Sort of a detail but kind of a theory. I think AJ is in Richmond. Clementine clearly doesn't have Aj with her. She couldn't have left him "near by" because she travels too much for that. I don't think he's dead. She clearly knows about The New Frontier and she knows about a good group being in Richmond. Okay, skip to a little later in the episode when you meet Jesus. Jesus mentions that Richmond was taken over by The New Frontier. Clementine actually lowers her gun a little (surprising, huh?)and says "What did you say?!" Jesus says "The New Frontier took over, you didn't know that?" Clem's face turns sick and she completely lowers her gun. She can be seen walking off and the camera pans awful close to her face showing her breathing deep, as if she is trying to stop panicking. Is she panicking because Javier family is in danger? Doubt it. Not that she doesn't care, but I feel like she wouldn't be as troubled about it. I do think AJ is in Richmond where she left him with a group and she's worried that The New Frontier might have done something to him.
I thought she was panicking because she used to be apart of The New Frontier and doesn't want to be anywhere near them. She was scared she would be captured after having escaped and so she decided to leave Javier and the group (and I believe AJ is with the New Frontier after she escaped.) She probably had to leave him to get out
Okay, so then she could have just gone on her way. No one was forcing her to go to Richmond.
When she found one of the bodies at the shoot out she saw the 76 scar and the only thing she said was "shit." TNF was clearly in the area and she didn't panic. When they drove up to the gates, she was encouraging Javy to have a gun fight. She wasn't panicking like she did when they said TNF took over Richmond. Throughout the whole episodes she seemed tough as nails and ready to fight but the moment she heard they were in Richmond it's like her knees became weak and her stomach dropped.
He's now the leader of the new frontier

it seems like they could be setting up for a epic rescue scene I honestly hope so,
I like Javier and all but I feel like Clem is more important, it's like for 2 years we've been waiting to see Clem become the new Lee by taking care of AJ just to find out we could only use her in flashbacks and the baby is not even with her in present day smh

I agree with you. I too think that AJ is in Richmond.
Maybe if you let her go before you reach Richmond, she will try to sneak in undetected to see if she can grab AJ and get out of there before The New Frontier notices.

She actually says she was going to leave when she told Javi she was with the new frontier once. So she obviously didn't want to go back there. She even says "I can't go back" or something like that. So something happened there between her and them.
Which is why I don't think AJ is there. Why would she risk a war with him inside and put him in danger? It seems a bit weird to me.

Clem, said they used to be good. Now they're. somthing else. They got AJ killed some how. That's why Clem went all loner/scavenger.

The whole reason clem is trying to get back at the new frontier and why she left tells me they have them.

I was talking about when TNF drove up to prescott. She didn't panic when TNF showed up. So I don't think she's exactly terrified of them causing harm to her, per se, she's just caution and avoids them. But when she heard they're in Richmond so they could cause harm to AJ, that's when she panics.
It's still weird why she just left him there in the first place and is wandering on her own for a long time now (she even says that). I don't know, but I'm definitely curious to know what happened to him.
