He's stealing my precious clementine's spotlight, since she's PERFECT and the ONLY reason I play this shitty series (especially season 2 LOL!). He's sooooooooo boring in comparision to Clem who is an OG badass, and she'll make javier her bitch XDDDD
I don't hate Javier. I love him! He is Jesus! He is GOD! He is the one true reason why I am bothering to play this game! Out with boring Clementine and in with the handsome Javier!
Excuse my joke, I just did it to counter my comrade @freelancepolicefan11 's post. I think the reason why people are hesitant or hostile to Javier being the main character, it is because Telltale is saying that Season 3 is his story not Clementine.
I can understand why people feel upset. It is like with Metal Gear Solid 2. Solid Snake was the main character of the first game and he was marketed as the main character then Kojima made a bait and switch by revealing Raiden as the main character.
Unlike that game, Telltale is at least honest and we will still be playing as Clementine. I am open to Javier as one of the main protagonist as well as continuing Clem's story.

God...That hurt to type.
Not really, since I wasn't the only one to make that comparison. Honestly, I have no opinion of Javier himself yet, but I do not have the best thoughts about the game itself.
That's not really fair to say since he's a new character in a barely previewed unreleased game that is a part of a series that has had 2 episodic installements(and a DLC) already being compared to a character that was very much at the center of the series since the beginning.

I guess people are just upset that we won't be spending the entire time with Clemmy, but is that really a bad thing? We've had enough time with her after all.
Don't hate the fella, but it is rather upsetting Javier will be our protagonist more so than Clementine from what I've heard. When the game comes out we can really start to judge.

So... he's a rip off because he's a guy that has teamed up with a teenage female survivor? What, did TLoU patent 'man with teenager in apocalypse'?
Because the way I look at it, the 'similarities' start and end there. Forgive for being blunt, but it seems like a BS claim to me.
I try to look at a situation from multiple perspectives if I can, but honestly? I've seen this claim before, and no matter what perspective I try to look at this from, it just comes across as straw grasping to me.
I don't get why this whole forum thinks everyone hates Javier. Ya'll need to stop being dramatic. A majority don't have a problem or feel indifferent about him. Probably 5% of the forum actually hates him and half of those people are just trolling. Cant stand people preaching about how this fanbase is terrible because "so may people hate Javier." Again, stop being dramatic.
Its not really that far-fetched a conclusion, since the Last of Us was a very acclaimed game in its release, Ellie is arguably just as popular as Clementine if the fan material is any indication, and this upcoming installment of the Walking Dead seems to be going for a more realistic artstyle, a darker tone, and has a visibly aged-up Clementine traveling alongside an older guy on a trek to find some group. Compounding the issue is the fact that they've shown us relatively little things about the game itself(speaking as someone who only here's about it through side comments in threads like these), so from what there is to go on, the Last of Us: Walking Dead Edition is an easy joke to make.
Well, technically I said "looks like," but whatever. As I just said up above: Its not really that far-fetched a conclusion, since the Last of Us was a very acclaimed game in its release, Ellie is arguably just as popular as Clementine if the fan material is any indication, and this upcoming installment of the Walking Dead seems to be going for a more realistic artstyle, a darker tone, and has a visibly aged-up(ironically looking older than Ellie and Sarah) Clementine traveling alongside an older guy on a trek to find some group. Compounding the issue is the fact that they've shown us relatively little things about the game itself(speaking as someone who only hears about it through side comments in threads like these), so from what there is to go on, the Last of Us: Walking Dead Edition is an easy joke to make.

I really like Javier so far, it feels kinda refreshing to have a new main character. We don't know much about his personality so we won't feel the need to play him a certain way. Like Lee's personality was different for each player, I feel like Javier will be the same.
Comments
None, unless you consider having no interest in playing him the same as hating him. Then the reason is I have no interest in him.
Why do people even hate him anyway? We don't know the guy yet, let's give him a chance.
I think you just answered your own question.
But really, I don't.
Oh come on, you can't tel me you didn't get that parallel.
That is an extremely forced comparison.

I actually like him but I am a bit salty about the story being all about him.

By your logic, we could say that Joel is a Lee ripoff too.
I'm sure you were trying to make a point somewhere in there, but it just seemed as forced as switching the focus of a series 3 games in
Not really, since I wasn't the only one to make that comparison. Honestly, I have no opinion of Javier himself yet, but I do not have the best thoughts about the game itself.
That's not a good reason to hate him, I'd rather wait and see how he fares as a protagonist and then express a judgment.
That's not really fair to say since he's a new character in a barely previewed unreleased game that is a part of a series that has had 2 episodic installements(and a DLC) already being compared to a character that was very much at the center of the series since the beginning.
I know right! It's stupid!
I guess people are just upset that we won't be spending the entire time with Clemmy, but is that really a bad thing? We've had enough time with her after all.
I suppose...to a point.
EDIT: What's wrong with Clementine's face?
People hate him because

Not being the only one who thinks it doesn't make it any less forced. It just means there's a lot of people with tin foil hats out there.

Clementine's fanbase is the one who hates Javier the most. Like seriously, these people are being so salty and makes me lose interest of Clementine.

Lee and Kenny would fit that role, too. Besides I don't think Javier will be exactly a guardian, more like a partner. A friend.

Oh, you got me worried there for a second.
I hate him because he's better looking than me.
...Jokes aside, I have nothing to hold against him. Why would I hate whom or what I don't know yet?

Thats one of the worst comparisons ive seen recently
Aw damn it, I wanted to make that joke.
Mods are watching. Pretend dead.
Jesus Christ, pc terror here is scary. And it's not just a mods. Other users are first to lapidate.
wow goodbye

Really now? Yeesh.
His grandma annoys me
