[EDIT: Refers to the game bought from the Windows 10 STORE!!] A heads-up for Windows 10 players...

edited December 2016 in The Walking Dead

EDIT: According to the mods OzzyUK and Blind Sniper, "by Windows 10 they are referring to the Windows 10 Store version and not the Steam/TTG version so you should be able to import your old choices as normal." Sorry for the confusion and thanks for clearing that up, guys!

This site should help, which I linked before

Here's where you can upload your save from Steam

After following the above directions, you should be able to see the following if you bought the game on Steam under "Steam PC":

Kevin Bruner also said they'd have a video out explaining how to import saves properly too.

That’s it! We have a video coming out that will also walk people through how to do this in detail. We’ll let you know when that’s available. You can share that too!

Phew!

Original thread:

It looks like you can play A New Frontier on Windows 10, but you can't load your old saves if you played your past games on Windows 10. We're gonna have to use the generator instead...

  • Isn't it like, everyone who uses Windows uses Windows 10 now?

Only people who stopped caring. I was very careful to order my desktop PC with Windows 7 when it was available.

  • Well I was referring to how Microsoft had the free upgrade to Windows 10 for a number of months. I just assumed most everyone would go for it, as that's what most people I knew did.

  • Lol whoops :p yeah my new comp came with it so actually I had never upgraded myself. But I've only ever heard people were happy with it (guess that changes now eep) Still my comp runs Telltale's games really well for me (although haven't tried Batman yet, I'm kind of scared to haha.)

    WAT!!??!?!

WAT YOU SAY?! What should i do? Jesus are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?

Disappointing because I just re-completed both seasons on my Windows 10 leading up to the release of New Frontier for the sole purpose of importing the saves. On the bright side, it gives me a fresh perspective for when I have to generate a save. Still, absurd that this complication is even an issue.

  • Can I upload my saves to my telltale account and do it that way?

  • That's bullshit!

  • After reading this again and again, I have finally come to the conclusion that even if I try to use the telltale account system, I will be completely and utterly fucked.

  • edited December 2016

    ... I hate telltale now!

    Edit:
I so hope I misunderstand this

  • Well on the bright side there will probably be a fix in about a month.

On the down side of this is that it is in about a month if they fix it D:

Well on the bright side there will probably be a fix in about a month.

  • All of this aside does anyone have any idea if this means I can import my saves through the website or wont it work?

  • this is actaully hilarious! was there ever a single piece of news for season 3 that didnt completely disapoint players? i dont think so.

  • Okay, okay. Evreyone calm the fuck down!

I just did it. I link my Steam acoount to Telltale, and now my saves in Telltale Cloud. It's been work in S3 now??!

It is written there " a Telltale account can be used to continue an existing story." My saves now will work??

  • Uhm, WTF!?!? I can't believe this...

  • Oh shit, im so fucking pissed of right now. And i read this

"ONLY save data imported from ANOTHER platform"

Fuck fuck it, fucking fuck, it can be use saves only from other platforms ACROSS telltale account, saves from Win10 DON'T WILL WORK ANYWAY.

This is it, i reach my boiling point.

I finished Season 2 on my Laptop who had Windows 8. I installed Walking Dead Season 2 on my PC who have Window 10. Now, I haven't touch the game, besides briefly opening it. Does that mean my saves are now Window 10 or still Window 8? Rather confusing business.

  • I don't want a " RECREATE STORY" i have a beautiful save's with MY CANON choices. GIVE IT TO ME.

    I CAN'T HANDLE WITH IT!!

    enter image description here

  • Its completely fine I am 99% sure that is a miss spell from telltale.

I hope it is! And if it's not, I hope we AT LEAST get an explanation!

What. Are they serious? How could this happen?

  • I don't really care about an explanation I just want it to work :(

Does anyone know who would be the right person to ask for a clarification? I just sent a tweet to Job Stauffer and Laura Perusco, but I don't know if they are the ones I should have asked...

  • It's Telltale, we won't get an explanation. Only silence.

  • If you do get a reply post it here please.

Guys keep in mind that we can play A New Frontier on Windows 10, it's just that we can't upload our old saves if we played S1/S2 on Windows 10. One good thing is if you played S1/S2 on a different device (a device that wasn't a Windows 10 PC), for most devices you should be able to upload those saves to A New Frontier on Windows 10 and play from there. Again check here for more clarification.

Mostly I'm just bummed we can't load our saves, but otherwise we can use the generator to make a new playthrough and we should still be able to play "A New Frontier" fine otherwise.

Just a heads up, by Windows 10 they are referring to the Windows 10 Store version and not the Steam/TTG version so you should be able to import your old choices as normal.

  • edited December 2016

Oh yeah I got that too!

    enter image description here

Go here to do it for anyone interested.

I think that should work when we get A New Frontier...

I think OzzyUK is right, below.

We have asked about this; they meant the Windows 10 Store version.

Edit; Beat to the punch by Ozzy

  • One of the many false alarms right here guys :)

  • I'm glad the mods cleared it up. Personally I wanted to ask because otherwise I would've been lost on what to do tomorrow (I bet others probably would've been too.) So thanks @OzzyUK and @Blind Sniper!
