I really like that little touch Telltale added, it's was a nice way to show her curls. The hair physics have gotten a lot better too. I still have PTSD flashbacks of Snow's 'hair physics' in The Wolf Among Us; let's just say the hair loved to bounce on its own.
That's what I thought when I saw her the first time.
But it's probably the rendering of lights and shadows they does much.
Season 1
Season 2
Season 3 - 1
Season 3 - 2
Season 3 - 3 (Especially this one)
She is not « so dark ».
I don't know if you guys noticed, but comparing to s1 she is a LOT darker (skin) now. I am not a racist, just pointing out how TTG keeps making her darker every season.
Yeah. Clem's design this season is really well made. In a way, her main outfit also kinda reflects her personality (I have this ideal where appearance can give you a hint of personality when designing a character) and I like that very much. Of course, Telltale usually does a great job in designing their characters enough to stand out.
The best improvement in S3 imo. She looks so cute in S1 & S2, but now looks like she is growing into a beautiful women (don't mean to be creepy, just proud). That majestic hair flowing, those piercing yellow/green/brown eyes, and her skin looks like she's blacker now. Love her new design.
I don't dislike the new look but I do prefer the look of the first two seasons. To me they look as if they could have come off the page of the comic, season 3 seems more cartoon than comic (if that makes sense.)
Such an awesome moment lol. No way I was going to run off with the family when I could buy them some time to escape with Tripp, but the scenes afterward ensure I'm not going to make a different choice.
We used to have a Clementine screenshots thread during Season 2's run. It was closed down several months ago since practically every frame was screen captured. Maybe it's time for a new one?
While I like the new look of A New Frontier, I do prefer the living-comic-book style of the previous seasons, especially Season2's variant. The less realistic feel seems more immersive than the more realistic look. It's kind of like if Disney switched up their drawing or CGI style for a more realistic look; while it would most likely be impressive, it would lack that classic style. Another example I can think of is how people prefer the cell-shaded Borderlands look than the original realistic style. Then again, TellTale's original style changed when they did The Walking Dead, so this would be their 4th new engine style (pre-TWD, TWD style, Game of Thrones style, and current Batman style).
Back to the topic of Clementine, the new look is very different. There are moments where Clementine will make a face or pose or the camera will be at a certain angle, and I can see the old-style Clementine within the new style. Overall, it's nice. It's growing on me. I do wonder what current Clem would have looked like in the previous style.
You know, I don't get people when they say that they miss the old S1/S2 art style
S3's still the same style from the first two seasons, just higher fidelity overall-- better shading, lighting, texture resolutions, jigglebones, etc. Characters still have outlines and sketch marks on their clothing/faces, just like the first two seasons. The same stuff is still there. The style itself didn't change-- the way it was rendered did. It's still based on the same design/aesthetic philosophies as the first two seasons, just being seen through a slightly different lens, so to speak.
Someone in the forums somewhere mention some sort of thing that explains why some of us like the "older" version. I forgot what's called. I'll see if I can find it.
For me personally, I thing TellTale also made the facial features more proportionate to real human anatomy. The Season 1 and 2 faces seem more exaggerated in a way that make them cartoonish but not too much. Like it's obvious it is the same engine, it's just those small changes are... it's hard to describe. It's kind of like how GOT did the water-color thing or how TWAU has a lot of color and contrast.

I feel like I'm not making sense...
The new art style really brings out Clem's eyes. I like the way light falls on her face as well, she looks like she's wearing a heavy amount of highlight (but not in a bad way).
Tbh, I think only Clem looks great this season. I preferred the old art style for everyone else.
Kenny wasn't too bad, but Jane looked horrendous during the flashbacks.
Comments
This fanart isn't canon
I remember playing S1 in 2012 and thinking "If Clementine lives past this I bet she's going to grow up to be a really pretty person."
I was right.
Can we make a thread dedicated to Character's selfies? Please. I need to post my pictures and screenshots somewhere for people to admire.
I'll be honest while I kinda like the new look, I don't know why they changed their comic-book tymbolic style one...
It didn't fixed any of the models appearing/disappearing and having seizures on screen...
And the glossy eyes are pissin' me off tho...

Holy shit!!
I think I like her tan skin better....
Turned on by a piece of hair...
Welp that's enough internet for me... *whistles
I think Kenny's was the worst remastered version, I actually thought Jane wasn't too bad when I saw her.
Well, she basically lives outside and the sun will do that to you.

The boots are fucking mint as well
Actually... here ya go.

She's so adorable
You guys and your gifs crack me up haha
Omg yes! I was totally thinking about the detail they added with Clem's hair on the side of her face. Nice touch TT

Tbh, I'd prefer the S1/S2 graphics style. Not a big fan of S3
I prefer her in that blue jacket and scarf...such a nice look.

Painted hair, lol.
Yeah looks like she's got some eyeliner going on there lol

Oh don't worry, you're making sense. This stuff is hard to explain.

This might be spam, but oh-my-god!
Lol Kenny and Jane tho
I'm glad Clem smiles in this game
Turned on by a strand of hair.
Hmmmm.... understandable
Just wow.
What scene are those from?
Beginning of Episode 2.
Every. Time.
What? Older eyepatch=Toilet paper. https://cdn.thisiswhyimbroke.com/images/donald-trump-toilet-paper.jpg he has an actual eyepatch.
I've never seen them before, and I don't how to get them.
The colors in those pics look great!
