Apparently, A New Frontier's reveal trailer isn't canon?

I read some tweets from Job J Stauffer and he said that the reveal trailer for the game isn't canon and we most likely won't see the scene in the game: http://www.keengamer.com/article/15301_a-new-frontiers-reveal-trailer-might-not-be-in-the-game

Do you think this is true or is he just saying that so we get more surprised when it actually happens?

  • At this point I'm going to take everything Telltale says with a grain of salt, regardless.

I thought it was fairly obvious that it wasn't going to be completely canon as they mainly used it to show the main characters along with the newer game engine, even Job said it was a look at the dynamics and what the art team where working on (bolded below) even before they released the trailer.

Hey friends! I wanted to pop on here to say hi, and on behalf of all of us, thank you all for continuing to make this community awesome. I know I don't hop on here as much as the rest of our team, but rest assured, we are always following along and are incredibly fueled by your excitement!

The team has been working so hard this year on a lot of things for our upcoming projects that are always difficult to talk about ahead of time because we're always at risk of spoiling the surprise of the story experience. That said, the writers and designers and everyone in the studio have really been keeping 3M in business going through miles and miles of sticky notes - and everyone has been planning a rich and complex story experience we really think you're going to enjoy. The art team has also been working overtime, and while we aren't going to be drastically overhauling anything and suddenly be shooting for hyper-photo realism... they've definitely upped the ante on details for a style that leans even further into a non-photo realistic, living comic book approach that you'll see in both The Walking Dead AND our upcoming BATMAN project.

Very cool things are afoot here, and we can't wait to show you! For those nervous about that schedule, I can confirm, yes, we'll be there at 3pm PT - IGN has yet to update the schedule on their end. I should say that what's in store is just a teaser... a small morsel of something we've been working on - but it's a first look at the dynamics at play here for the next season, as well as a first glimpse at what the art team has been working on. We really hope you'll like it! It's not often we ever have something like this ready to show you this far ahead of a premiere, but you've all been super awesome, and even though this will be all over the internet --- we consider this one just for you. ;P

Thanks again for being awesome, and thanks again for keeping the whole team rallied by your excitement. Our fans mean the world to us, and in addition to working our hardest on great stories for you to play, we're also working hard this year on overhauling a lot of our community experience as well for things happening both here on our site, and even in the games themselves. It's a big year for Telltale, and we wouldn't be here doing this without you.

It's super late here in CA, but as we head into E3 next week and closer to two series premiering later this year ---- we just wanted to say.... THANKS!

Always reading, always watching. Thanks for being awesome!

I think they just used it to show Clementine, Javier and the New Frontier/capricorn brand/mark to get people talking about the game.

  • Well, it worked :D

I was literally so hyped for the 6 months since the reveal trailer and now the game is released, I am not disappointed. I loved the first two episodes (except for the flashbacks) and I feel like the rest of the season should be good as well. The episodes just need to be a bit longer.

  • Figured that when Javier had a mark and Clementine didn't, not to mention the lack of facial hair.

  • Many people thought that when Javier got captured, they could of given him the mark and shaved his facial hair.

  • Perhaps. Time would've told.

  • I figured it wasn't, just like how the Tales from the Borderlands reveal trailer wasn't canon.

  • I havn't played Tales from the Borderlands. I am trying to complete Borderlands 2 and the pre sequel before I play it so the story isn't ruined for me.

It's only 2 days after the premiere and its already turning into a goddamned mess of a season.

People will be yearning to go back to the season 2 days before long.

  • Not me, fuck season 2 in the ear...already liking this season better.

  • Haha... well I can understand why you in particular wouldn't want to go back to season 2...

  • I actually really enjoyed Season 2. For me, I liked it better than Season 1.

  • I enjoyed it as well. It was different than season 1 somehow, I can't quite place it, but I loved both seasons.
