Okay, so I've been ignoring you guys for quite some time now, and I just have to say wow--I have never seen Sarah that unresponsive before! What did you do to her?

Woah! I've never heard half of that Kenny wax in the tent before either! Wow, what a dick! ...Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't hold back a snicker. Also, the game forgot to unload Sarah.

What did you do to her?

Not much really. All I did was stay silent when she asked if we were friends. Otherwise I give her every positive interaction possible, I'm pretty sure.

    Link to that part

Lilac and I kind of talk about it for a few minutes when we get to it. But let me explain my perspective on it anyway, because I don't think I did in the video so well.

It may sound cheesy but friendship is something that I cherish. I have several close friends, and I value and treasure each of them deeply. Because of this, to hand out something like that--to say, "Yes, we're friends" to someone literally seconds after you meet them feels very wrong and dishonest to me. I couldn't in good conscience say to Sarah "Yes we're friends," and "Yes I'll pinky swear you we're friends" when it feels incredibly wrong to me. (I mean you're literally founding a "friendship" on a lie. How does that make sense? How can you tell someone you're "best friends" and swear to it when you just met them?) Still I knew that Sarah and my Clem could come to be friends in the future (I would've happily given her the pinky swear maybe an episode or so later after I had gotten to know her better), but to say that Sarah and my Clem were friends literally seconds after I met her is a lie and I can't stand by it (and that's the same for any character who tries to befriend me literally seconds after I meet them.) You have to earn my trust before I can call you a friend or before you can call me a friend.

In fact it's strange because that's how some of the relationships with some of my best friends started out--rather rocky. But as time passed we got the opportunity to know each other better and understand each other better, and our friendships became very very strong.

All that being said, I did like Sarah and I somewhat regret not giving her the pinky swear in this playthrough, as you do miss out on some dialogue with her. I wanted her to live and I was unhappy when she died in episode 4--there was a lot of wasted potential there. I was hoping Jane could learn from Sarah, and even vice versa.

Woah! I've never heard half of that Kenny wax in the tent before either! Wow, what a dick! ...Though I'd be lying if I said I didn't hold back a snicker.

Lol are you being sarcastic here? : p

Okay, to be completely, I wasn't quite as big on Sarah when I played the first episode. Not only did I not here good things about her, Luke, or Rebecca, but I was expecting a bratty 7yo, not a tall 15yo. I didn't dislike her but she definitely caught my attention for how creepy that whole setup was, as well as how immediately sympathetic she had been established. I honestly agreed to the pinky swear because a. I wanted to see where their friendship goes(hrgh-hrgh), and b. I was legitimately intimidated by her size advantage. I practically thought she was gonna slam Clementine against her bed if I said no anyway!

Yeah, I hear. Like I said, it's an example of how sympathetic she is(cause she's lonely and desperate for companionship just as much as she's empathetic) also showing creepy she was at the time--in a dark bedroom of a house Clementine's not supposed to be in no less! Still, I legitimately think she was a highlight of the Season and could've been one of its saving graces had they stuck to their apparent guns with her.
After all, Clementine needs some friends who actually understand her(and yes, I know Jane counts, shutup); Hell, I even wish Arvo had gotten to be friends with her, given that he seemed to desire it as well.

I wanted her to live and I was unhappy when she died in episode 4--there was a lot of wasted potential there. I was hoping Jane could learn from Sarah, and even vice versa.

Same here, baby. Opposites attract, after all, and even Jane admits that Sarah reminds her of the sister she had to leave behind; why not reach out to her to try and deal with that? Tragically, she became the go to example of a lot of my problems with Jane and that was almost certainly the worst moment of the Season/game/series.
Still, Sane has a nice drone to it, don'tcha think?

Lol are you being sarcastic here? : p

No, not really. I just never heard him quite so snide with Clementine or leave the tent in a foul mood like that before.

    What do you mean? o.o

In the cutscene where Rebecca's water broke, Sarah is still standing next to Mike and Luke for quite a bit before she unloads to be by the wall when Luke gives her her orders. She was only supposed to be there when Bonnie and Clementine are talking about Kenny, just sorta standing there in "support" of Rebecca. But the game forgot to unload her, so she's just kinda standing there for a while not giving shit like Kenny and Jane. It was pretty distracting, actually.

EDIT: Also, I think it's worth saying that you gals' observation of her line to Clementine about being saved because they're friends and how it further suggests that she and Jane are Not so Different is an interesting observation. I thought about that line quite a bit myself and I'm pretty sure I would've addressed in that Sarah centric topic I had planned when I joined this community.

Uploaded Season 3. Parts of it were very good, parts of it were...pretty bad lol. For now I'll let our vids do the talking. Either way, Lilac and I had a blast doing them mostly....except for certain parts...

  • Okay, I know I'm late in saying this, but thanks for confirming that Jane wait option during the choice to pull her up. I thought that was an option, but I would've had to go outta way to confirm it myself. Also, because it's me, I would like to point out that Jane has a holster with a gun that was clearly visible on her when she was down there. Fuckin' clumsy coward-bitch!

  • Okay, so I'm actually gonna watch your entire playthrough of Season 2 and wanted to note a few things:

I never noticed the resemblance between Alvin and Rebecca and Ed and Diana. Thanks for pointing that out.

Do either of you know if there is an uncut version of the Kitchen Meeting somewhere?

I forgot that staying silent will make Sarah give up pretty quick. Don't feel too bad about your first impressions with Sarah because I got a similar vibe and actually had quite a few theories as to how things were gonna play out.

I didn't know you could ask Nick about his mom in this episode and I never saw this scene.

Yeah the most complete version I can think of is on youtube:

I didn't know you could ask Nick about his mom in this episode and I never saw this scene.

Yup there's a lot of neat little details a lot of people tend to miss. The way we play, we're generally trying to see as many of those little details as we can.

  • Holy shit, why didn't the inside of Howe's load?! Also, I see the game didn't do that narmy thing where it freezes up while loading the "Shoot Jane" option, causing her to frown for the camera(it still does for a split second, though).
