So, did you not play previous Seasons or
At least it over for her fast.
I actually really liked her and then,,, wow
I liked her, she seemed sweet but also capable of doing things. I feel like some may call her plain but in my opinion she and Kate were my two favorites from the Garcia family. I sorta expected it though, she was the least advertised out of everyone in her family and the tombstone screenshot made me think it was probably her.
Yeah, I actually liked her character. Out of the new group she and the stepmom were my favorite. I also thought Mariana and Clem would be cool together even if they werent friends it would have been nice to see how the two would have gotten along. Telltale needs to learn that yes, in a series like this people are expected to die, but jesus let them develop their characters properly first and have their deaths make sense. I mean when it comes to shock death, Carleys was done right. I get why Carley was shot and killed by Lily even though it was fucked up that she died like that. But just randomly shooting people and killing them off like flies is just....yikes.
Well with Duck you didn't see it, and sarah you really just saw another angle but she was 15 not like.. 11.. And with Mari you clearly saw her head explode
Next up is Gabe.
That's life. Not everyone gets their last dramatic struggle.
No! he needs to kiss Clem!
She wasn't 11, she was 10. I thought she was older until Javy said it.
It wouldn't be Telltale if they didn't crush our souls by killing off genuine characters. BLOODY MONSTERS
Honestly her death got me good. Or, em, bad.
I do think Telltales intentions were to make her look, or parallel Clementine. Nice girl, seemed to take care of herself well in this world, valued things (the cassette player) like Clem does (her hat). Not to mention they look rather similar and are around the same age.
The, bam. In less than a second she's dead. Goes to show no one is safe, even someone exactly like Clementine. I feel like Telltale was trying to say that Clem could go just as fast any second (even though she has plot armor, it's still a nice touch.)
This is Sarah from The Last of Us all over again
"Oh. A teenage girl in my care who seems pretty cool and leaves an impression on me in the little time I've known h...... aaaaand she's dead."
YOU'RE NOT TUGGING AT MY HEART STRINGS ANYMORE TELLTALE! YOU'RE RIPPING THEM OUT FORCEFULLY AND DANGLING THEM IN FRONT OF MY VERY EYES!
Same. Especially with the boner and period jokes.
I was just beginning to like her. Then BANG!!!!!! They thought like "No, we don't want this girl have screentime for the later episodes. Forgot what happened to Sarah? She did nothing useful so Mariana needs a fate so the players won't worry about her anymore". Fucking assholes.
Don't you effing dare
There needs to be an option for me to chuck a battery at his head of he even thinks about getting fresh with Clem.
10?! Wow, with how intelligent and well-spoken she was I was thinking she was 14/15.
Her death reminded me of a certain comic character.
Cheap emotional impact, shock value, wasting likeable and decent characters and keeping the awful ones alive, bad writing.
Classic TWDG post-season 1.
Except it's not. It's a videogame.
I wanted to swallow blades when I heard the period joke.
I don't get periods so I wouldn't know.
I was playing that and like "aw what a sweet character she will be" then boom and (episode 2 spoilers ahead) I wonder how David will react knowing his people killed his daughter.
I was sure she was going to die. Her relationship with Javi was just waaay too perfect. It was just a matter of "When", and when they started to take way too long to leave the junkyard and they started to talk about how everything was going fine and stuff I said "Okay that's it".
After Season 2 and A Game of Thrones, I'm used to it. It is just for shock value, but since it is just too predictable now, it can't really shock me anymore.
Underwear doesn't grow on trees.
Definitely caught me off guard. Not sure I was supposed to laugh though, but that came outta nowhere lol
Same! The only thing that got me is the ending of episode 2!
I grew attached to Marianna quite quickly. She was so sweet and pure, and her relationship with Javier was so nice to see. Too much so for the world she lived in. No one is safe, no matter how hard you try to protect them. The world doesn't care who you are.
My mouth was agape for awhile after her getting shot. As far as a shock value death goes, hers wasn't bad in my opinion. It...It impacted me. Her living on to become developed more wouldn't have been a bad option, either. Her death felt appropriate though. I hope there won't be too many shock value deaths after this one, however. With too many being thrown at you, you can't help but feel various character-building opportunities were wasted. They're also more effective when kept to a minimum, at least in my opinion. Too much shock and it's no longer shocking.

Stolen right from Blind's post
I had a really bad feeling in my chest in that scene. I knew deep down something was off. I was just hoping Mariana was going to hug Javier and walk off into the sun set, and then she got her brains blown out. I was in my heart anticipating it, but it still shocked me. For the next 20-30 minutes I was just contemplating why anyone would kill a little girl like that.
And then after I saw David at the end of Episode 2 I just started thinking of how angry he would after learning that.
...What?
I'll shoot him myself
wtf is with everyone shipping Clem with other people this needs to stop asap
Dude do you know what a period is? You bleed like, a lot.
No! Shut up!
Oh, are you jealous?
A new ship!
Clem x XgendaNceS.
Oooh....the money metaphor! Okay, my bad.
To be fair, the average teenager in these games is, like, 10-13 anyway so the misunderstanding is perfectly reasonable.
This was a bit different though. Marinara or whoever she is was offed pretty unceremoniously. It's not unprecedented (Sarah's death comes to mind) but still.
At least she got extensive reactions and a proper wake; Sarah didn't get either.
