Why didn't Lee destroy the brain of the St. John brother he killed with a pitchfork (to keep him from turning into a walker)?

Because turning to walker is worse than death?
Danny was incapacitated, if we are going by the decision of killing him it was because
1: He had more important things to do like saving Katjaa and Duck
2: Even if he let him turn, Danny was stuck in the bear trap, so he wouldn't be able to get free.
Number 1 is the main reason why.
For me it was because he wasn't dead.
