why was it so short?
First of all, i was extremely disappointed at this, i expected shitty descisions and the last game not really mattering but come on, they had more than enough time to do this and it looks like they were just like "oh we'll just kill kenny off and thats that, you wasted $24 only to see a flashback" and dont even get me started on how short the episode was, the first episode of season 1 had more personality, length and likeable people just judging by one person than this episode had in everyone, i didnt even care when the girl got shot, or when kate did, gabe is pretty cool though.
And what the heck is with clementime, shes alright but she just seems like a new person with some catchphrases thrown in to appeal to the older fans.
Episode 1 was only 47 minutes for me how bout yall? (For xbox if you go to achivements you can see how long you played and i only played one episode)
Comments
From what i understand the episodes are shorter because they are trying to make them more "episodic" like a TV show.
Because if I sit on the couch playing for more than 80 minutes my lungs and motor skills will, as Carlos would say, ceases to function. Telltale doesn't want that so they make 70 minute episodes for the price of 120 minutes. They just care.
It works out good for them. Shorter episodes, less time needed to work on for the same amount of profit as if they were a hour

Because they decided not to add longer moments of character interactions throughout the episode and pretty much scrapped puzzles?
Because:

I noticed that someone on YouTube ran through it in 47 minutes as well. I'm surprised people have still been defending things like the episode length.
Source for the 47 minute playthrough?
Um? Play it yourself and see? Trust me i completed episode 2 in just over 45 minutes and that is a disgrace. This game costs the same amount as season 1 and we are getting shafted for it.
I know you like it and all but some of us are not feeling fairly treated by Telltale. 2 years they have had to work on this game and they go and do this...
I don't really understand what was "too long" about it, the two episodes combined lasts for 2h at best. Even less why they decided to split the episode in two parts.
With how short both episodes are, you could realistically put them together. The episode lengths are what gave Seasons 1 it's credibility. There was more content with very high quality value.
Now it seems like the opposite. Or at least depending on how you view it anyway. My guess is that the writers are responsible with how short the episodes are or with how Season 3 was marketed to be as short as possible.
Because they lost creativity a long time ago
I can attest to this
One time I played a game for 90 minutes... and my leg starting feeling tingly!
It was so horrifying, I thought I was going to die
Yeah I finished episode 2 in 60 minutes. I can see myself playing it in 45 had I rushed.
They haven't got the passion and drive they had when they started the walking dead season 1. they're so big now on trying to release episodes quickly and make multiple games at once, that it's effecting the overall quality of the game. Season 1 episodes were released every 2 months, borderlands took almost a year to be completed. My opinion is instead of announcing more games, focus one 1 game then start a new game. what made season 1 so great waas it was the only game being made at the time, they put all their effort and focus in 1 game.
I mean if their definition of "too long" are these two episodes, I don't want to know what is short to them.
Damn right
-10 minutes.
And they're all gonna be this short btw
6 chapters = just about 60 minutes
S1 and 2 had 12 chapters = around 120 mins
I wonder if we'll ever get the 2H+ long episodes Season 1 had. One can dream I guess.
Those goddamn writers they wish they died on ****** before I get my fucking hands on them- Kenny 2012
All I wanted was a source. Sorry?
1 death per minute
That's ok, i just think if you are asking for a source i wonder why if you have already played it? Or haven't you? You can also watch peoples live streams or play throughs on youtube
Because they wanted to pull a wolf among us final on us
Tales from the Borderlands had 6 chapters per Episode as well. So it really doesn't say much.
The episodes were REALLY short. But I also feel there is another element at play here. Back in season 1, each episode felt like a complete chapter. While being part of a larger story, each ep built to its own end and felt rewarding each time as it came to a close. It has been a long time since Telltale did that and I feel they've lost some control of the narrative and just end episodes pretty much wherever.
I would prefer longer, meatier episodes. But I probably wouldn't notice how short they were if they came to a cleaner conclusion, a rewarding finish and I had a sense of a natural break in the story.
Am I missing what makes these two parts of one units, rather than just two parts of the whole game?
I think the following episodes will be a bit longer. S2 Episodes were around 1.5h. I think and hope they'll catch up to that.
Already played through both episodes twice, and I didn't want to scavenge through youtube. I'll just take people's ability to speed run through a telltale game as a source because I got 70 minutes in episode 1 (rushing), and 60-ish minutes in episode 2.
Speak for yourselves I started foaming at first 20 minutes... and I watched it!
I was really surprised with Tales from the Borderlands' Episode lengths. Each were longer than 1hr30mins at least, going up to 2hr30mins I believe! That game was amazing as well in my opinion.
I wouldn't mind longer waiting times inbetween episodes for longer and better episodes.
Honestly, looking at the way Telltale is going - I don't think that's too likely. I assume max would be 1hr20mins for the rest.
Episode 1 & 2 definitely should've just been combined as one.
