But Sarah didn't want to die; she simply had a hard time finding the motivation to keep moving because she was overwhelmed by her emotions--same with a lot of characters. Her reactions to whatever Clementine does to her after that point makes this clear.
Also, the "canon" death really wasn't her own doing since 1. it was a freak accident that really doesn't make sense when you think about it, 2. she was simply staying out of the way and wasn't quick enough in getting to safety, and 3. Jane herself nearly fell as well for similar reasons.

I feel like there was huge potential wasted on Sarah's death.
Carley, my Lee really liked her, and she was very capable, probably Chuck wouldn't have died if she was still alive.

That girl was bit though. She killed herself because she knew she was already dying and she did not want to become a walker.
