Clementine Gameplay (ANF)

Look, I think Javier is a good character, he really is, but Clementine deserves equal amount of gameplay as he does.

I know Episode one was all about introducing Javier, that makes it acceptable to only have a small amount of gameplay for Clem. We needed to understand his character and how we're gonna make him develop, I get it.

But, in future episodes, Clementine must have equal gameplay to Javier, right? She might not mean much to new players, but it's fair to the people who've been there since season one to play as her equally to Javier because she's a very important character to a lot of people.

So please TellTale, give Clementine a ton more gameplay.

  • I've played both previous seasons and honestly? I like playing as Javier more.

  • I'd like too, she's definitely more capable now than she was in S2. Replaying the first episode after the disappointing experience that was my initial playthrough, I actually really enjoyed the interactions with Clem. I'll be a bit more clear minded after another playthrough of episode 2, but that really felt like a short, rushed episode with very little progressing between the characters. The flashbacks were just as horrible the second time around, but I'm really hoping as the next 3 episodes unfold they'll, if not giving her more of a role to play, at least make Clem an important character in the plot. Obviously in a different fashion, but similar to the way was prominent in the first season.

  • Agreed I feel like telltale are neglecting those who loved playing as Clementine in S2.

  • Why everybody wants to ruin Clem actual personality?
She is a lot more interesting that way, if we play her she would turn so bland like in S2.

Leave her character be. Unless you want to play as her because you like to feel like a little girl

  • I think it would be fun if we could switch off between Javier and Clementine In present time. Javier is a God character and alot of people love clementine so that would work out.

  • Speak for yourself bud.

  • As opposed to feeling like a black convicted murderer or a Latino baseball player? Lol. I think it's more about her fans wanting her involved as a central figure in the story.

    Urban*

And I don't understand what do you mean as central figure, if you want the whole game being about Clementine, they might as well create one of those Barbie games in which ones you can cut her hair, put her in pretty clothes, etc.
I don't see how in a zombie apocalypse the central topic can be a little girl, this is not the Sims.

in S1 she was her own character and nobody complained
You already got to play as her in S2.
What's the problem with her being her own character again? if you mean "She is not that important in the story", she was pretty important in Ep 1, if it wasn't for her Javier would be in the New Frontier base and his whole family would be dead, we just discover she was part of the New Frontier in Ep 2.

Maybe in Ep 3 we discover she has her own community and is the leader or something like that, the game just started, chill out.

  • If you're just going to be an ass, I don't really see the point in going back and forth. This isn't some grand tale, we're not going to fight the Walker king at the end of this story. You can stick to Game of Thrones for that. The comics have given no indication that they're sticking with Rick because he's going to superpower his way to a cure and save the world, that's not the kind of story they're telling. They've built on the story over time, focusing on the survival and transformation aspects of the character. The closest we got to a central story in this zombie apocalypse was Eugene, then it went right back to what it's always been.

She was essential in episode in so much as she was a character written to propel Javiers story, in a very replaceable manner which also conveniently severed nearly every other possible tie with the previous seasons. AGAIN, this is less about her being the sole playable character and more about following up the previous installment in a completely disconnected manner. If the rest of the season is the same quality as episode 2, I'm not optimistic.

  • So... you are angry because you can't ruin Clementine like we all did in S2, or because she isn't the queen of the Walkers in S3, and since she isn't she "doesn't have enough importance"?

  • To be honest... I am pretty disappointed that we get that less Clem to play. At the moment it seems more like she is just in it to have a forced tie to season 1 and 2. :(

I was really looking forward to play as an older Clementine.

  • We honestly deserve it because I know they worked hard on Javier but Clem is also a main character (to players of previous seasons at least)

  • I can agree. As much as I'm enjoying the story and Javier as a playable character, it's a shame Clementine's flashback segments have been tiny in comparison. I do hope later we get to control her more.

  • I agree with this 100%

  • I like playing as Clem more. :)

  • Yeah, hopefully. They better.

I expected enough to fill several cutscenes and a hub, given Telltales claims of player choice respect.

  • I like playing Javier more than I expected. When I first saw Javi together with Clem in screenshots, I was like "Nooooooooo" and "Hell no he gonna replace Jane", but I really like playing as him. More than Clementine I think
