What were your "Cluster" choices?

From the new article from Kevin Bruner, he goes into how they had put the generator together, and how they'd put together "clusters" of different players determined by their choices--those lead to the 42 different "starting points" Kevin also refers to, with slight variations between them.

I wanted to see what choices players here have made, given the possible "Cluster Choices" they've revealed so far in this pic:

enter image description here

The decisions being:

  1. Did you give the dying man water?
  2. Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1?
  3. Did you save Sarah from the mobile home?
  4. Did you go with Jane or Kenny?
  5. (If you went with Jane)--Did you let the family in or not? Or
(If you went with Kenny)--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington?

Comments

  • Here are mine:

    1. Gave the dying man water. --Was hoping he could tell us about Christa.
    2. Went with Nick--I prefer the extra scenes and dialogue if we go with him, it adds more to his character.
    3. Saved Sarah from the mobile home. Tried to save her on the observation deck too, but I guess they're not taking that into account here.
    4. Went with Jane because she's the bestttt. And Kenny was beyond out of control.
    5. Let the family in. I love when the timer runs out and Jane decides to let the family in--shows a great change in her character and I'm optimistic these imo positive changes will continue into the future.
  • Sialark, I believe these are not the only choices taken into consideration! These are just the options that Cluster Nine is the most likely to have chosen!

  • Mine are:

Did you give the dying man water? Yes for info about what happen to Christa.
Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1? Pete
Did you save Sarah from the mobile home? No my opinion she was a lost cause
Did you go with Jane or Kenny? Kenny
(If you went with Jane)--Did you let the family in or not? Or
(If you went with Kenny)--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington? Stay in Wellington. Though i starting to feel like it might fall apart or people turn bad.

    1. Gave the dying man water in my first playthrough, but I think I've refused to in playthroughs since then.
    2. Pete, except in runs where I failed to click him or wanted to see the Nick route.
    3. Always saving Sarah (both scenarios) except in playthroughs where I'm trying to see what happens if Sarah's not there.
    4. I never remember because I try to have separate save files for this. However, my most common endings are alone (with both dead, I think), at Wellington, and inviting the suspicious family to Howe's.
    5. --see above--

Did you give the dying man water?
No i didn't. He didn't answer the question i asked him so he got no water. You really think giving him the water is going to make him answer a question he didn't answer before? If he were to answer the question it would have been when he was in need of the water.

Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1?
I went with Pete. To be fair, it was because i knew Nick survived no matter what.

Did you save Sarah from the mobile home?
Yes i did. I don't leave anyone behind if they don't deserve it. Especially not a child.

Did you go with Jane or Kenny?
I went with Kenny. I'll never abandon him.

If you went with Kenny--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington?
Stayed with Kenny. Again, i'll never leave him unless the game makes it impossible to avoid.

  • Literally all of the choices on the image were the ones I chose for my game XD so apparently i'm "Group Oriented".

The description is pretty accurate to how I play.

    1. Did you give the dying man water?
No. As Kenny would say, fuck that guy. He had no issue attacking us and possibly helped kill Christa and wouldn't give me info about her.

    2. Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1?
Pete. He believed and stuck up for Clementine in the bite situation and I wanted to return the favor.

    3. Did you save Sarah from the mobile home?
No. I went back and forth between being harsh with Sarah and helping her throughout the season, but when the final situation came up, it was just apparent she wasn't built to make it. Loved that, 'We can't be kids anymore' dialogue you can say to try to convince her, that's really what cemented the choice in my mind.

    4. Did you go with Jane or Kenny?
Neither. Upon replaying both seasons recently, I was more sympathetic towards Kenny than I was a couple of years ago (and my Clem has a similarly angry, dark streak to her), but I still chose to kill him in the end because I didn't think Jane deserved to die for what seemed like an accident. I also still ended up alone like in my original playthrough because I couldn't forgive Jane for orchestrating the whole thing and getting Kenny killed, plus my Clem kind of felt done with other people after S2.

Did you give water to the dying man? - I was hoping he could at least find it in his heart to tell me about Christa.

Did you go with Nick Or Pete? - I went with Pete, because I enjoyed his company more, and since he was bitten.

Did You save Sarah in the mobile home? Yes, I don't blame Sarah for going into shock after watching her father die right before her eyes, some people can handle it better, and Sarah just wasn't one of those people. I was hoping I would able to get her through her grief, but the world was out to get her.

Did you go with Jane or Kenny? - Jane. Kenny just wasn't right after what he did Carver. Jane did an awful thing. but I would of went with her if she just asked. "It was a stupid plan".

Did you let the family in at Howe's?

Yeah. Its so hard to trust people in this world, but I couldn't just let them pass by because the dad was a weird grump, his wife and son seemed very sweet, and if that sounds like a terrible reason. Oh well!

    1. I gave the dying man water.
    2. I went with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1.
    3. I saved Sarah from the mobile home?
    4. I went with Jane.
    5. I didn't let the family in....too suspicious >.>

Why did so many people give that guy the water? If he didn't answer your question when he was in need of the water what made anyone think he would answer your questions after he got what he wanted?

  • I did it because he asked for water, not because I thought he would be more inclined to answer.

  • Well it's kind of hard to answer when you're dehydrated and your throat is so dry you can't speak a word. Water would at least help with that.

  • Wouldn't Pete be more worthy of getting the water? I prefer to be nice and help people but if you tried to kill me or someone i care about only a few days earlier? You get nothing from me.

    Went with Pete
    Saved Sarah
    Went with Jane
Let Randy, Patricia and Gill in

  • Then he should have crawled over to the river. I gladly gave my water to Pete, this guy? No. I'm not giving water to a guy who attacked me a few days ago.

Pete wasn't asking. I'd like to imagine people would have sympathy enough to give me water regardless of my past in a situation like that dood.

Pete will eventually ask though if you went with him. I can't believe people would honestly help someone who could have killed you and possibly actually did kill your friend. Sympathy for a murderer? Really?

    1. Did you give the dying man water?

    Sure did.

    1. Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1?

    Nick

    1. Did you save Sarah from the mobile home?

    Of course.

    1. Did you go with Jane or Kenny?

    Kenny

    1. Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington?

    Went with Kenny

  • Yes, really.

Not all of us are selfish dickbags.

It's called compassion, he's already dying, he got his, easing his way out is not a bad thing.

I think those are just the specific choices that cluster needs to be #9. There are plenty more choices in Season 2, so I doubt your clementine is based on just those 5. Either way:
    1. Give Water to the Dying Man? - Yes
    2. Go with Nick or Pete? - Pete (I think. Though I may be talking about my PS3 save and not my PS4 one.)
    3. Save Sarah at the mobile home? - Oh Yeah
    4. Go with Jane or Kenny? --> [Let family in/not.... Stay with Kenny/Wellington] - I shot Kenny, and then went alone.

  • When I play these types of games, I make decisions that I would make irl.

    1. I didn't give the dying man water, because fuck him. He didn't deserve it.

    2. I went with Pete at the end of S2 E1, because he was one of my favorites, and was hoping I could save him.

    3. I didn't save Sarah at the mobile home, because she wasn't important to me. She was in shock and had given up at the worst possible time.

    4. I went with Kenny, because I'd rather be out there surviving than getting cozy in a community full of strangers. I don't know the Wellington people and for all I know, they could be another Terminus.

  • Did you give the dying man water?
No, he tried to kill us.

Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1?
    Pete

Did you save Sarah from the mobile home?
    No.

Did you go with Jane or Kenny?
    Kenny

Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington?
    Wellington.

  • Sialark, did you read what I said yesterday? :p

  • edited December 2016

(Warning, math ahead :p ...) You might be right...I'm just trying to figure out how they got to 42 starting points exactly. Unfortunately the math here doesn't make sense for the 5 different questions--you'd get 40 different combinations of all the above questions (2x2x2x2x2=32 different combinations if you went with either Jane or Kenny as there's an additional choice if you go with them [let the family in or not/ stay in Wellington or not] and 2x2x2x2=8 different combinations if you went alone; 8+32 = 40) but that doesn't come out to 42. :/

Also I'm sorry if that all probably sounded very confusing but I don't feel like making a diagram to explain myself right now lol...xp

I suppose it might be more complicated than that. I hope they reveal more about the generator because I'd really like to learn more about it.

Edit: And yeah I completely forgot about the "personality type" questions they're planning to ask, like the "What did your Lee teach your Clem?" question. Hm lemme do some research on that "K-centroid analysis with an eJaccard distance function" Kevin was talking about and I'll get back to you.

Sialark, I believe these are not the only choices taken into consideration! These are just the options that Cluster Nine is the most likely to have chosen!

  • Sialark, did you read what I said yesterday?

  • Lmfao I am Cluster 9, except I saved Pete instead of Nick. The rest is spot on

  • How you find out what cluster you are.

  • 1) Gave the man water.
    2) Helped Pete because Pete is the man.
    3) Saved Sarah
    4) Kennyyyyyyy
    5) First playthrough, I left Kenny to enter Wellington with AJ. For my second save file, I stayed with Ken.

    1. Gave Victor the water
    2. Helped Pete
    3. Saved Sarah
    4. Chose Kenny
    5. Left Wellington
  • The cluster is just for internal use to help determine just what kind of person you Clemmy is. And those are not the only parts...season 1 also plays into determining Clem....all those Scumbag Lee players who made Clementine a Scumbag in S2 are going to have to deal with an interesting teenager in S3 I have a feeling ;)

    • Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1? I went with Nick, I saw Pete try to act like he didn't get bit or whatever.
    • Did you save Sarah from the mobile home? Although I regret it, I left Sarah behind because I thought either Jane or Luke would die because she refused to move.
    • Did you go with Jane or Kenny? I went with Kenny.
    • (If you went with Kenny)--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington? I left Wellington with Kenny & AJ.

    1. Yes, I explicitly remember that, oddly. Needed info from him, and we were right near tons of water.
    2. Nick
    3. Yes, even though it was irritating
    4. Neither, both were more immature and counterproductive than Clementine. I shot Kenny since he became unstable and a huge liability.

Contemplating going with the route where I may have saved Kenny, but I can't rationalize it.

  • The decisions being:

    1. Did you give the dying man water? Yes. He was a human being after all.
    2. Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1? Nick. The guy needed help, and there was no way to help Pete. It's help one of them or help heither. The choice seems obvious to me.
    3. Did you save Sarah from the mobile home? I love that kid, I couldn't left her behind.
    4. Did you go with Jane or Kenny? I had several playthroughs, but my official one is where I kill Kenny after he kills Jane.
    5. (If you went with Jane)--Did you let the family in or not? Or Kicked them out. White dudes with black kid? Soemthing seems suspicious there. Even if it was just adoption, the guy became agressive when I told him to leave. I don't want that guy with me.
    6. (If you went with Kenny)--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington? Left with Kenny. Communities never end well, and if they do, the story is boring. I wanted emotion.

  • Did you give the dying man water? No
Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1? Pete
Did you save Sarah from the mobile home? Yes
Did you go with Jane or Kenny? Jane
(If you went with Jane)--Did you let the family in or not? I let the family in

  • *Did you give the dying man water? Nope.
    * Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1? Pete.
    * Did you save Sarah from the mobile home? Yes.
    * Did you go with Jane or Kenny? Kenny. Always with Kenny from day one.
    * (If you went with Kenny)--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington? I went with Kenny. Wellington could be dangerous.

    1. Did you give the dying man water? Yes. I thought he could tell us something about Christa's fate.
    2. Did you go with Nick or Pete at the end of S2E1? I went with Pete because I thought Nick's situation wasn't as dire as his uncle's, who was bitten and would have needed help in case we chopped his foot off later in order to save him.
    3. Did you save Sarah from the mobile home? Yes, it was a no brainer for my Clem, better a slap to the face than having another friend's death on her coscience for not trying enough.
    4. Did you go with Jane or Kenny? Couldn't kill Kenny, he was the closest thing to family for my Clem. Never cared much for Jane, honestly.
    6. (If you went with Kenny)--Did you go with Kenny or stay in Wellington? Went with Kenny. I would have never left him alone out there, nor would I have entered Wellington alone with a baby without knowing a single person in there.

    Edit: missing word.
