Is Paul Monroe (Jesus) not the only comic book character to be involved in S3? (Spoilers)
I saw the new trailer, and felt really hyped to play it, and screamed that Paul Monroe makes his appearance in this game. Now I really need to figure out if this is during the war with the Saviors or the Whisperers, and why Jesus is far away from his group, the Hilltops, maybe he's scouting to find new people? Also are a few of the other comic book characters going to appear in this story? (I can't imagine how cool it would be to see Clementine meet Carl, because they are somewhat alike) Also I think Jesus is going to sub for Jane/Kenny and teach Clementine more skills of survival and also to trust people more (perhaps martial arts? Lol).
It'd be cool if Paul isn't the ONLY character Clem and Javier are going to see during their travels. Maybe they'll show Michonne who is not that far from Virginia, or maybe show Ezekiel and his tiger Shiba and the Kingdom survivors. Could be crazy if the New Frontier guys are with the Saviors, it could explain why Paul is in the game.
Tell me your thoughts about Jesus's role in the story or about who else would appear from the comic series.

I doubt that Season 3 is set during The Whisperer War because Jesus has a different apperance in Season 3 than the current issue of the comics.
I think Season 3 takes place during the 2 year time skip, and Jesus is recruiting new survivors, he finds Clementine and Javier (And the group), Jesus will stay until Episode 5 where he goes back to Alexandria/Hilltop.
I think Michonne could make an apperance.
Well it seems we won't actually SEE the Whisperers or the Saviors, maybe we'll hear mentions of them during the game? Its like the first episode of S1, the cop tells Lee about a guy he drove to prison who was caught stabbing his wife, was ACTUALLY the guy in the prison during the comics who lied about being a tax fraud.
Jesus has his pre-timeskip appearance -> the game is most likely set during the timeskip -> no Saviors and no Whisperers
He might mention the Saviors, but not the Whisperers since he doesn't know of their existence yet.
If Jesus of all characters shows up, I bet we'll see at least one other person, as well. Jesus usually doesn't show up alone, you know?
I don't know who, though. Michonne, possibly. Maybe Aaron?
Wouldn't the saviors be led by Dwight at this point?
Perhaps Magna and her group, since they were (I believe) from Richmond?
Michonne seems like she could be a slim possibility as well.

I'd think Hilltop characters would have a better chance. I would like to see Ezekiel voiced by Dave Fennoy though.

Magna and Co. seem like a good possibility. Their backstory was always kind of shallow, so maybe it will be fleshed out more in the game.
This will definitely be interesting how they weave this new story into the universe. If Jesus is in it that means it can't take place too terribly far away from Alexandria. Perhaps this 'New Frontier' group are some offshoots of the Saviors.
It'd be exciting to see the locations from the comics, we might get a little "Carl meets 14 yr old Clementine" kind of scene. Both kids had to kill the people the people close to them, Carl had to kill his mom, and Clem had to shoot Lee (If you choose to). Or maybe she will see other important characters like
We could see others from Rick's group since Jesus seems to be a little right by Virginia, he wouldn't leave the Hilltops, so he's probably scouting for more good people, Clem will possibly be skeptical about him, kinda like Carl.
Thumbs up if Dave goes for Ezekiel acting.
He could be scouting further away from Virginia to Maryland for Rick or the Hilltops, to find survivors to join with them. Or maybe these guys called "The New Frontier" are causing trouble for Jesus's group.

True, but I heard during S1, Robert Kirkman was involved in its development adding Hershel Greene, Glenn, and during S2's development, Robert wasn't around for it and we didn't see any small character cameos, since there were no characters from the comics that were in South/North Carolina.
Now S3 is coming, and Kirkman returns to help with the game, since our characters are now located near Virginia where major events are taking place. This game will be huge for Walking Dead fans if they add just a few people from the books (depending on how long and how many episodes they'll give us).
Clem meeting Michonne would be super cool! I'd love to see Telltale's renditions of everyone in the comics/show. I know that's not possible but I'll take what I can get. :P
Michonne does stray from Rick's group from time to time during the series.
I'm not sure if Michonne will show up during season 3. Isn't she having her adventure on the boat during the Michonne mini series while all of The New Frontier is taking place? But, if she does show up, I wouldn't be disappointed. The voice actress for Michonne did an amazing job.
I also wouldn't mind seeing Aaron either. He's a pretty cool dude.

I hope we encounter Magna and her group, she's been around in the comics for a while now but we know next-to-nothing about her really.
They said the All Out War story with Rick vs. Negan was around season 2 of the game, and Michonne being with Pete and his crew meant this was the part of the comics where she left Rick and Ezekiel and then returned. So S3 is where Michonne is back in the group and the Saviors are defeated.
But, in the comic doesn't Michonne leave onto the boat a little bit after the Saviors are defeated because she feels like she deserves to be alone, and then returns right before the Whisperer War is about to take place? If I'm correct on the timeline, she would still be out on the water at this point since season 3 takes place during the calm period between the defeat of the Saviors and before the Whisperers attack.
