javier is better protagonist than clementine AND lee

he has best personality for a protagonist so far. whichever choice you pick, it suits him... whether he is a douche or a nice guy. you can switch between "bad" and "good" choices as much as you want, and its still not out of character for him. which wasnt the case with clementine and lee.

im guessing hardest thing for telltale was to make a likable new protagonist. they manage to do that, but somehow fucked every other aspect of the game. :(

  • I won't go as far to say as I like him more than Lee just yet but as far as a protagonist I do agree he is better than Clementine. I would've been fine with Clementine in a later season when she got older and was at her prime but I felt she was too young to be involved in the scenarios of season 2. I posted an idea a few months ago about Omid being the protagonist of season 2 and dealing with his wife's pregnancy as well as caring for Clementine while surviving the dark in the world. As a player you could try to remain optimistic and pacifistic or you could lose the light that Omid had for the sake of hardcore survival. But I do think Javier is what I wanted right now and I'm glad we got him. I'm glad Clem is still involved but yeah.

yeah I find myself enjoying playing more as javier than lee and clementine, and I love playing him as a hot headed asshole makes him seem more badass.

  • I am not sure I can put him above Lee yet but I sure like him alot too.

  • I do love playing as Javier as I agree that he does have a really good personality and is nice to look at as he says so himself he's rather "dashing" but I definitely prefer him over clementine but I'm not sure about lee.

  • I enjoyed his interactions with Clementine. I still don't care about his family, though.

  • Yeah, i'd rank him at the top for me as well.

  • Can't top Lee, he was lighting in a bottle. But you can use the same process that created Lee to create another compelling lead. They have , in terms of story telling, went back to the basics. Part of me hates this. As I want to control Clem directly. But Javier is so well written and acted, that I don't stay mad. I find myself actually conflicted about this. As Carol from TV said "I find myself confused in the most wonderful way." Just give me me some "present" control of Sweet Pea will ya? And don't let it be to kill or try to kill David, Javier,or anyone they care for. Clem needs friendship.❤

  • I have to disagree. He is nowhere better than Lee.

  • I love playing my Javier as a sarcastic guy. I preferred playing as Clem and Lee but I am still enjoying Javier, tho I have to admit he has some of the most badass walker kills

  • I prefer playing Javier over clementine and his skills are pretty impressive and badass!

  • WOAH! I wouldn't go so far, no one is better than Lee in any way.

  • better protagonist than clementine AND lee

  • I personally still find both Lee and Clementine to be more interesting characters but I suppose that's because of the depth Season One added to their characters.

What's so mind blowing about his personality?

I always see people saying this, that he's somehow amazing or particularly deep, but no one can explain what makes him these things.

I don't mind him, but all I have seen is a nominally nice guy who knows how to swing a bat and smart enough to not just stand around when there's a crisis.

  • Personally, I like playing as Clementine the best. I loved Season 2 so much.

Secondly I like playing as Lee as he is a well designed character with a great backstory. Finally Javier is my least favourite character to play as but I still do like him and dont mind playing as him.

  • Not for me at all. I didnt hate him at all and kind of liked him. But doesn't touch Lee or Clem.

    Lee > Clem>>> Javi

  • I also prefer Javi over Lee and Clem

  • What is wrong with the other aspects of the game?

  • Was actually looking forward to playing Clem again. We didn't see what she would become yet from Season 2.

Javier isn't bad. What's great about him is you can try going a different route with him then Lee or Clem.

Would I say that he is the best protagonist? No Lee is by far the best because Clem is still alive.

  • Nah, I think Lee/Clem will always be the best but Javier is pretty good, I really like him.

  • i do not agree with you i prefer lee and clem over him and sense lee is gone i prefer clem its really her story
if you want to play someone else its fine but make everyone fit for the story also this doesnt feel like
a season 3 this feels like another spin off game or a cross over game and just throwing clem in for
kicks but if its season 3 we waited 2 years for this crap it has no point it was well pretty waisted

  • I like playing as Clementine and Lee over Javier, but that dosn't mean I hate playing as him. We just need more scenes with him using his voice actor's talent to a greater affect. Also, Javier dosn't really have an interesting back story. Feels a bit generic.

  • He's better than Clem, for sure. But no one can beat a history teacher. Those guys are fucking badasses.

  • Better than Lee?

No way. I refuse to accept this.

  • What are you smoking my dude? I want some.

  • Javier is alright but I prefer Lee because he's more grounded.

Lee didn't freak out each time he came across a lone walker. Which is bizarre for Javier since he has had four years dealing with them.

  • Clementine? I'm not sure, I think Clem could've been more well-executed this season actually if we were still playing as her but I will agree that I have really enjoyed playing as Javi and honestly, I do like not knowing what Clem will do next this time around. I'm kinda in the middle on this one though as I did really enjoy playing as her and it just felt right to take control over her after training her as Lee in the first season, felt more like a natural transition than just playing as this new guy as we do at the start of this season.

But he's still nowhere near Lee for me and honestly, he probably won't get anywhere near him in my eyes. I'm a bit biased though as Lee is one of my all-time favourite game characters.

And don't get me wrong, I love Javi. He's probably my favourite thing about the game thus far for that matter. But Lee Everett is just the coolest dude ever.

  • I think it's kinda quick to call him the best playable character after 2 short episodes while we played as Lee and Clementine for 2 complete seasons.

  • Than Clementine, perhaps, but I wouldn't be so absolute where Lee is concerned. The season's not over yet.

  • Its too early to decide if he is a better protagonist between lee and clem, but it is safe to say that he is leagues better than the protagonists of 400days.

  • Are you upset at the fact that Javi is better than you. :P

What are you smoking my dude? I want some.

  • everyone. just stop feeding this troll

  • Correct me please, but it's not a competition. They are all different.

  • I like playing as Javier but nothing so far came even close to playing as Lee and nothing as emotional as the ending of No Time Left. I miss seeing his angry facial expressions and good/neutral/bad decisions, the walking around and talking to people with more than one line of dialogue and choosing who to feed. The closest that was was the part in the junkyard and then it was all straightforward. Sigh

  • Never, the only badass thing he did was killing those walkers in the beginning of Ep 2 which is small compared to what I did!

Are you upset at the fact that Javi is better than you. :P
