If this board had a following prior to the release of Season 1 and they released a trailer showing short clips of a little goody two-shoes l… moreittle girl named Clementine can you imagine how much hate and overeacting she would have gotten.
Those who are jumping to conclusions about Javier based off of about two minutes of footage we have gotten need to chill out. He very well may turn into a fan favorite just like the goody two-shoes little girl from season 1 did.
I don't hate Javier at all. In fact, I predict that he is going to be a fucking amazing playable character. He and Clementine are going to complement each other well, not take away from the other.
Fair enough, although I figured thats why Clementine was in this, to close her story, and pass the torch to a new character. What else is there for her to do except keep on keeping on?
I don't think that's it at all, I think people just like a measure of closure before you move on to someone else's story. All of season 2s e… morendings were iffy, at best. I have no problem with telling another story in the universe, but when they wanted to do that with the show they didn't make a new family the central story and keep Rick and company along as supporting cast. They did a spinoff.
That's a very good point. With the exception of a few unknown characters that aren't always connected to her, Season 2 all but removed any supporting cast for her to interact with and they would/wiil have to come up with a new story arc for her. Even the alone ending seems to be suggesting that she's just gonna become another Jane except nowhere near as unsympathetic and with AJ along for the ride.

I don't get why anyone would be upset that the last season ended on a cliffhanger and 2 years later they soft reboot the series with the old protagonist as a supporting character.
Just a warning, some spoilers if you're not caught up on the show/comic incoming.
That's the thing though, there's no need to bring her in as a supporting character to pass the torch when there's still a lot of story to be told across the country/world. TTs description of Frontier is just frustrating, saying that this is Javiers story, that we'll be meeting a girl and learning about the hardships she's been through. I PLAYED a good deal of those hardships in the first two seasons, there's no need to learn about them through someone else's eyes.
But back to her arc though, The Walking Dead across all medium repeatedly touches on the same conflicts because it's not ending just yet, but you can still do an ending acknowledging the state of things while bringing a sense of closure, ending on a more hopeful note. Like the situation on the show with the Saviors right now. Big Bads been revealed, there's multiple decent communities providing pulling their weight in contributions. Think about them without the Saviors around, though. That's multiple settlements of cooperative people, open to trade. It doesn't change the state of the world and what's left in it, but it takes a step back toward some sense of normalcy. I mean, even if you stayed in Wellington at the end if season 2, you never really know or see anything about the situation. Always kinda rubbed me the wrong way that they were willing to take in a child and an infant but turned refused to let in the only person who could actually contribute immediately.
I'm just saying, I feel you can actually end her story arc without compromising any future ones, I would have liked to been able to see her journey through to the end before starting a new one.

I saw people say something along those lines a lot and while I get some of the apprehension, what with the dark tone, slaughtered good folks, and jerkish guardians and all, I can't help but think that they're just being paranoid.
i don't hate him.
i'm actually excited i can play as a Male character again.
i'm not sexist or anything, it was cool playing as Michonne, i just prefer Male Protagonists.

"The new season will focus on newcomer Javier, whose backstory revolves about a man who is struggling to keep his family intact to survive the chaotic aftermath of the apocalyptic zombie outbreak."
But at least players get to take control of Clementine in flashbacks, as #myjavier
"We see her story through the eyes of Javier, a young man determined to find the family taken from him, and via playable flashbacks from Clem's past telling the story of how she came to be on a quest for vengeance."

I'd like to think we hold depictions of grown men differently than we do those of 8 year old girls, but this is apparently not the case.
To be honest, I think it's better that people hate Javi for taking some of Clem's spotlight over, say, hating him for being Cuban or something.
What's not to laugh at about "integumentary?"
Oh, you.
Either stop saying that you're kidding whenever someone says that you're in the wrong, or work on your sense of humor.
Pronouns are Javi/Javish/Javiself.
Cubaphobia.

Why would anyone really hate Javier at this point when we don't even have a full length episode to form an opinion?
I can understand the criticism that Javier might be a boring protagonist but all anyone can do is wait and see.
She cooks an amazing salsa.
The Clementine fans are utterly irrational

Now that's funny...

if we put 400 days into consideration. we have played as a guy 5 times and a girl 4.
true lol
I don't hate, but he does seem very bland and stereotypical so far hopefully the episodes will change my view

The old protagonist is a playable character, not "a supporting character."
