What do you think of season 3 so far?

  • It's interesting. Which is ok. Too early for love or hate.

  • I like it so far. While I was only miffed at one scene (you guys all know the scene), I wasn't as angry about it as everyone else. I found it kind of funny that those couple years of fighting were all in vain, people were banned over going to far in the arguments, and it amounted to nothing (yes, it is kind of horrible, but it's funny when you look at it from a bystander's view).

This marks my departure from the Telltale games. Episode two took me a whooping 45 minutes to complete. Honestly, they should reduce the price for their season pass to 10-15 bucks, because there is just so little content. To the game itself: I'm shocked that they decided to turn Clementine into a stereotype, cut the flashbacks down to 5 minute jokes, and apparently stopped trying to give us the illusion of choice during dialogue.

"We need to go back and bury Francine!"
"We need to go to Richmond."
    "Yeah. Fuck it. Let's go."

What? Where did that come from?

    "Lower your guns"
    "Javi, man, don't do that"
    "Do you trust me?"

You've known each other for 5 minutes! What the hell!

    "Get Out"
    "You're stuck with me"
-> Clementine runs and holds the door while the bald chick barricades it
"I'd say we make a pretty good team."

    What? Why? How? When?

The whole writing is just lazy. It's bland and generic and lacks the strong emotions and distinctive voice of the first two seasons. Over and out. I loved season one and season two. Thank you for the journey, that's it for me with Telltale's TWD.

  • All of the above. I have mixed feelings about this season. There were things that I loved, liked, disliked and hated but was also disappointed in some cases, so... But it still has my interest.

  • Love it.

I don't like a certain scene with a certain someone, but overall, I think this is a good season so far.

Javier is interesting and really fun to play as, Clementine is a great supporting character, the choices are intense and have some serious weight, and the cast is very likeable.

I think this is gonna turn out to be one of Telltale's best Walking Dead games.

  • I like it. Kinda disappointed about the ending of Episode 2 and the reveal of the leader, but it made sense for the story. The new characters are strong and I like the family themes, and overall the presentation is great. The graphics are beautiful and the voice acting is pretty good.

But what upsets me the most is that Telltale split Episode 1 into Episode 1 AND 2. Seriously? Since when is 2 hours supposed to considered long? And why aren't we getting an Episode 6 to make up for this? Minecraft Story Mode got an Adventure Pass so I really hope Telltale fixes everything up and adds at least one more episode to the season.

Otherwise I do have high hopes for the season since I really enjoyed Ties that Bind. I just want longer episodes (at least two hours like Season One got at some points) and more Clem.

  • It's ok. I was supposed to be so excited about it but I'm not

  • Disappointed and on the fence, but generally leaning more on the positive side after playing it for myself.

  • I like it, there is a lot of great stuff here that people are choosing to ignore because they want to focus solely on how our endings were handled. Now don't get me wrong, we should acknowledge how lazily Telltale treated them and that they honestly should have tried much harder with them, but we can't let it completely blind us to what was done well. Overall, the first two episodes were great, and I am still looking forward to the rest of the season.

  • Love: Clem, my little sweet pea is fucking harsh

Like: Javi, Kate, Mari, Tripp, Max and Gabe (as long as he keeps himself from at arms length with Clem at all times).

Hated: Jane/Kenny deaths, such fucking bullshit

In the end I enjoyed it, it had some warts for sure but I'm on board this train still

  • Yes, it was pretty well done

I like it, there is a lot of great stuff here that people are choosing to ignore because they want to focus solely on how our endings were h

  • Love it. Only down side is we see Hector for one part that is it.

  • I love it. Clem's a badass, Javi is a great character and I like where they are going with the story. My biggest complaint would be the lack of playable Clem (don't get me wrong, I'm greatful we get to play her at all) but 5 minutes an episode is not enough for me; if the flashbacks where longer than they are, then I really wouldn't have any complaints about the game, so far.

Clem really is better as a secondary supporting character much like she was in the first season but you're right about her being a stereotype now. After making my Clem in season 2 "good"-as close as she was to her season 1 self as possible anyway-then seeing her now the way she is in TNF makes me feel like my season 2 choices for Clem were pointless. And her shooting that one guy to make a point felt really out of her character to me and I almost didn't side with her and probably would not have if I didn't know her.

  • The problem is that once you give the players control over Clementine, you can't take it away form them without making Clementine feel like a different character. They either shouldn't have given us control over her in the first place or made her the protagonist of this game as well. The way it is now, it is inconsistent and makes the character feel like a stranger.

Agreed with this, if he goes anywhere near my Clem, I will cut his fucking balls off.

  • Ehh...regarding how Javier quickly warms up to Clem for no real reason is no different than Rebecca out of nowhere warming up to Clem in S2 Ep.2 so I can't agree S2 was any better.

  • Loved it. The endings of season 2 were handled pretty bad and the episodes are not that long, true, but I still think they were great overall.

  • Loved it. Episode 1 was FANTASTIC, and episode 2 was pretty good, but as a whole package I REALLY enjoyed it

  • It was alright. I'm just not as attached to these characters as I was in S1 or S2.

  • Extremely disappointed. Clem seems like such a minor character now, and I couldn't get myself bothered to care enough about these new characters to pick a response. Spent most of the first two episodes watching the game.

  • Love it

Javier seems like he could be a good character to play as and the story so far (except for every flashback) is really good

  • Besides having to say goodbye to Kenny? Love it.

  • Love it, and apparently so do most of the critical reviews.

Side note: I always knew the alone with AJ ending was the right choice. At least Jane is alive... somewhere...probably... in my playthrough.

  • I enjoyed it very much. It was a nice playthrough and it was good. Perfect? Far from it. But the amount of hate its getting a little unjust to me.

    It's a good game.

  • I like it, I expected worse with it being a new protagonist but I was honestly surprised and impressed.
But like everyone else, My problems were with how shitty the Kenny/Jane death were handled and how short the episodes were
But besides that. I liked it and i expect good from it.

  • TBH I'm pretty meh about the beginning so far. As someone who's been following this series pretty much since episode 1 came out and enjoyed both seasons 1 and 2 a lot, this feels a lot like a departure from that and entering into Javi's story. I feel like if they took Clem out and made a separate season from the main ones with just Javier this would've been a much better experience for me. I hope they integrate Clem more into the story and let us play as her in the present time instead of just in flashbacks (seriously, what happened to the whole #myclementine at the end of season 2? Watching her just shoot up people without even them being a threat to her is nothing what I would do if I were in control of her, and is kind of annoying as someone who's been wanting to continue Clem's story. Not start up a new one.)

Overall though I don't feel like it was a waste of my time, but god I wish they went in the direction they were going at the end of season 2 rather than an entirely new one out of pretty much nowhere.

  • Gabe (as long as he keeps himself from at arms length with Clem at all times).

Whenever Gabe goes over to Clem:

    enter image description here

    Javier, neuter your nephew.

  • Personally, I have extremely Mixed feelings towards season 3 thus far. I Enjoyed the majority of the new characters that have been introduced. Javier and Kate, in particular, have had some good moments. And Clearly Telltale are building towards something interesting in regards to Clementine's story.

Though Telltale's writing this season has been too predictable and to some extent lazy. For one we still have an illusion of choice, which makes me sad. I was hoping the two-year gap would mean more in regards to choices having an impact in this game.
Secondly, Almost every quiet or interesting moment is interrupted by a horde of zombies or groups of human attackers that honestly lack a compelling motive.
Forcing us to travel from one settlement to another, with a group that constantly bicker and offer contrasting opinions in a bid to add tension. Which is getting rather repetitive. Overall I thought it was okay. Though sadly I don't feel the same excitement for this season as I did prior to playing these two episodes. But Here's hoping it's building towards something great.

Ditto. It was very sad saying goodbye to Kenny. I knew it was inevitable, though, so I'm not outraged.

LOVE: Hands down, getting to play a continuation of Clementine's story. I'm fascinated to see what she's like at this point in her life, and to see where all of this is headed for her. Also, hearing that main Walking Dead theme again - the "sad" one - when she introduces herself to Javier. Got me in the feels. The weight of all the stuff she's gone through that we've already seen - and what we still don't know about yet - hit me in that moment. I'm not surprised that she's trying to be as tough as she can now.

LIKE: Javier. He's different enough from Lee and Clementine to make him interesting. Also......... as a huge Mass Effect fan, it was great to hear Brandon Keener (aka Garrus) as "Jesus". Hopefully he'll be around for a while.

DISLIKE: Some "meh" side characters so far - like Kate, Conrad, Eleanor - especially knowing they're probably going to die. lol.

    I loved it.

Javier's pretty cool after learning a bit about him, and the interactions with his family and Clem make him really likeable.

Oh, and seeing Clem being the little bad-ass we practically raised from the start was awesome.

I just generally don't see any point in sweating over the small stuff. I enjoyed it and I can't wait for more.

  • A few feelings I had right after finishing the two episodes...

    • Episode one had a good length and pacing to it. It didn't feel too long or too short. Episode 2 on the other hand felt extremely short.
    • It seems like a lot of people found the cliffhangers at the end of both episodes underwhelming, but I was personally satisfied with both of them.
    • The graphics were really beautiful, but I felt that they could of done better with Jane & Kenny's models.
    • It would of been nice to play more as Clem, but the rough and tough attitude that Telltale gave her is exactly how I was planning on playing my Clementine. So, since I felt that they captured who I wanted my Clementine to be, I wasn't too upset at the lack of Clem gameplay. I can understand why others might be upset, however.
    • Kenny's death in my playthrough made me feel sad, but I wasn't heartbroken since I knew at some point he was definitely going to bite the dust due to him being a determined character in season 2. Knowing Kenny was going to most likely die during a flashback took a little bit of the emotional impact away from the scene for me since I was already expecting it.
  • I don't know. I'm extremely EXTREMELY upset with having to say goodbye to Kenny, but he went out in character, as a hero.

    Pros:

I like Javier so far. Like someone mentioned, different from Lee & Clem. He's a likeable guy, better than I expected.

Clementine!!! She's so cute and how much my Clem has been hardened after Lee & Kenny really shows and I do think that's one good thing Telltale has done so far is showing how much of a toll this world has taken on her.

Bringing back to Q button mashing. That's something I don't recall having at all in Batman. Nice to see it back.

So far, Jesus has been pretty well handled.

    The graphics are SO BEAUTIFUL!!

    Cons:

Kenny and Jane. The only good thing that has come out of this is seeing Kenny happy, and the way Kenny died, saving Clem and AJ. A minute and a half with a character I've become so attached to over the last few years is a stab in the heart. Seeing Kenny and having him ripped away so fast is equal if not worse than Lee's death. I want to give a grand FUCK YOU to Telltale for pulling this shit once again and disregarding everyone who had become attached to Kenny and Jane. Season 2 all built up to being with Kenny, Jane, or alone. We had roughly 9 hours that led up to this big final choice, and both Kenny and Jane get 90 second cut scenes and are yanked away from us. Seriously Telltale, suck my dick for that one.

I really do not care for Gabe at all. And he's going near Clem too? He's dying first chance I get.

Clementine and (kinda) Javier are really the only alive characters I care for right now.

    SHORT! TOO FUCKING SHORT!

    So yeah, that's my piece.

Pretty disappointed, and yes, Kenny and Jane part is important, but thats not the only reason why.

First getting out the season 2 endings. They were completely worthless, Telltale didnt even try, instead they kill Kenny, Jane and even Edith. Also side note, wasnt the whole fucking deal in the first place about Wellington that they would give out supplies? How come now they arnt, which is why the people attacked. So what, it doesnt look like they are low on supplies and its never mentioned. Anyway, Kenny's death is extremly stupid, Clem apparently spins out on (Ice?) as she is going completely straight. Then cuasing Kenny to fly out and whoopsies now theres a million walkers, iconic character dead. Took 'em 2 years to think of that. Followed by now Jane, who's whole motivation from season 2 was to have Clem leave with her, only to do nothing but commit suicide because she's prego. Why? I know Jane doesnt want a baby, but you think she would have tried a little harder when she was messing around with Luke to make sure that wouldnt happen. And even if she didnt, you telling me she was risking that if she was going to just kill herself if she did become pregnant?

Now, onto the main story. Everyone is unlikable, and everyone who was likable surprise surprise, dies. The only characters I can say I really like are Javier, Kate, and Tripp. Gabe is already pulling the annoying kid who cant do anything card, Elanor is just there, as well as Jesus. Conrad's character flip flops like crazy, until I decided to just kill him. (Not seeing it will matter in anyway seeing he will just die anyway) David being revealed for me was pretty predictable, the moment they wouldnt confirm if he was dead or not. And its also far fetched and a reach, it may even be as far fetched as Kennys return in season 2. With Kenny's return atleast he was just in a group, but you telling me after Javier leaves David and takes his family he goes to Richmond and becomes the leader of some evil group?

Next, Clem. Clem feel shoehorned in. Also, I dont really like her that much. Like, shes fine and I do like her alot, but she just feels so different. And she just feels like she is just there and nothing else. I feel like the story could probably work just as well if she wasnt there and A New Frontier really was just "A New Frontier" not some fake season 3 where everything we did in the past seasons does not matter at all.

Also, theres been alot of "SHOCK VALUE" stuff happening. For one, I hate how they killed Mari. She was becoming such a great character, and they just Michonne'd her with a cop out shock value death. It was the same shit aswell. Shot in the back of the head when we dont expect it, then we bury them and everything.

And one more thing, like I mentioned with the Kenny death, Im sick of the plot walkers. They crash, NOW theres walkers. We clear the way? WALKERS. Also, why was there like 100 people in a train tunnel who died. What happened? Why are they there? There was no sign that it was a camp, so is there a real reason, or is just for plot.

All in all, Im honestly really disappointed. It makes me really regret and feel like a fool saying things back in the day with threads talking about how "Kenny and Jane will just die the first 5 mins they appear in season 3."

Sadly, Im going to have to give it a 6/10 so far. I just really hope the next episodes get better.
