Kenny
Ok, so obviously Kenny is a goner, but he was my favorite character and I am heartbroken to have seen his death scene. This thread is to vent your anger, sadness, etc at his death and to share your favorite Kenny moments, gifs, memes, and anything like that. My favorite Kenny moment would have to be when Clem reunites with him in season 2 and when he sacrifices himself for Ben, someone he despises, in season 1.
PS I must say his exit from twd was pretty pathetic and I feel that he deserved a better death than that

remember
They should've had Kenny struck by lightning or something.. would've made that scene a lot funnier
omg lololol I love this!!!!!!!
Or just drop a boat on his head.
Seeing how poorly the characters have been developed in season 3 has made me appreciate Kenny even more, especially in season 1. Favourite moment? Man, so many to choose from. I'd say the whole scene of Duck and Katjaa's death. He should have won an oscar for this scene even if he is just animated pixels.
Kenny always bitched about how you weren't loyal if you didn't agree with him (then again pretty much every character did) and he also seemed to try to make your decisions for you like in S2E2 were he says something like "Of course she is staying, right Clem?". But even if you disagreed with him (talking about S2 here mainly) and didn't do things his way he still cares for you and trusts you. Look at the endings, no matter which one you choose he says that you did the right thing and most importantly the ending were you tell him that you will take AJ and leave him. Put any other character in Clems place and Kenny would have ripped their head off for even suggesting something like that. He doesn't get mad when Clem tells him they will leave, he doesn't even try to stop her, he trusts her and knows that she is doing the right thing which he says himself. For that ending I expected to see his controlling/overprotective nature to kick in and get mad to the point were Clem would have to shoot him anyway or at least fall in despair pleading for them to come back while sitting on his knees none of which happened. I can't help but to like the guy.
On the side note: I understand that you can't have all the determinant characters running around and complicating story, no 1000 endings and all that but come on that Kenny death in S3 was just pure bs. I and I am sure many others have no problem with him dying but goddammit I bet there wasn't a single person who just as seeing the flashback didn't think about a scenario were something runs on the road while they are talking causing a crash or whatever.
I am a huge kenny fan and he's one of my favorite walking dead characters. With that said he should have never come back after season 1. Granted seeing him in episode 2 was a "feel good" moment but it just went downhill from there. It was the same recycled phases of kenny but worse in season 2 not to mention season 2 focused far too much on kenny and practically forced the player to have to constantly interact with kenny and try to like him regardless of your stance on him. Also I found it annoying how Kenny ALWAYS has to have a power struggle or have a conflictive relationship with another character. Luke,Jane,Lily,Larry,Ben,nick,Lee (determinant). And seeing how they made it such a big "final decision" with kenny at the end of season 2 only for him to be brought back in a low quality and Mediocre written flashback to have a joke of a death further proves my point of Kenny just dying in season 1. I really like kenny but as the seasons went on the character got progressively worse and just had a piss poor written ending in the end.
or a salt lick ala Larry style
you... i like you.
Ah another Kenny hater. Even now he's gone, they just won't stop talking about him
Even Ben died a more tragic death....
Maybe if people wouldn't keep bringing him up, the "Kenny haters" could stop talking about him. Here he is dead again, and a fan is making a tribute post to him.
I wasnt writing a mean comment or making an argument, just a statement. Dont be so defensive.
Was spot on for me. Ended in S2E5
I really love Kenny but he should've died in Season 1. Back then his death was way better and it had more sense.
I'll always love and miss you, Kenny. Your death was awful but I take peace in knowing that you found happiness and redemption with Clem and AJ. You were the best goddamned friend I could've asked for in this fucked up world.
Rest in peace, Kenny. I'll take good care of AJ, dont worry about a thing. Give Lee a hug for me.
Team Kenny forever and ever. Amen.
It's sad because he was the Daryl of the games, yet he still got killed :c
That's what I'm saying.
I was really sad to see Kenny go, and I can really feel his absence in the story. Whether you loved him or hated him, or rested somewhere in-between, he was a sort of driving force in the series, being the most notable character behind Lee and Clementine, due to his large role in both seasons. His character meant a lot to me.
Offing Kenny and Jane so quickly, with Kenny being killed in...the manner in which he was, almost feels like a betrayal of sorts. Not the fact that he died, but the fact that he was thrown away and pushed aside so quickly, with few signs of his time with Clem evident. And that model...Those returning character models were so rushed, almost signifying a lack of care.
I understand that not everyone can receive a ceremonious death, and I didn't come in expecting Kenny to have any real role in the story. It was really just him encouraging Clementine to speed up, followed by the car just doing whatever the fuck it did the moment he was turned around to tend to AJ, leading to his paralysis and death within four and a half minutes that kind of angered me. Yes, it was a realistic death, but the situations leading up to it felt contrived.
Still, besides me seeing that one line as unKennyish, he was very much in character until the end. We received some heart-warming dialogue before the incident, and I remember feeling this moment of dread and successive terror when the screen finally settled on Kenny. Our last moments were heart-breaking, and the animations on Clementine's face worsened the tragedy.
I still am not the biggest fan of the way Kenny was handled here, but I'm just thankful that we had him in the series so long. Other characters didn't receive as much time as him, which makes me cherish and be grateful for all of the focus on Kenny. At the same time though, it makes the death he received here feel even more like a slap in the face. I actually feel guilty for saying that, considering player's with other favorites didn't receive as much time with theirs, also could've received unsatisfying deaths, and additionally had to put up with a character they possibly viewed as poorly written, or an asshole, or both, consuming so much screen-time. But still, I'm thankful for the long journey we received with Kenny, and I loved his character.

Despite the constant ups and downs in our relationship, he was a great and loyal friend to my Lee. He was a great uncle of sorts to my Clementine, and truly did her and AJ well. You will be missed by many. May you rest in peace. Shit...This sounds like a legitimate obituary, reading through it again. (This is hardly an objective post, and I really don't wish to instigate any variant of an argument.)
I really don't know why, but as soon as a character gets an eye patch, it makes them 10 times more bad-ass.
Anyway, R.i.P Kenny.
You were my second favourite character from Telltale Games. And possibly in my Top 5 all time, from any form of entertainment.
Even in your final breath, you were still able to protect Clementine!
Anyone who hates on Kenny shall feel our lords wrath
I cried so hard when he died in this bullshit way. At least Kenny died a hero unlike Jane. He never wanted anyone to get close to Clem and AJ. Rest in Peace Kenny
Loved him in S1...oh sure I hated his murdering Larry...but he had a great arc and died trying to save Ben.
You'd probably like that wouldn't you lol. Kenny will always be talked about years from now. He's the one character telltale got right in my opinion. By that i mean in dividing people which isn't always a good thing but it's better to be talked about than not discussed at all
I actually liked Kenny in season 1. Sure he was a pain in the ass when he didn't agree with him but that's the kind of detail that I like in this game. Then with Katjaa and Duck's death, everything went downhill from there (such as him trying to convince me of letting Ben go), but he was definitively more depressed and obsessed when he had a goal (a boat), but I really think he needed Ben shutting him up, I found his sacrifice much more genuine. Then in season 2, we learned he somehow survived by being lucky, he was actually okay at first but then it became a repeat of his season 1 arc (lost of a loved one, depression, obsession of a goal, him vs the world). I definitively think the Wellington ending had the most closure, not only for the game but for Kenny's character. He was finally at peace.
If it helps,
WATCH IT!

...THAT LOOK...it's godly! xD
Hey btw there's a Team Kenny subreddit
I would love that. But I tell you one thing, if the purpose of turning Kenny from a flawed but still somewhat likable character in season one to a total monster in season two was to divide the fans just for the lolz, I did not appreciate it. There was nothing right about that imo.
Besides, Kenny has had his time. I would like to start focusing on other characters who haven't had as much attention.

Is there one for Jane?
I would prefer that some of you didn't sometimes as well.
Simply put, I was accidentally spoiled about Kenny's demise but now exactly how. Just told walkers were involved, and when I actually played the scene it had me like this.
You can thank TellTale's lazy ass for the deaths of them both. The end of S2: "Finally! A choice that REALLY MATTERS" I thought. WRONG.
I think (my opinion) is that it's in Season 2 where Kenny really shone, taking a more protagonistic role in the story, being the deuteragonist, just behind Clem. He really had some amazing scenes, many of them were epic ones, full of feels, and in the end he (determinantly) reaches redemption.
That's very subjective imo. I think his character got even better by season two, taking somewhat of a Lee role towards Clem (Yeah I know Clem doesn't need a guardian, but my Lee wanted Kenny to take care of her afterwards he was gone) and I loved how close he grew to her and how protective he was.
I agree, to an extent. People who were sick of Kenny had the choice to either kill him, leave him, or stay in Wellington. People like me who wanted him around as long as possible I think deserved to have more Kenny in their stories, and Telltale just gave us a lame, anti-climatic death for him. (Same goes to Jane fans)
The thing that stood out to me about Kenny was how he never stopped trying, and never stopped believing, and never gave up trying to do what he thought was right for the ones he loved. Even when he was broken, even when he had seemed to give up, even when he had been beaten to within inches of his life -- he would always find the strength inside to keep fighting for the ones he loved. It was goddamn admirable, and very sad and very real at the same time. To strive and fail is all too human and I really loved how Kenny was a flawed character that way.
He was irrational, he was a loose cannon, he was a jerk... even when you agreed with him most of the time. But, he clearly did what he did out of a sense of wanting AJ and Clem to be safe. Even in S1, if you disagree with him constantly, as long as you think of the kids and point out that Clem is your family, he will respect that about Lee. The guy had a code and he lived by it, even if it was to a fault.
I feel they did a grave disservice to a great character. Jane got a shoddy death too. But Kenny, oh man, Kenny... parting is such sweet sorrow, especially in the way they killed him like a redshirt in Star Trek.
My favorite S1 memories of him were seeing him come back to save Lee in the pharmacy after Larry decked Lee, how broken up he was about Duck (but he still found the strength in himself to keep pressing on), how he never shut up about that damn boat (and the look on his, and everybody else's face, when they finally found the boat that Vernon eventually stole).
Favorite S2 memories, the hug, the quiet talk with Clem by the fireside, the way he bounced back from Carver's beating (and eventually administered some fierce justice of his own), and most bittersweet, the way he begged for Wellington to accept the kids, and asked Clem to go into Wellington because he didn't trust himself to keep her safe. That was the moment that clinched it for me and I concluded that, despite how broken he was, he was still a good man and his heart hadn't been corrupted by the corrupt world of TWD. Anybody who was broken like he was, but still had a good heart and would beg Clem to go to where he thinks it is safe without him (partially because he fears his own instability around Clem), cannot be all the way gone. Clem and AJ were all he had left and he was willing to part with them to keep them safe. I don't even think Rick Grimes would be able to have that kind of care for Carl, and Rick is a (mostly) good man too, who has done some really evil and crazy shit as well.
For me, TWD games ended with S2. Clem and Kenny and AJ are still out there somewhere, somehow. I won't pay any mind to S3. TTGs can go get bent for all I care. They are dead to me now, and Kenny is the one who is alive. He and Jane deserved so much better. Clem deserved so much better. I went through too much with both characters just to see them all but pushed out of the story for convenience's sake. When I go back and watch videos of S1 and S2 moments, it just reminds me how far S3 is off the mark. I felt S2 was a worthy, though imperfect, continuation of Clem's story and I really loved how Kenny (and Jane) were just another example of adults who were teaching her the things she needed to know to survive.
I think Jane taught Clem some important survival lessons, some hard truths about becoming too attached to people and things that might get you killed (or worse, leave you broken after you lose them anyway). I think Kenny taught Clem that no matter how fucked up things are, no matter how hard you've been beaten down by circumstances and men like Carver, you get back up and keep pushing forward and doing what you think is best for the ones and things you care about. In their own way, both Kenny and Jane taught Clem important lessons of survival.
One reason I hate Jane's ending so much is Jane was all about going to whatever extreme was necessary to survive. She's almost mercenary about keeping her and Clem alive (and is willing to leave a lot behind for that to be a reality). And then she just hangs herself. I don't buy it. The reason I hate Kenny's death is because I don't believe a guy that was always looking out for the ones he cared about would be so careless as to not have Clem (or him) wearing a seatbelt and being so careless when teaching her how to drive. Every adult I've ever known who teaches a younger person to drive stick starts off in an empty parking lot, and starts very slow and keeps things very simple. It's totally unbelievable that Clem's first lesson driving a stick is on some random open road, no seatbelts, and baby AJ in the backseat. It just screams "we the writers don't want to deal with this character or flashback, so here's a quick way he died and now we're moving on to our new focus, Javier!"
I still tear up when I see the Clem + Kenny at Wellington endings. Either go with Kenny or stay, they are both testaments to what a good, caring, genuinely good guy he was. He was flawed, but I think he was good, despite having gone a bit crazy from a clearly crazy situation.
TTG, there are no words to express just how deeply disappointed I am with you and your writers. A great character like that deserved better, and Clem deserves better than playing second fiddle to the new "marketing department approved" face of the franchise, Javier.
Can you imagine if the original Star Wars trilogy gave us New Hope, Empire, and then Jedi shifted the focus away from Luke to some random new character (and Luke just made a few cameos here and there)?
Can you imagine if the LOTR book trilogy followed Sam and Frodo through all the shit of Fellowship and Two Towers, but then ROTK whisks us away to some random hobbits in Hobbiton who are struggling under the oppression of Saruman ("Sharky"), and Frodo and Sam only make a cameo at the end when they and Merry and Pippin return to reclaim the Shire from Saruman and his forces of evil?
You don't make a third installment of a story and push the main focus of the previous two installments into the background in favor of a character you believe will be more marketable or easy to write for. You guys are clearly some combination of uninspired, cynical, lazy, and/or greedy. It's shameful.
Whoever decided that pushing Clem to the background in favor of Javier was a good idea, or that Kenny should die in such a bullshit flashback, or Jane should.... NEEDS TO BE SLAPPED IN THE FACE, THEN FIRED. They are bad and they should feel bad. They don't get it. At all.
Sorry I have deviated so much from the topic of this thread, but I just can't talk about Kenny without bringing up the other flaws I see with ANF. It should be called ANFU, for "A New FU".... brought to you by TTGs, the studio that used to give us good content and used to clearly care about the stories it wanted to tell through its games.....
I actually really liked Ben.
No but it has been suggested a couple of times.
