Anyone else not as hyped?

I don't know why but I'm just less interested in season 3 compared to how I felt for other seasons.
I think because how I've thought of the other recent telltale titles I'm worried about the quality of this seasons story, along with the rumor that people are saying these episodes are short aswell.

  • The only Problem i have is the Art Style. Every character looks way to plastic and they look wet all the time. It feels like they went to far with their new shader features. It feels "overdeveloped".

  • Graphics don't make a good game.

I do kinda miss when they looked like Comic Book Characters, though.

  • I just watched the Trailer against and it's actually the characters, who look weird. Everything else looks fine.

But i wait until i see it on my own TV, before i form my opinion.

I just miss the old cast. None of them are left in s3 except clem, with the obvious prediction Kenny or Jane will die.

  • i remember when season 2 was coming out, i couldnt sleep from excitment. this time i couldnt care less because:

    • no rewind feature
    • characters seem dull
    • they are tying the game to comics, which i dont read
    • episodes are going to be short like twd michonne
  • My excitements been going up, I was pretty down on the game but the crowd reactions and promotional images actually emphasizing Clem have undone a bit of the damage the VGA and launch trailers have done.

  • I'm not as excited as I used to be in the past. I've been more distracted with other Telltale titles like Batman even though it just finished. But I think this season will be better than the second season.

  • Yeah, I mean I'm excited but not as excited as how I was before the release of Season 2. I'll never forgive Sean Vanaman for leaving Telltale, which made Season 2 to be a let down, because he is the reason The Walking Dead is Telltale's best season. I still have hope for Season 3, but if they make the same mistakes again, then this will be just a waste of time.

Seeing as I have to wait a year to get a One to play this game, my excitement meter went from off the charts to zero in a blink of an eye.

  • I get that not having the rewind is annoying, but do you HAVE to keep bringing it up?

  • Hype culture is stupid and you didn't have to be a rocket scientist understand the second season of The Walking Dead would never receive the same praise as the first one. It could be the best written game in the world and most of the fan base would still probably prefer the first season. It's just simple logic that when a game gathers a huge fan base and they make a sequel that in some ways is different from the original, that the people that loved the first game will not have the same cult like love for the second game.

  • It's the name of my dad's old band and I thought it was pretty cool lmao

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not as hyped as I was for last season's premiere. S2 was good, but I don't think anything will be able to top S1.

I personally don't mind the new art style or the characters... For me, the change came from me realising that your choices don't really matter. Yes, the story is great and the characters are great and Telltale really knows how to make an ending... but the choices are something we agonise over and something that Telltale stresses on so much and for it to have such little impact is a big let down for me. I just can't let that go.

Even though Telltale has come up with a fancy story generator and what not, deep down I feel it's not really going to make much a difference... a situation might come up once or twice in the season, and the Clem from cluster so and so might say A, another might say B etc. I don't think it will have a large impact on Clem as a person.

I know I'm going to like S3, but I'm a lot more realistic and grounded with my expectations this time around and hence not as hyped as before

  • I'm learned to keep my hype down, especially with Telltale games, because a lot of the time it's led to disappointment.

  • I'm excited to fuck, but tbh the only reason I am is because of fucking Clem

    Yeah, I don't know...

I really want to be hyped, but I'm just...not.

Like, I'm looking forward to playing it, but I could totally bear to wait another month or so.

I guess it's because hardly anyone from the old cast is in it. The characters have always been what made the game for me, and without some familiar faces, I just don't have reason to be as excited as I'd like to be.

(Though, in all honesty, I'm probably gonna be flipping the fuck out the moment the game unlocks at midnight on Monday. So, this entire post will be completely invalid.)

  • I'am so HYPED i cannot wait on Tuesday :D

  • Long time player of the walking dead been playing since season 1 and hopefully after my teams disappointed results it should cheer me up

  • Your comments start tho lol

I'm excited to fuck, but tbh the only reason I am is because of fucking Clem

  • Honestly, I think that they made a big mistake by killing or making disappear every main character during Season 2 (Luke, Pete, Nick, Mike...). I enjoy that at least some of the characters can last for at least two seasons. This isn't the case with A New Frontier.

Yes, I'm looking forward to the game, but I don't think it was a smart move to get rid of all the characters that she met during the second season.

    Meh...

I mean... what as a fan of the game since 2012 am I supposed to look forward to in this game? Characters from previous seasons just disappeared, and all that time we spent raising Clem gone down the drain.
The core of the gameplay aka choices might even get worse from now on... (in most recent games, they are just focused on what is the right choice instead of you, as a player, being fucked over by either one ,"50/50 choice picking") and now (just realized) that they are adding comic book/TV show characters in the game because... fan-baiting...are they losing money? Why would they do this?

Oh how the mighty have fallen so...

  • Mostly my hype is just intense trepidation. I haven't fully enjoyed a Telltale game since TWAU, each successive game has been an increasing let down. So much so that I swore off ever playing a Telltale game until all episodes are released.

But this game gives me my Clem, and I'm not gonna not play it as soon as its available. so while im nervous about it, Im really excited to interact with my Sweet Pea again.

  • I hyped because of new characters like javier.

  • Mostly worried.

The trailer we've seen was very action oriented. And while this, in and of itself, isn't an issue, it's the fact that this is a story based game. The trailer for Amid The Ruins, interestingly enough my least favourite episode from a gameplay perspective, is an example of a trailer I find much more inkeeping.

Yes, there is action, but it's slower paced. And most the trailer is devoted to this slow, plodding world the characters live in. And that bit at the end is so wonderful :

    "Hey. Are you okay?"

    "... No."

Because it shows how Clementine is starting to crack as time wears on. None of the trailers for A New Frontier have had that effect on me. I feel too much action is really boring. And A New Frontier really hits you over the head with it. A car flipping over, Clementine sprinting with a shotgun and firing at walkers (Which is ridiculous, but ya know.), smoke, explosions! Excitement (!). Wheeee...

I dunno, what I loved about The Walking Dead was how the action scenes were just so well earned, in my opinion. In No Time Left, the scene with the herd was just incredible. Lee cutting his way through, the stunning music in the background as the player got closer and closer to our objective - the Marsh House. Moments like that are defining. But, from what we've seen, A New Frontier seems to be aiming for more of those "Woah, that's awesome!" moments, rather than the "Oh, no. No, no no no no!" moments which had me tearing up.

Maybe the trailers are deceiving. I don't know. All I know is, come Tuesday, I'm going to be very very nervous when I boot up the new Walking Dead Game. And that's not something I want to feel, really. I want to be excited to dive back into the world, to be immersed in this hauntingly beautiful apocalyptic universe the characters live in. Not fretting over whether or not the game'll make me care. I dunno, maybe I'm being melodramatic.

  • This is the first TellTale game that's being released where i'm already a fan ahead of it being released. (I caught up quickly) so yeah, i'm excited.

  • Every character looks way to plastic and they look wet all the time. It feels "overdeveloped".

  • I've felt the same way for quite a while, but the most recent screenshots kinda piqued my interest. You can guess why.

  • I'm not because it looks and feels like season 2 and the Michonne miniseries.
