(SPOILERS) THIS CHOICE IS SO POINTLESS IN EPISODE 1

I just watched what happens if you go with Tripp to the junkyard and I'm honestly sort of disappointed. Choosing to go with either Tripp or Eleanor is honestly stupid in my opinion. The EXACT same thing happens no matter who you go with. A matter of fact, they have almost identical poses and dialogue. The only thing that changes is the dialogue on the way there and Eleanor fixes Gabe's hand. YES, you get a one minute dialogue option of Eleanor saying she dated Tripp or Tripp being jealous that she's interacting with you, SO much character development (sarcasm).

Getting there isn't even what bothers me, what bother me is I wish they had a difference on whether you go in the morning or tonight. Like if you had gone in the morning, maybe someone would of gotten AT LEAST hurt if not dead. Or if you had gone with Eleanor something bad would of happened at night or Tripp would of been mad at you. But he's hardly mad at you. Like that seems to be the major difference between them - MORNING OR NIGHT. I also admit, I thought something was a little up with Eleanor after she was so forward with wanting to help you, but now I like her even more now that I know THE SAME THING happens.

They should of just chosen one person to go with because this choice was pointless and unsatisfying. The only thing that really determines this choice is who you like better or who you trust more. But since THE SAME THING HAPPENS, guess it doesn't matter who you like or trust. Maybe this choice will have an impact on your relationship with either Tripp or Eleanor in future episodes but so far in my opinion it's probably the worst choice of episode 1. I admit the choice was hard when you first get it but after you realize the same thing happens, I just didn't care who I chose. I JUST WISH THERE WOULD OF BEEN AT LEAST ONE MAJOR DIFFERENCE. Maybe they had a choice of both of them for character development, IDK but it did not work.

  • It's Telltale. It's common knowledge by now that almost every choice you make has no effect. It's been around since the beginning. This choice having no effect is no surprise.

This game series adapts to the choices you make. The story is tailored by how you play.

  • Is it so surprising?

Yeah after bringing Eleanor I had regret because I thought Tripp would've been much more helpful in the fight. Nope, they behave like the exact same person. No wonder they dated.

  • Doug/Carley situation all over again. We'll see how long they last though.

Horses or a car. That's the major difference. Another thing, (Especially if you have the car) no one could grab Mari's body and put it in the car/on a horse?

  • I know, that's why I said it was pointless.

  • Horses take longer so they arrive the same time as the car would in the morning

  • Hey, With Eleanor at least you get to ride Horses!

  • Actually, there is a small change when you're fighting all the zombies outside the truck.

If Eleanor's there, she gets grabbed by one of them, and Javi has to save her. If Tripp's there, he charges at the zombie and ends up wrestling with it until Javi kills it.

  • Yeah, it was pretty disappointing. I mean, it's nothing new really but I was expecting at least something would change. Like in season 2 when you have to choose between going with Jane or Mike and Bonnie. In the end you still go to both places but they change a bit when you get there accordingly to whom you go to first and last. Going with Eleanor should at least still be night time and Tripp should get mad at you. And something should change, like the herd still being there and Kate and Gabe beeing stuck on another place. At least make it seem like our choice mattered. I find it funny that when choosing to go with Eleanor, Javier says "even if it gets us there a minute sooner it's worth it" but then they are casually riding horses and not in a hurry at all. Well, you were right, Javier, it did get you there a minute sooner. lol
