  • Okay, so initial thoughts on the first episode:

Is it me or do the characters lip-synching really not line up at times? And Javier, and occasionally other characters, has some really weird facial expressions at times. The scene at the junkyard in the morning is where this was kinda hard to ignore.

I have another legitimate criticism with the game: the motion capture or whatever that exact quality is called. It seems like there are times where the speed of character’s movements to line up with what’s supposed to be conveyed. One key example is when Clementine gets pinned against the gates of Prescott by a walker: I know it’s the bullets not working like they’re supposed to leaving her wide open for a walker to rush her, but it moves so slowly that it looks like Clementine is about to start waltzing with the thing when she puts her guard up.

I will say that, while the backstory they showed in the teaser could’ve been a little better outside of Javier talking to his brother, I really do like the dynamic between him and his group, as well as with Clementine.

Not gonna lie…but when Clementine was eased onto the screen after speaking off of it, I was smirking like a hedgehog. I don’t know what it was but I really digged how she was handled in the episode. Though objectively, I should be raising an eyebrow at how quick she resorted to trying to cover up what she did to that black market guy in the bar.

What did they do to Kenny?! :O_O: He looks like Whodunit! Also, I love how it looks like his crash dummy is being attacked there. I sorta get the irony of how that happened, but I think something was missing. Maybe it was an actual connection with him or something. And is it me or does he sound different?

Looks like Jane took a trip back through the uncanny valley because she looks barely more uncanny than she did before. Also, I love how her head looks like it doesn’t belong on her body. Then, Mood Whiplash! This is gonna sound very horrible of me but I legitimately fought the urge to just …bust out laughing when I saw THAT happen. I said it before numerous times in reference to things involving her and I’ll say it again: there are ways of doing this type of thing in a way that not only makes sense but isn’t tasteless on the outset. You-You You can’t just …THROW something like that at us so fast and expect us to not react a certain way. I didn’t help that the dialogue beforehand was a little on the clunky side.

And Baby AJ is clearly a bad render of his Season 2 model with new eyes implanted.
