, I mean Negan, lol. If that was the case, perhaps we can find out if he is someone that we can choose to follow or choose to try to stop.
They do kind of look a little alike and Javier seems to give off that nice guy vibe, which Luke automatically had as well. I'm not saying they will be alike, but I do get a feeling that there may be similarities for some reasons.
Really, It's a feeling for me, more than anything else, possibly because I've yet to see any clear distinct personality traits from Javier just yet, so I may just be applying him to Luke simply because their appearance is similar in my opinion.
Yeah, I kind of see the nice guy vibe, but Javier seems to be the typical boring nice guy to me. Luke had this thing about him, the way he delivered certain lines, always making funny remarks that I just don't see Javier pulling it off. Maybe it's the voice actors, I don't know. From the previews, it kind of gave me the impression that Javier isn't as charismatic as Luke. But well, I'm only judging him from a few minutes of video, maybe he will surprise me.

You see, that's the one problem with Trump's plan; 5 feet tall, 50 feet tall, 500 feet tall... it doesn't matter. All it takes is a digging a little hole and bam, you're on the other side of that shit
Trump's thinking vertically, when in reality, he needs to take a more grounded approach to the situation
Can we leave politics out of this. It's a little racist and rude to bring up Javier's ethnicity. It's worse to basically accuse Javier of being an illegal citizen.
Why are you so upset? Are you one of these people that haven't even seen Javier's story and is already stating it's bad because it's not a 11 year-old girl turning off wind turbines and breaking doors open by herself?
I'm one of those people that doesn't like new characters being forced when the focus doesn't need to be shifted. But it's great that you'll happily take whatever you're spoonfed.

From my perspective, I don't feel like Telltale is trying to force us to like Javier and his family. The way I see it, they are simply telling us a little about who Javier is, a little bit about his life before the apocalypse and a little bit why he must care for his family after 3 years in the zombie apocalypse. We have only seen a preview, a teaser trailer and we have yet to know why Javier was late for his grandfather's death (Sorry if I am wrong, I have only seen the preview once.). Would be pretty cool if we can choose whatever Javier gets late or not for his grandfather's passing.
Obviously more family member are going to die and this put increasingly responsibility on Javier's shoulders as he might become increasingly forced to take extreme measure to protect his remaining family.
I am open to play as Javier and looking forward to see how his and Clementine's story shape the plot of Season 3. I am still wondering how I should play him. Maybe I am gonna play him as how I would have played Lee, if he has survived till Season 3, a far more pragmatic person who cares about people who earned his trust.

It's not quite jumping to conclusions when you cite faults in a game while praising another, despite both sharing very similar issues. The majority of the first game had just as many issues with the story as the second, from its inconsistent to downright unlikeable characters to ridiculous plot point that would be a stretch, at best. What they nailed, they nailed just right, and that was writing the protagonist as sympathetic and doing a good job at getting people invested in the characters most of the game was centered around.
The supporting cast, in both games, were never particularly done well. They had their moments, but season one was very much Lees game, and Clementines by extension. People go on about season 2s cast, but I don't particularly remember much fanfare in season one outside of the main characters. Carly seemed well liked. Kenny's had a following, but there was still a lot of complaining about his flip flops and attitude. Everyone hated Duck. Did Katjaa have any conversation? Larry and Lilly were all over the place, Christa and Omid as well. And Ben. Let's not get into Ben.

All the people calling Javier a coward etc. confuses me. Yes, the way he peers from behind the corner in the trailer looks a little weird, but I'd contribute that to TTG trying to create suspense. Also, you are forgetting that Javier is the first person in his family to actually think to attack zombie grandpa, which is hardly something a coward would do.
That's the moment I began to like Javier, or at least be intrigued by his character. He seems like a quick-thinking guy who will be the first to jump to action when needed. I wonder how they could incorporate that into the gameplay, considering in S2 Clementine's actions were often a result of "Clem, do/don't do this". It will be nice if Telltale manage to structure the episodes in a way where the player thinks of the ways to get through conflict, how to help other characters, etc. without the characters saying so.

Also few people seems to notice the fact that Javier is attacking his own zombified father. Which hints the darkness within him and the pragmatic measure he is willing to take to protect his family. This is already a good sign that Javier has flaws which makes him interesting.

Wait, what does him being a Kenny fan have to do with it? I'm a Kenny fan and so are multiple other people on these forums, some who may like the idea of a new protagonist and others who don't. Don't go around acting all high and mighty just because someone's questioned your viewpoint, even if they were slightly obnoxious about it.
Okay, but as I said, all of that is in your opinion. I, for one, liked more members of the supporting cast in season 1 than any of the new characters in season 2, but that doesn't automatically mean I hated everything in season 2 either. I can see where you're coming from and get what you mean, but to assume just because people didn't like season 2 must mean they didn't enjoy the first, is wrong.

I'm a Kenny fan but I don't really think Kenny could be called rational in season 2.
Why is everyone complaining about Javier? SEASON2 revolved around Clementine and we all saw how shitty that turned out to be.
Slightly more shitty than season 1? Because it wasn't scored much lower than season 1. Why are you even still playing the games, then?

He's a Kenny fan, typical.
I was generalising about games in general, not just the Walking Dead.
Oh and what does that make you? A typical fanboy/girl of precious Drowny Luke?
Boo hoo!
I'd take every season 1 character over season 2's characters any day. Even guys like Larry or the St John's.
